I know you shouldnt train while on Anti-Biotics....but flippit

Had tonsilitis a month or so ago, got Augmentin, was fine, left it for two days after it was finished and started training light. Was at Dr AGAIN last week, this time throat infection (have a little germ transporter, who imports the stuff from his school)

The idiot of a dr said I can start training again after two days, and like an idiot I did just that and went for long ride yesterday. So today, I feel lekker k*k. Now what, do I finish the course and wait and see what happens, or should I take off training for a week?

So desperate to get back on track again

Go get a vitamin B injection at your local pharmacy. Then always take a good multi vitamin supplement everyday with an additional 1000mg of Vitamin C.

Go get some Barrocha Boost and you should be fine in a few days - but I am no doc so don't hold me to it

Oh and don't train when you are feeling *** - you are feeling *** for a reason.

Generally an anti-biotic course needs to be finished. So lay off the training, finish the course and then get back to training. chances are you will be training better and sooner than if you trained through.

I made the mistake of doing the Argus MTB ride last year with a flu and because of that silly mistake I ended up in an ambulance on the ride (partly because of the heat as well). It tooks me MONTHS to recover!

So rather take the week off, allow the body to recoup and it will do wonders for you if you've been training hard up to the point when you got sick

Can anybody tell me how antibiotics depress your immune system??

anti biotics kill off your white blood cells along with the infection it is fighting. Less white cells makes you more vulnerable to infection, that's a pretty simple explanation of a compromised immune system due to antibiotics.

Must say that Berocca Boost's not too bad at all!

*Hijack on*

Regard is that your real name? it's my son's name, just spell it Reghardt. Wanna get a tattoo with his starsign and meaning of his name "strong ruler/brave warrior" combined

Hijack off

Ja well, I would also say you and the Dr be damn stupid.

Fit people have died from heart failures before because they trained or competed while still suffering from flu or the aftereffects thereof.

Rather take the time off and do maintenance on your gear if you feel the need to bond with your cycle(s).

What a load of bollocks.

Antibiotics certainly do not kill off white blood cells.

They also do not suppress your immune system.

Its the infection that you need to worry about.
