Hey! this should be part of the drifter series ................ oops, sorry forgot, this was a real mtb race so might be a bit too technical and mtb'ish for them.

Now now Steve !!! That was not very nice ! I agree it could well be a Drifter series race , they just need to get us back to the start line going back over the mountain and not around it !

Not a bad race...course was nice and all, the route marking was a little off in some places. Will be back next year.

I got smart.   Big%20smileI sent my friend with her camelback and some money. She fetched 3 beers and 4 cokes while I sat in the sun and socialised!

Did anyone else rinse off in the pool afterwards? Talk about Kamp Staaldraad II.

A really great race did the 35k, quite new to MTNing (a roadie) ....

awesome single track, pity about the gate at about 6k's huge bottleneck

for the slower riders.. will try the longer one next time..

Did the 35km. Will definitely ride it again. Only small concern was that the markers were a little off in a couple of places. Otherwise, great race.

hey hey

thanx dr, and you're mistaken bout my support team

they were great but unfortunately there is little you can do with a stuffed up shifter

we even tried to put the chain manually on the middle blade but it wouldnt stick

it was a nightmare on the tar, no matter how much i pedaled i wouldnt go faster was really frustrating

but it's been happening often lately - this is like the 4th time i got no gears and 3rd at a race!!!!

but my own stupidity and the one girl passed me at the scene of the crash.........i should know better and no matter how much it hurts just get back on the bike Wink

Must agree that it was an awesome route. Loved the single track, best I've ridden in a long time. And it's in my back yard! But like others have said in some cases you risk life and limb if riding there at any time other than official race day.

DR - you can't resist a pretty girl with a mechanical failure can you? I offered to leave you any 'tools/spares' you needed but all you wanted was company!

bg' date=' where did you crash? what happened?[/quote']

after the 2nd water point, a rocky patch short but steep, there were 2 marshals on motorbikes that must have pissed themselves after i rode painfully away

i walked down, didnt even think of trying my luck with cycling through it, but as i got to the bottom instead of walking a metre further, where it was flatter, to get back on the bike i did it (or tried to) get on it on the steep part, leaning forward cos of some freaky effect called gravity and off i went over the handle bars.......all i could think was ouch ouch

was painful to get back on the bike so i took some time, costing me R150 Confused
