I work for Massmart' date=' the Fourways store is going to be unlike any other. Trust me you want it. How can you object to a project which creates 350 short term jobs and another 250 permanant?? [/quote']

mackie, you sound just like that very friendly lady on the street corner last night, and I was also not convinced after her aggressive sales pitch.  Point is I don't trust people that tell me to "trust them", or tell me that I "want it".

Sing Canary SING!!!!!!!

as I said, I was not impressed or convinced, so I did not use her services.  It seems that there are however, hubbers that think that just because something is on offer they are obliged to test it, try it or take it.

One of the first rules of purchasing, is the harder the sales pitch the rubbisher (sic) the product.  When people start saying "trust me", "you want it" and "how can you object" then their products and arguments are flawed and probably dangerous for you.  Ergo, the friendly lady either slept alone that night or found solice in Mackie or BigH's arms.

What else do you want to object to going up?  If you've got Cosmo City on the West side now, I'd say you're pretty much buggered on the congestion and services front; and anything else is arranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

Are you going to object to any more large stores going up in that area? Sorry cant hear you for the sound of all the horses bolting and now stable doors slamming.

Ernesto(?) the original poster hasnt said anything since starting the thread, you'd hope for some more input here from his side.  Cant just expect to give the Hub an issue and hope we run with it, knees jerking as we go.

Oh, hang on a minute.....maybe you can.

The most important question that you are all missing. Which fire station will cover this Makro or will the fire engine even be able to get there through all the traffic?

Maybe that is why they decided to build it in the middle of Fourways... The Fire Brigade could do nothing for the previous one that burnt downOuch

So why bother with accessibility?

Joe, the intention of my post was to try to create awareness amongst the hubbers living in the area so they can go and express their concerns on the magaliessig web site. I'm not trying to find any solutions here or create controversy, just awareness, but I thank each one of you for commenting and it is actually interesting to see other people's point of view. If I didn't post anything during the weekend it is because I was handing out fliers on Saturday morning to also create awareness in the 4ways area. Is it a lost battle? It will for sure if no one does anything.

as cyclists i find that when we do our monthly shopping at makro it leaves us with surplus funds and we spend not even half of what we usually do at checkers or pnp.i can understand the congestion but it isn't an isolated occurrence because cycling past pnp i find that the traffic there is ten times worse because there are more people. the makro in edenvale down the road from us there are no taxis... not even parked two abreast... makro's parking lot whether it here or fourways is large enough for a hundred taxis parked two abreast. each makro parking lot comes fully equipped with a decent sized taxi rank.

Its obvious that Makro didnt plan for Taxis at the one on H/Pot because as some one said it is an absolute nightmare trying to get past the taxis at times even in a darn car let alone on your bike. I live in Constantia Kloof not far from the Makro and it is no fun trying to drive down H/Pot at month end with the amount of traffic going to Makro and its no fun on H/Pot at the best of times. Not a good idea for Four WaysBig G2010-02-22 02:08:29

Mackie what's happened to the one planned for Umhlanga?

BTW have you relocated from KZN or are you just making a stand against all the Guppie supporters there?
Still looking for the right land I think. Nope still live in KZN. I work for another division within Massmart.

Makro lost millions when the stores burnt down, not made any money. Check the company's annual reports...but wait... that will call for lateral thinking. I can also promise you that the margins are alot highr than that. www.massmart.co.za
