Shocking - all routes in/out of Stellenbosch now seem vulnerable.

Has there been any known incidents on the Polkadraai road towards Kuilsriver?

(Might be useful to hook up with the Bottelary Road again, via Zevenwacht.)

* - am fairly new to the forum, and used to do fairly regular commuting between Stellies and Table View over weekends. Quite something else now.

Otherwise am enjoying the Hub, much useful info, with knowledgeable, helpful members.

Welcome

I've heard of no incidents on Polka' side

The Roadworks are virtually done.

I am thinking of riding from my office on the Foreshore in Cape Town at about 13h00 tomorrow out on the cycle track to Melkbos. Where do you pick up the track? somewhere behind the Civic Centre? Also, is it safe, I had heard that some cyclist had been mugged on this route. Are there specific areas to avoid? Would welcome comments.

I got mugged by three guys in the Koeberg Reserve a few weeks ago.

Damn, and here I'm thinking koeberg is the safest when riding solo, best I pack in some extra mags in future

You realise that was posted in 2009. Everytime I go there I have had to check in with security so wonder if its not better these days.

Can anyone confirm or comment on Koeberg these days? I've cycled there quite a few times without incident, but with the Slowcoach group, which is usually 3-5 people.

Last couple times I went to ride koeberg I have been on my own. i ride up from Sunningdale through melkbos all the way to the dam and back. never even seen anyone. except for the last trip up a few saturdays ago when some jackass with a 4x4 came drifting around a corner in a cloud of dust and ALMOST took out the guy ahead of me. HECTIC...The first class arsehole never even saw us. There was a sticker on theback of his bakkie to the effect of Dirt Stig. More like Dirt Pig if you ask me... :cursing:

I must say there are some dodgy areas but try to ride in a group.

I ride from Table View to Koeberg - do the long loop and back - only trouble I ever had was from abad assed zebra

Love it, and love this sport!

In another thread a guy was telling how the only scary thing he came across was a cow that suddenly appeared on one of the trails.

BTW - how many km's is that, sounds like a nice ride.

I ride there from Barrington in Sunningdale along Otto du Plessis, through Melkbos along the beach, up along Duynefontein along Charles Hoffe road and around the long loop and back, and it is around 64km

Hi there Guy on Bike,

I am joining some friends for a ride up Koeberg way starting in Edgemead on Sunday. They want to get some km on the saddle before the Burger. You are welcome to join if you want. We can discuss where to meet etc.

pm me if you are interested?
