  1. I spotted this earlier at Sportsmans wharehous. I wonder how it compares. https://ride.lezyne.com/collections/multi-tools-category/products/1-mt-stdr-v104t5
  2. The problem comes not only with the complexity but with the smaller tolerances. Everything is being built with the least bit of overengineering possible, all in the name of keeping costs down. That means things break easier. As for the Kwid, you just need to spend a day here seeing them coming in next door on flat bed trucks to realise you'll probably be spending more keeping them on the road then is justifiable.
  3. check with those people, I can pretty much guarantee they have no retirement savings and are relying on the company pension/provident fund. And you are right, the way they are financing is not sustainable. They can get away with a couple of cycles, but it soon catches up to them. Especially if they use this buying method on cars with rubbish resale values.
  4. Since I'm in the industry let me comment. The banks will still only let you installment be 1/4 of your monthly income, but people are going with maximum RV values on their purchases or financing over 96 months. So your 400k polo is R6.5k per month, so they are only earning just over 300k per year. They are however also pretty much maxed out with all other expenses so if any further outlay is required they are screwed. But there is a big shift in spending patterns on vehicles. More people are going for the cheaper makes. Renault next door to us is pushing our Kwids and Kigers at an alarming rate. Yet everysingle person that walks across from them to us will comment on how crap the renault is, but they will still buy the renault over the honda because its cheap.
  5. have you seen the price of used caravans ? I only know this because I dropped a car off at a panel shop that is next to a caravan place and saw the prices. eye watering. I only paid a fraction more for my house.
  6. what happened ? why were they stopped ? I turned around from actually doing some work to look at the TV and they were stopped, and then got interrupted before I could find out why
  7. That was so awesome to see
  8. i cant get up from my desk right now. 🤤 Damn. I thought porn was banned from this site.
  9. You can see the guys are shattered, 3 weeks of racing taking its toll. Yet they still climb faster than me on fresh legs
  10. and now under E-***-ureni we have to read our own water meters and send in the readings as the meter readers contract was not renewed and they have not appointed anyone
  11. I stopped paying them in the 90's already. Went to 4ways mall the one day, get swamped with car gaurds. When I came out my drivers side mirror was missing, not a car guard in site.
  12. +1 , my wifes long nozzle candle lighter was repurposed for this use when we got a gas oven.
  13. next week my wife's company have a meeting about new working structures. We are very worried they are going to want her to come back to work at the office. Its not just the fuel, its also the cost of the day care for the kids.
  14. I only had the house and the car, credit card was merrily for convenience and settled in full every month. then I got un employed. The downward spiral is vicious. even more so when you cant get back into earning what you did before, but instead just grab any job you can find.
  15. Thanks, so my theory is correct then because you already had a Solar setup I assume ? That was done when we insulated the roof. Geyser also sits directly above the bathroom that we all use, so no heat loss through pipes on the way to the shower.
  16. Agreed. Though to a point. Way to hot and you're wasting energy, so turning it down will help.
  17. Has anyone done the calcs of using a 2kw vs a 3kw element in terms of consumption ? My theory is that the 2kw will run for longer then the 3kw to heat the same amount of water to the same temperature. Therefore the amount of energy used would be the same. I understand the reasoning of going to the 2kw when you're running off back systems, I'm talking particularly of when it runs off Eskom.
  18. its the upfront costs that is the problem. Lets see what SARS gives me back and I'll take it from there.
  19. Thanks Anything to look out for ? Not do ? Must do ? Stay clear of ?
  20. Has anyone done a Solar conversion to a standard geyser ? Right now the bulk of my usage is to the geyser, even with having it on a timer, I'd like to reduce that.
  21. I saw that when going through your strava, after my comment above. but silvia's, on a SS, maybe if I drive to the bottom and climb on fresh legs, but I seriously doubt I'll get up there.
  22. you did a fair bit of back tracking in certain places. A bit of revision to the route can cut down on the back tracking a fair bit. But a great ride, all done on a SS makes it even more impressive. Well done.
  23. what are they going to do if you dont pay ? cut you off ? hahahaha
  24. Tried to watch the last 50km yesterday using Tiz Cycling, but it would stop streaming every 5 minutes requiring a website refresh to get it going again. Am I doing something wrong ?
  25. Straight past my house
