  1. So by that reckoning I should grade the pavement that took me out as a black trail too...? Just because you made a mistake means nothing with regards to the trail rating.
  2. Lol...then you need to open them eyes of yours or stop walking the portage on Never Ending. Those corners are harder to ride than any on Cobra too. To kittie litter over hardpack, narrowness of the trail and exposure make it mentally far tougher to ride as well. It is simply put, more difficult to ride than Hoogies Cobra, and IMO, appropriately graded according to IMBA.
  3. It's not about "enduro". Forget that term or type of racing exists. People want more variety and challenges. Enduro is a form of racing point to point against a clock. That happens what, 3 times a year maybe for some people. Who cares. It's the other 363 days a year we're talking about.
  4. Look, many of us stopped going to the AGM's (as I have with my body corporate) because it appeared as though it was a forum where members were told what decisions had been made. Very little was ever voted on in my experience. At one AGM in particular we were explicitly told no discussion would be undertaken on trails, etc. So...can you imagine why nobody feels like they should go...
  5. And that matters why exactly? The club has paying members asking for this, the club has LOST members because of this. If you want sushi, there are plenty of places in the ville to get.
  6. It's balance to the Force you nab....P.S. Star Trek is better!
  7. Then??? That's a lot of question marks.. If anyone is qualified to query things it is the ones who were let down enough to speak with their money and leave. They still care about MTB riding and see a future. I can tell you now...Being a member doesn't make you a "non-casual" member, as being a non-member doesn't make you a casual.
  8. Let's hope there is lots of feedback. I would think your last question is incredibly sensible.
  9. Holy hell...that is the best manner I have ever heard that put! "The plural of anecdote is not data.". Brilliant!
  10. Waahahaha ... somewhere between that old Ezel and now I have managed to loose one of those elbow guards
  11. Don't see why I should admit something that ain't true
  12. A smooth criminal?
  13. Some EWS guys. Most are running closer to 30PSI and inserts often.
  14. 4k...I run 26PSI in a Spez Elim GRID on the front and 27 PSI in the Butcher Black Diamond rear...and I weigh 73kg with a sock on. If I run lower pressure than that, the probability of pinches (esp on the rear) is too high. Hell...DHR2 EXO+ at 30PSI and dead...that EXO+ is poo poo for a rear tyre if you trying to haul assssss.
  15. Yes, yes it damn well is So underrated in RSA
  16. Exactly. It is something that has been happening for decades and will continue. I guess in the 90's we had no "established" trail centres, so perhaps it was a total necessity then. However, now we do, and they are clearly not catering for many types of riding that people want/need I mean some slow tech, off camber, fewer berms, etc, etc. Nobody want's or needs a WC level DH track (although in actuality we kind of do as we don't have one at all), but just something ... different I guess to the monotony. More like Switchbacks at Tokai as a basic example. Anyway, I don't see it happening anytime soon unfortunately.
  17. Ever think about why ppl feel the need to build trails in places like that? May it be that they feel the general trails built by our official means are inadequate, monotonous and uninteresting? I mean take Status Quo at jonkers for example...amazing trail. Was not built legally initially...we all know it, we all love riding it (even though it makes me poo myself). I mean i am not saying it's OK to do it illegally, but that if ppl feel they are not getting what they ask for they are going to find a way to get it. The TMNP Activity Permit is another story...if we could see some of those funds going back into the trails I think people would be far happier to pay the price. It is not expensive, as you say. As for Tokai MTB...well yes, also not expensive. So worthwhile as well. But as long as MTB has been around ppl have been building trail, ad they will continue to for as long as it is around. That's how you get the real progression in the sport IMO. P.S. I has (as yet) not built illegal trail, unless you count fixing some stuff up in Majik forest that had been neglected for ages
  18. Yep, any level permit you buy counts as having any other lower level permit.
  19. Well that makes it even worse then
  20. Yep, this is the generic k@kapoeffie answer they always give. I guess they do some work around Kirstenbosch trails. But absolutely nothing anywhere else regarding MTB. And even less than zero when it comes to climbing related. Really pathetic.
  21. Would still love TMNP to tell us what the use the Activity Permit money from MTB and Sport Climbing for to put back into the community. From my 8+ years trying to deal with their absolute horse $h1t on this subject they are yet to show anything spent. Especially for climbing. Sorry, build your own path, bolt your own route, maintain your own, etc, etc, etc. honestly it really should be boycotted until they commit to giving back to the ppl paying for these. Not enough bureaucracy to catch everyone if nobody has a permit. Not that the community would rally together for that anyhoo.
  22. Droo is mostly right... BUT...I still wanna know if there is a Mcrae mode...
  23. liiiiikeeee? Does the Scooby come with a secret "Mcrae" mode you can activate? Turn steering wheel 90 degrees clockwise, put in reverse, depress clutch, place tongue in 12V outlet and turn key?
  24. Ping this dude... https://www.facebook.com/ttmathlete/
  25. Been working on capturing some MTB Tyre mass data if anyone is interested. Let me know (PM) if there is a make and model you want to have added). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dujFCFfN0vkw47tZo96Hr3jJWQ9IVTVdhHPagejZxNw/edit?usp=sharing
