Yeah choclate milk is well known as a recovery drink. Read many articles about it, and just before the last hectic hill on my way home in the mornings is a garage, so i tend to stop there to buy my milky.

Amen to that. I love my bar one and coke though. Does the same thing but choc milk does the trick nicely. Actually knew that long time ago so I don't know why they had to do a study on it.....guess someone wanted something to do with their time and get paid to do it.

Sounds just like SA? Just a thought.

Very, VERY old news...

Still, probably just as good as any commercially available overpriced mix on sale. Just like the best sportsdrink you can make is make is just as good as the fancy premixed stuff. Remember this thread?

yeah...low fat milk works good as a recovery drink.

I currently use Low Fat milk, Milo, bit of honey and then chuck in an extra egg for a bit more protein.

Hey, you get healthy sweets, wine gums are good for weight loss, powerbands really do work, so rubbing your legs with any flavour milk will aid recovery. Throw out those compression socks - they make you look like you are recovering from a thrombosis anyway - and stock up on the nesquick...

The only reason I found this article is that I cramped badly on a ride yesterday. Has not happened for ages and I wanted something for recovery. (my legs are still sore)

I recon the cramps are due to my new bike that has not been setup correctly.

Milo straight after a race is the way to go.

We have been using it for quite some time, and it works as well if not better than those hideously expensive recovery drinks, and tastes better too.

Never mind for recovery, while doing the Satellite Challenge a guy on a battered hardtail passes me and he has what looks like chocolate milk in his bottle....

We get chatting and he tells me he is training for the Freedom Challenge and that is what he uses exclusively in his bottle/s. Then he ups and rides away from me.

Have not had the courage to use it myself yet

Except that the study and article is from the US.

Meh. People 'know' that their Power Balances work too. The difference in this case is that there is now actual research to back up the milk claims. That's why they had to do a study.
