Hi All

About to pull the trigger on a few things but I want to add a pair of shoes to the order aswell.

Will the shoes be taxed 45% on its own and the rest of the order only the VAT and 10% atv?

Or is everything taxed on the higher amount?

Thank you

Should be treated separately, but brain farts have been known to occur. May make it through unscathed, may have the duty applied to the entire order.

Hi all

Someone posted a url a while back where I can track a parcel in the local loop.

I only have the USPS tracking number, not the local SAPO number.

Anyone help.

That looks very much like a international site.

Sure the USPS information would be there, I'm looking for the SA movement, as it seems SAPO is not updating the information back to USPS.

It's been stuck in in transfer to destination since the 5th, after leave the customs area.

Trying to find out if it's at a hub or what, I've already gone to my local post office and check, not there yet.

Perfect, this it eh one I was looking for.

Not more information on it though than whats being shown on USPS, actually, correction, USPS says in transit since the 5th, this shows it was/is at the Germiston hub on the 11th.

so guess will check local office on Tuesday again.

thanks

this one works wonders (if they register the tracking number on their database). shows both local and incoming tracking numbers.

Can someone please tell me why I have to pay the "agency handling" fee? It's a Wiggle order being delivered by DawnWing. Last time my parcel was less than R500 so no tax, but it seems that I'll have to pay tax and pay DawnWing to "handle" it? Do they need to pick it up at customs or what?

Anyone know if I will have to pay VAT and duties if I buy a bike for use while in Europe on a business trip and I just bring it with me when I come back rather than selling it?

You are still going to Pay 14% vat+ 10% atv.

I just saw these posts from way back in 2015. Does this mean that if I travel to the UK, buy a bike and use it for the short time that I am there, and then bring it back with me, I pay the 14% VAT and the 10% ATV, but NOT the 15% import duties applicable to importing a complete bicycle?

I must say, I have been very lucky this year with import duties. I only paid vat 3 times, once for frame and once for rims. Then for the rear hub, Front one I didnt pay. I realised afterwards, rather just wait for he goods to arrive at the post office before doing any queries.

For dealing with customs on your behalf... And clearing the item.

Is there a way I could do this myself?

I think you just got lucky... Waited patiently for mine and still paid duties. Didn't do no 'queries' either

get an importer's code and your own courier company, sure... Or get SAPO to handle your stuff.

I think that's what you need to do, at least.
