  1. If this kid is 17 today .... then he was 13 or 14 at the time of the transgressions .... All stories have multiple sides .... but noting the consistent results of multiple appeals .... not taking advice from a then impressionable kid in this matter. Sad reality .... these attempts to shield the perp speaks volumes of "child grooming" .... and why most countries are strict on this ..... except when billiinaires are being protected ....
  2. Good tyres deserve good rims Good rims really deserve thee best hubs ... Now you can skimp on the drive train ... This truly deserve better than a cookie cutter mould boring frame ....
  3. So many of us have bloods drawn, for other reasons, often every 6 months. Once the needle is in, they might as well keep filling test viles ... Every 6 months I add; . Lipogram . Total PSA (F1088) . Vitamin B12 PS ...the othe 2 relates to potential risks due to my chronic conditions and meds .... worth checking with your doctor which of that long list adds value to YOUR screening, over and above the bloods directly related to your primary diagnosis .... PPS ... some interesting videos of the current research of the finger tio test ... it HAS its uses, but some are hinting this may become more a secondary test, only after other tests and symptoms
  4. I had a femer fracture. It was set with a plate ... back in 1986 ... Few years later it was "interesting" how the specialists had different opinions about removing it .... rolled the dice, and had it removed. Would be interesting to get a couple of orthos around a braai fire and to ger the low down on pros and cons ....
  5. Reach out to Dragon Sports to find out who are authorised distributors. D'Ville cycles inDurbanville has been selling Giant since 2024.
  6. As an e-biker I always start after 7.00. My first event I started in the last group. My 3rd event I dropped back to start with a charity group .... The "traffic" is significantly better than the later groups .... I am again supporting the I-Love-Boobies charity, but not drppoing back again .... traffic at the back is something else ... Your start should be good for a nice ride. Just be alert for the odd racer starting later and blasting up the groups .... not many events prepare you for 25 000 riders ... NOTHING can prepare you for the VIBE !! People all along the route people are chearing you on .... It is such an awesome day out.
  7. EDIT - seeding is typically sent out over a number of days .... with all the provisors above ...
  8. So many of the posts (on this and many similar threads) reference a "white bakkie" ... Each time I get to the parking area at a CYCLING event .... cant help but laugh at the fact that half the white bakkies are in that cycling parking lot .....
  9. I drive a good bit during working .... some of the road behaviour is downright scary .... I do have a front facing camera ... . I was able to help a lady that got T-boned by a driver skipping a red light ... . On one occation a driver nearly took off the front of my vehicle with a dangerous lane merge and blindly jumping accross lanes ... a blip of the hooter just lit his fuse !!! In the midst of his cursing tirade I pointed to the camera and said: "Let's see if your employer (fully branded company vehicle) agrees with your version when he sees the footage" .... all colour drained from his face .... (no, I did not download the footage) A decade of having the camera .... was usefull 3 or 4 times. Still nice to know I have the footage if it can help me .... Cycling and road rage ....scary .... best avoided .... (clearly you were an innocent party in what was revving up for a very bad situation)
  10. Hopefully cooller than today .... Hopefully less wind than recently ...
  11. That PLUS a video to post on all social media ... faces, number plates AND the details of the cop that took the call .... to dinges with popia and all that stuff when these drunks endanger our lives ....
  12. Sien, met disc remme sou jy betyds kon stop 😋

    Cape Epic 2026

The two lads on Orbeas ... are they coming ? Love how they rattle the establishment ....
  14. @Zebra has been putting miles on his disc brake bike, in all weather conditions. Also @BuffsVintageBikes and many more ....
  15. Interesting .... Thule knows the game, they know the regulations .... those promo photos needs a numberplate and lights .... basically a "trailer board" .... (same requirement for all of these brands, just found the Thule add surprisingly non-compliant)
  16. Either of you got a new phone ? I had a "similar" experience after Banhoek Trailseeker .... my ride just would not load, but my walking activities did ..... then the penny dropped. I immediately repaired my watch to the new phone. Used my watch for the first few bike rides ... and never gave it a second thought. Once I finally got around to pairing the Edge with my new phone everything worked again.
  17. Very interesting statement, and alligns completely with what we see in the pro peleton. Then again, those races have full road closures and have the option to "work with the wind". For the local fun rides, every so often slow riders hear: "Keep LEFT..." In this context it makes more sense for the slower riders to keep to the same side and allowing the faster riders space to have a clean race. The sports starts when a rider was passed, now caught on the left .... now the group sits up and slows down while they wait for the next breakaway ..... I have once gone left into the gutter (wide cement section) and got back to my normal speed and passed the now slow group .... Actually found myself in a similar spot on Saturday, except no shoulder to pass. I litterally stood on the pegs and looked to the front and the back trying to figure out a solution. Gent next to me obviously noticed, then when he looked at me I asked if he could open a gap so I can get out of the box. Big thanks to him for helping me out. In most cases, in these fun rides, the riders dont expect somebody to creep up on the left side ... be it the surprise factor, or simple reducing their space to avoid road issues, it feels sketchy at best. Personally I avoid this as far as possible ... if a just one to pass, then I will communicate my intentions and only do so when I get the nod.... Tot old, I dont bounce any more, so I do this for my own safety as much as that of the peleton. Argus, especially when you start a bit later ..... Welcome to the World Champs of FUN rides .... chill bro ... stay safe first and foremost ... only gun it when 101% safe to do so ....
  18. The modern e-road-bikes are so far removed from the definition of an e-bike, i.e. : - MAX 250 power assist - Power assist limited to 25 or 32km/h I am conflicted on these new era e-race-bikes .... on the one hand I wish I could afford it .... then I remember two very real realities .... the CTCT approach allows FUN RIDERS on ebikes to join an hour after the main groups, they make it clear they dont want e-racers .... then the reality that sooner rather than later photos/videos are going to pop up of e-racers dragging buddies into prize winning positions ..... Going to suck big time when the organisers are forced into a corner because of 1 or 2 e-riders ....
  19. Option 1 - "timing error" ... Option 2 - a growth curve to take note off !!! CTCT 2025 in 6:22 Winelandes 2026 - DNS Nothing under Banhoek Two gents on e-bikes at Winelands were doing these times .... the one on a Trek "road bike" with two range extenders pre-wired .... his own words: "I am here to RACE, since we cant race at Argus". This individual seems to have entered a normal bike at three different events .... jip, yea, another topic .....
  20. Group N split at the railway bridge at Phisantekraal. On the climb up to the airstrip those four "P" riders came past .... they were MOVING !! It is always impressive to see these riders in action. At the time I was using the e-bike and rocking it up that hill to get ahead of a group of riders .... and the "ease" with which these four came past .... RESPECT !! They caught the front N riders shortly, and if I understood @RossTopher correct, they then worked together and had a pretty fast race.
  21. Thank you for the introduction. Always nice to put a face to the Hub names. I have always started way at the back, litterally hung back to make sure I do not mix it up in the racing for the rest .... as our group moved down the road I noticed a LOT of ebikes to the front of our group, so I just kept my spot behind you. As we past the barriers you saw a gap to the right and made a nice clean move ... and I followed. After that first turn we somehow ended on the far left, you spotted an open lane and went for it ... again I followed. Robot to robot the lane was congested, and we all just stayed in place. I lost track of you in this section. Once on Wellington road I could not believe it .... first time ever I made it out of Durbanville with my start group, all the way to the Phisantekraal turn. I got stuck behind a couple of riders and saw a group make a break for it over the railway bridge and then just extending the gap. By the airfield I was well past the back group ... never caught up to the front group again. Strange how small the gaps look on a photo, but just no way to bridge it .... It was a nice hard ride. After a 3:01 in 2025 .... I just kept my head down and kept GOING as much as my sinuss ridden body would give (keeping an eye on my heart rate, just to be safe .... leaving home on Saturday morning it was not clear if I would be able to complete the ride). Super happy with my sub-3 ....
  22. What are the tax implications of riding the bike on that side, then bringing it in using a normal bike travel bag ?
  23. Must agree with this request .... Set a time for price giving, set a time for lucky dtaw .... stick to it. With each postponement more grumbling people just walked away. Rider behaviour .... some seriously dangerous people out there ....near the green jersey section .... a lady was sitting on the side of the road, staying out of the busy wheels .... next moment a gent snaps 1,5m left ... dont know how she got out the way, that was way too close. Not a wisper, she just dropped back ..... next moment this gent realise what is happening and SNAPS 3m to the right !! I had to cross the mid line to ensure I stay out of his trajectory ..... Thankfully the ebike has a boost mode to get away from these sorts.
