  1. I had enough of that nonsense .... IndieVelo just WORKS. Same hardware: - Zwift - it WORKS (just a pity about the exchange rate and resultant costs) - MyWhoosh - issues and more issues ... spend stupid amount of time at night, system seems fine. Tomorrow morning during the ride it drops again ... - IndieVelo - it WORKS No idea if this is a PC issue, or a Win11 issue, or whatever ....
  2. NOBODY is forcing you to do anything. IF reaching 21 rides is a goal, then "you" will appreciate their effort. If not, move along ... enough moaners ....
  3. NO, you never ever "just shift a date". There are MANY other things planned year in and year out around the "second Sunday in March".
  4. Steep up creates another learning opportunity. Teach them to take it at some angle, thus not straight up. They very quickly grasp this concept. Maritz ..... computer game age now .... I MISS our times on the trails ....
  5. So no more cycling to the shop then ? Mommy on the cell in town trumps any highway .... Sadly, we take a risk when we go out of our drive way. Heck, some manage to snap ankles in their driveway all on their lonesome ..... Friday here we come ...
  6. NICE There is a nice steep grass section at Bloemendal. PERFECT for learning to feather the brakes, as well as body position on the down and up rides. Probably 1,2m drop in total .... well worth searching for something like this in your area. Nice repeatable training. For the school series, well worth working on track stands and being ready to bolt when the riders ahead moves. Also to stop and hold the track stand when the groups stuffs up ahead .... each time they have to put their feet down and restart they loose touch with the group. And then Maritz started playing with track stands, and hopping the front wheel to the side ... eventually doing a 90 degree turn on the spot without putting his foot down .... They are fearless and pick up these skills so easy ....
  7. Perfect example is where the N1 passes through towns such as Worcester. Between towns you have the freeway sign, but just before you enter town you have this sign with the red cross confirming it is no longer a freeway.
  8. One might get the impression some cyclists are not familiar with K53 ....
  9. Drive to "Rietdakkie" padstal. They have a couple of trails starting from the padstal. And the farmer is VERY keen to talk about cycling and the options in the area. YES .... a couple of farmers have had enough of cyclists, so some old routes are NOT accessible .... best to make sure before you enter any farms. Bit of a drive, but well worth it. Go past Ceres to Eselfontein ....
  10. Taiwan split away in 1949.... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.taiwan.gov.tw/content_3.php%23:~:text%3DThe%20ROC%20government%20relocated%20to,rule%20of%20a%20different%20government.&ved=2ahUKEwjlrszbhaWJAxWNxQIHHZdNH4IQFnoECBwQBQ&usg=AOvVaw0lvVAeXhU6-60yTAIukA2V Lots of claims and counter claims ever since. Until 1994 SA sided with Taiwan. By 1999 I was studying with a lady whose parents were senior staff in the Taiwanese consulate. She was telling us how the new SA regime was sidelining Taiwan as it was accepting chinese with open arms. Despite various claims, Taiwan stil operate independantly from china .... Back on topic - I still prefer Taiwanese quality over chinese junk dump ....yea sure, grossly exagerated for effect.
  11. Dankie vir die vertaling .... my head is spinning from meds, and this went way over my head .... Thats my story and I am sticking to it .... 🤦🏻‍♂️
  12. @Jbr once you done drawing that scene .... the door will no longer be red .... and the entire pic will be so much better ... every so often I see an okay photo of a potentially excellent scene ... always wonder how it would look once you do your magic
  13. @Jbr is the man ....
  14. You saying it does not make it so. I can factually state "made in Taiwan" is one heck of a lot better quality than the stuff the chinese dump here ....
  15. Not YET .... Is it you sliding down the rabit hole ... ? 😋 I got suckered into my first 5km event in April ... now averaging 2 events per month ....
  16. Look how Durbie Dash an 99er are embracing a wider clientele .... Missed opportunities. And more importantly ... missing the opportunity at roping the kids in for life .... Heck, I might even do a 30km MTB on Saturday and then CTCT on Sunday ...
  17. Been a number of reports of the decreasing numbers of cyclists in Britain. Seems it peaked a few years back. Can only wonder how this impact event entries ....
  18. Some nice specials at MiFitness - https://www.fitnessnetwork.co.za/fitness-equipment/exercise-bike At least with these suppliers there is some expectation of backup when the bike needs some parts. Unlike the big brand stores ...
  19. Arno dit kan n lang kuier raak ... Ek sit nou al twee dae verlof in voor die CTCT vir die Potch bus ... 👍 JA, ek het laas aangeraai hulle ry via jou dorpie ... apple pie by Lazy Lizzard, ens. Maar daai stuk RY hulle. Dan is dit familie kuier in Rawsonville.
  20. Bygone era where paper mail worked perfectly. Postal order (?) for payment .... Credit card payment on that machine where the details where rubbed onto a slip .... sometimes took weeks for that slip to work through the system .... now an instant tap of the watch/phone or card for the tech slow ....
  21. Hoop ons kan n plan maak om te kuier voor of na die tyd 👍 Dan kan ek jou dalk voorstel aan die Potch groepie ook ... tannie Ansie se eerste Argus was sy al 47 jaar jonk.
  22. 1. Sizing between brands differ vastly !! I loved the fit of the L Scott. No way I could ride the L Giant. Heck, a buddy had a L Scott, just ordered the new L Scott. Sure 10 years between them. He had to drop the seat post ALL the way down ... only the lift of the cleats made it work .... few nervous moments there !!! Never ever trust a sizing chart. Do a test ride. 2. Couple of posts above have confirmed there IS STOCK in L. Sounds like it is limited and may be consigned to other stores already .... phone calls ... track em down !!! Many shops are poor with emails, topic for a different day ... 3. Your shop needs to move stock !!! Basic business ..... their answers are often tainted by this business requirement ... learn this lesson early, and filter answers accordingly. 4. Age and growth spurts .... one of the most unpredictable, and expensive, realities of having kids. So very tempting to say buy the XL "you will grow into it". But ... if your next growth spurt is in 9 months time, and if some geometry on that bike does not work for you .... it can cause all kinds of injuries and issues .... Suggestion .... does your current ride still fit you ? Ride it until that next growth spurt ....
  23. Few months back I needed a basic but function fork for my gravel roadie cross .... Surving the various suppliers quickly delivered more confusion than results .... Fork in hand I popped in a Mark. I understood the aim of the project. Uhmm, wag, ek bel gou ... 1 minute later the correct part was ordered. The likes of Mark are invaluable to these projects. Hope your local bike shops can assist like this to hunt down that elusive part for your projects.
  24. Well said. A time and a place for each. This is where I love my Varia. Coming down Bainskloof, even Franschhoek pass, I hate being squeezed into that ditch. I spend time at the top reading the traffic, trying to find an open spot .... then sprint down mid lane ... keeping an eye on the Varia. When a vehicle catches up, I look for a safer passing spot, sit up, slow down, and wave them past. The last 7km to Philladelphia is probably one of our worst spots .... most drivers a nice to cyclists though. Again, another spot where the Varia helps. When i see an oncoming vehicle, from the front, I look at the Varia to see if another might cross this vehicle close to me. Gravel, if safe to do so, nasty step lately, so often risky. Varia blinking super fast as the car catches up, and a gentle wave of the arm. Not fool proof, at least I am trying.
  25. One of my clients is a health and safety practitioner. He gets roped into the CTCT team each year. He is also a keen cyclist .... Our meetings are scheduled to finish in the afternoon. Nice parking spot under the watchful eyes of their own security team. Then he advises me of the route options, noting present conditons ... road works, weather, crime flare up spots ... off I go half argus, or a Chappies to Seattle, or some fun on the Silvermine trails. Timed right, I get to take photos of the sun setting. And drive back to Bellville after peak traffic. Sorry, back on track. Imagine the inner stress these people go through when they have to provide risk matrix answers for their section ... full knowing that the combination of answers triggers a go or no-go response. My biggest problem now .... waiting for them to start their next project ....
