Saturday was a tyre massacure . . .(Had 2 flats myself - wife picked me up) Sunday , I went around the cradle without any problems - Saw 4/5 cyclists fixing tyres . . . more that the norm.

There is a dark green Landrover with at tent on a roofrack whom try to get as close as possible to the cyclists. I was almost on the gravel next to the road and he came past with his left tyres inside the yellow line and did the same with the 2 cyclists 50 eters infront of me.

I think this might be the same vehicle that buzzed my group

to be honest, I don't blame the residents of the Cradle area. What I witnessed on this loop over the weekend really made me open my eyes. Yes, you can flame me or send me some hate mail to shaun@sign-up.co.za, but unless we change our attitudes as cyclists, I am afraid that harmony will never be achieved between residents and cyclists.

Next time go around the Cradle in your/a car preferably with a total stranger and non-cyclist and hear what they have to say. Thank goodness this all comes to an end after 94.7.

Remember, don't throw stones in glass houses!!

Prozac, give that vehicle info to Joaquin. It might just make the Police realise that this is more serious than just a few drawing pins.

Already gave this info to Inspector Russow at Muldersdrift Police. Not the first incedent with this vehicle in the last few months.

I use that road past the Rhino Park as my route to and from Lanseria.I dread it every time as its a most unpleasant driving experience.

In fact if I was a cyclist I would not go there because of the dangers.

I still think there is a strong posibility that its not a resident but someone with a grudge and is looking to inflame the situation.

I agree 100% with you Shaun, the groups out at the cradle do tend to take up a lot of the road, I dont think it justifies someone throwing tacks down on the road or coming dangerously close to the cyclists but its a bit of a catch 22 situation there at the moment and its going to get out of control, going to the cops is probably not going to achieve much and if anything its going to fuel the fire.

The general attitude from Motorists is pretty bad to say the least, I train at 4am during the week and dont look forward to my weekend rides anymore because I ride from about 5/6am for 3-4hours and the roads are quite busy, the motorists seem to have this attitude that the road belongs to them and we have no right to be there, inevitably you'll get a couple of idiots who then think they need to prove this point but speeding past you with only millimeters between the car and the rider.

At the end of the day though, there's a certain responsibility as a cyclist I think to ensure we're also being fair to the other road users and if we dont do this the situation is never going to improve and thats where we need to start in my opinion.

Got sworn at exiting my Estate into Atlas road on the weekend. 3 cyclist thought it most unfair I did not give them right of way through the red light. Well done guys!

Ok so your roadies need to do this: Put up signs offering a R1000 reward for anyone with info regarding the problem. Thats a small community. People talk, staff talk, someone knows and everyone wants cash. If it doesn't get results at least it might scare the guilty parties from doing it again if they think everyone on the road especially pedestrians are looking out for them.

2 Punctures Sunday, thanks to the guys who helped me!

Not cool! :( especially as I am a considerate cyclist!!

Also cyclists will soon be the least of the Cradle's worries, Sunday BMW Club and Ferrari Club used the area as a race track obviously cottoned on to the fact that no cops around?

This craddle area sounds unsafe to ride bikes. I have seen all these threads on the hub about it, and i think you owes need to find a carpark, and race criteriums around it on sundays. Someones gona get killed. We just had an owe shot dead in the back down here in KZN last week.

I don't think the cyclists in the cradle are all crit racers. The photos I've seen are of big club rides with cyclists of all shapes and sizes all over the road. Seems to me, albeit with my admittedly limited understanding of the situation, all that is needed is:

1. Some ride marshalls with whistles and a good pair of lungs to create some order in these club rides.

2. Find out who is painting drawing pins and get them some psychological assistance.
