  1. I was also going to send you a message at some point. The rides dont show as virtual so it really had me guessing.
  2. nice to see you log a ride on an actual road for a change, I was starting to think you had moved to the land down under
  3. is that the normal orange or the endurance ?
  4. Getting some vertical training done. Did 2 repeats of Linksfield Drive
  5. Stunning pic
  6. of all the hundreds of times I've ridden through there this is the first time I've had an issue. But yes, its a wakeup to be a little more alert.
  7. Into a 30km/h collision course with a pedestrian. Lady was to deep in conversation with her friend to look back for traffic before crossing the road or to even hear me shout. Tried to swerve but with limited space I landed up connecting her good and solid with my left arm which sent me on a collision course with the pavement. I prepared myself for getting chuck OTB when the front wheel was to hit the pavement, praying that the car pulling off on the other side would take evasive action. Fortunately the weeds and dirt next to the pavement created a little ramp and I was able to clear the pavement, avoid getting hit by the car and stay upright. I'm not sure where I hit her, when I checked on her she was rubbing her head but seemed to be to shocked to reply to any of my questions. As for me, lekker sore and probably bruised arm, but other wise bike and body seem to be ok.
  8. We decided to wear ties to work today, this is my tie
  9. I see from your favourite tyre rolling resistance website that the F1s and the Cinturatos have a very similar rolling resistance.
  10. but which Pirelli's did you try ? They're not the fastest rolling tyre, but the cinturatos have been marvelous. (and they come in tan sidewall too)
  11. have to agree with this. Since I'm very much one of the toppies that still go to the same races it also means I started riding when everyone on the road was still social. Now in person I'm a reserved quiet type, you dont find me making much conversation. Yet I seem to be one of the very few that do any talking during races these days. Mostly its chirps and wise cracks, some times you get a laugh from someone, most times you can just see the smirk on peoples faces and then holding back the laugh. Cycling is serious bizniz.
  12. still waiting for OP to come back with more details. Is it just me that wants to change the thread title to "Never dont trust anybody" ? You know like the Never Dont Give Up hashtag.
  13. so then we need to look at why ? Comrades is a point to point race. So same logistics as Amashova. Its also out of town. So accommodation costs travel costs etc. Granted you dont need to take a bike with though. Do we have to many cycle races ? Not enough marketing ? Not enough live coverage ? Maybe we need some shorter races with added incentives ? Hill climb events ?
  14. here's a question, have running races seen the same decline in entrants ? I'm not talking park runs but proper races, 21km plus ?
  15. but then the same can be said for all the tshwane races.
  16. This is not bike related, but I rekon this is probably the most correct thread for this without starting an entire new thread. Reason I say this is that it could relate to bikes that stand around for a long time without being used. I have a generator that I seldom use, we prefer to rather just go without power than have a noisy gennie running. A few months back I tried to get it started but it would just not catch, occasionally it would back fire, occasionally it would catch and die straight away. I spent hours stripping and reassembling the carb on a few different occasions. Thought the only other thing could be the spark plug which I changed. Then on sunday we had an unscheduled power outage, not knowing how long the power was going to be out for I decided to give the gennie one last try. Somewhere in the back of my mind this though came through about the petrol perhaps being old, so I drained the fuel and added a few litres of fresh petrol. Of course because of all the previous attempts at starting and for some reason I left the key in the on position the battery was now flat. So I attempted to pull start, with a back still stiff and painful for digging up water pipes on the thursday I only gave it a half hearted pull. But 3 pulls later and is was running. Some splattering and coughing because there was some old fuel mixing it up in there but it eventually settled down. So back to bikes. If you've got a bike thats been standing for a while, make sure to drain the fuel and put in fresh fuel before trying to get it running again.
  17. and depending on how clever the ecu is on the bike it may even need an ecu fooler so the ecu thinks there is still a cat in place. I'm sure it must be the same on bikes, cars with cats normally have an o2 sensor before and after the cat and adjust the ecu accordingly, remove the cat and either the ecu throws the state of tune way out or chucks up a check engine light. You can run the bike decatted without a tune and just an ecu fooler, but you wont be getting the full advantage of the decat.
  18. informative video, thanks. Looks like the driver is the one I need to go for.
  19. I wonder how they got the seeding so screwed up. I foresee alot of chaos on the day.
  20. i'm talking impact wrench vs impact driver. I know the difference between drill and driver, hence me lusting after an impact driver/wrench
  21. power steering for bicycles you read it here first folks.
  22. other than the chuck/nose/connector thingy (yes that is the official technical name for it ok ), what are the core differences between an impact driver and impact wrench ? The wrenches always seem to be slightly cheaper.
  23. Sorry man, that must hurt with all the effort and organization that goes into it. Would love to have added 1 more entry to the tally but budget and timing do not allow me to this year.
  24. What colour was the BMW? any other details you can share?
  25. ebikes, suspension seat posts, plush rides, damped steering, looks like the new generation of golfers are pretty soft.
