I need some info. I need to get myself a new saddle and need your experience and recommendations

Some background info.

Currently riding about 10-14 hours a week with max about 16 hours a week. Weekend rides is nice and long 3-5 hours. Current weight 82 kg.

I need a COMFORTABLE saddle but still descent for racing also. (under 450 grams). The emphazise on "comfortable".

Currently riding a Selle Italia Flite TI, but I find it very hard and uncomfortable for rides past 2 hours especially on the sitbones. Long weekend rides really becomes a pain in the @ss.

Once again Fizik Arione or Aleante. The best for your butt, no question, but beware the cost.

I liked the Fizik Gobi before, now have a Specialized Avatar (143 mm) which feels more comfortable to me - boils down to personel prefrence and fit, know one guy who has a supermarket special seat for about R60, swears it is the best thing since Rolls. If it wears out he just buys another one.

I can recomend the Arione. I use the road version for triathlon and have no complaints (remember tri shorts have no chamois). Very comfortable, wing flex takes about 300km to break in (less than a weeks training) and then you are good to go.

If you decide on the Arione ti road I have one for sale R400. I like Sir Fred did the Ironman on it this year without any problems, but it is a personel issue.Ihave just changed to the Profile Stryke Tri version  more padding on the nose which for me is better when riding in thr aero position,It may take time but you will get the right choice. Good Luck

Arione is nice. Not soft, much like the Flite, but more comfy shape. I use one on my training bike for high milage.

For very plush, Selle Italia pro-link lite.

There used to be this guy down in Durban that made ladies saddles, Hamoc, I think they were called. Each one was made from an individual mold so as to ensure the perfect fit.

What I want to know is who did the molding and how do I go about getting the job?

Saddles, this is really very personal and no mater how much will advise what it best, you will never know until you really just go and try a few BUT this is expensive and hardly any places give out test saddles as the few that do not return/pay for them ruin it for the many.

I'm in a testing phase as I have been having a little bit of tenderness. I was on a Specialized Henge 143mm, which was comfortable but got sore after a while. I recently got the Specialized Power saddle, 155 as that is what they measured me at (honestly think this measurement is a bit wishy washy as so many I see need a 155). So far had two ride son it and honestly not getting on with it at the moment but like anything in cycling you have to give a change. Perhaps its just getting used to the wider saddle but it actually feels like too much saddle and still get a little tenderness but will give it a go for a few more rides.

In the interim,  I bought a fabric scoop saddle here on the hub as it looks a bit slicker and think I need something like this so there is not chaffing.

Anyway, the best is to take on the advice, pick one in your budget and give it a go. If it doesn't work, sell it and buy the next one you think that will work...etc. Try go for some second hand ones here on the hub to keep the cost down or try some of your mates saddles if they have different one.

Specialized Power Saddle for the win. Will be getting myself one very soon after some rides on a test saddle. Check out the thread about it that was started not too long ago (just search power saddle and it should come up). Seems like it really has made a massive difference for most that have tried it.
