  1. Generally new riders ride at a too low cadence. Ride at the correct cadence and you will improve and learn to ride more efficiently and for longer. This will allow you to ride with faster groups.
  2. Shouldnt. You not putting that much on and you only putting it on the outside of the tyre. If a bit mixes with the sealant I recon it won't make much difference.
  3. That's probably the dumbest video I've ever seen. Funny though.
  4. +1
  5. Have you put soapy water along the bead of the tyre? I couldn't believe what a difference it made. Just popped in to place.
  6. I have only tried the xtrs, and they are very good wheels. Bear in mind both of those wheels sets have expensive (non-standard) spokes, and yes I have broken quite a few. From an everyday perspective I suspect the Mavics might be better as they have a cartridge bearing. The xtr have a cup and cone bearing, which needs to be serviced more often. So I think the Mavics would need less maintenance. I'm not an expert though
  7. If I remember right you are supposed to do 12 inch steps or something. I honestly can't believe you can get a work out from doing fast 1 inch steps, and I always laugh at the people who do just that (and there are lots of them). I have never seen 1 inch steps, its logical that a bigger step is more beneficial. When you up the level it drops the resistance, which makes you take more steps per minute.
  8. Oh, and running 60km per week in a circle sounds like the most boring thing I could possibly think of in my whole life!
  9. I would train sitting in the saddle more than standing in the saddle. In the long run its more efficient. So personally I would train for longer periods on the bike, and do intervals at high resistance.
  10. specialised rib cage. I use it on the mountain bike and the bottle never comes out, no mater how rough it gets.
  11. There is a whole thread dedicated to how they calculate it, including clothes helmets etc. Its even "sticky"ed for your convenience.
  12. If your wheels turn at around 20 000 rpm it will be worth it. Otherwise its just pointless bragging rights.
  13. Yeah, I agree. I was in the same boat a while back, and I would have needed new wheels, and brakes. For XT for both would cos about 6k. Instead I got a full XT bike with fox fork etc etc for R10k. It was definitely more worth while cost wise.
  14. Boat race! whew, was that 5 years ago already. dam.
  15. Six hard spinning classes plus a long ride on the road sounds like over doing it a bit to me. You need rest days too.
  16. The horror
  17. Thug, you at Wits?
  18. This is going to look hot! Nice documenting.
  19. Its a bit far to drive after work, for me. But its excellent training and a nice ride.
  20. Cool, I have a bunch of stuff. If I can remember off the top of my head: v-brakes - levers and calipers shifters - 9 speed mtb (i think deore, but might be one down on that) Possibly a front and rear derailer. Will have to look this week end, before I can commit. Do you have a place toward JHB to drop off?
  21. I got mine from Linden Cycles, quite a while back, but at the time they had lots of stock and different colours.
  22. Glad I could take one for the team
  23. Dam I just placed an order on Friday
  24. The problem there is that there was a knife in the tyre....
  25. When you see people like Burry Stander bailing on the rock garden in PMB, and the amount of guys falling in Monte Saint Anne, Canada, which was carnage (and these are the top XC riders in the world), I would hardly agree that XC is like the green route at Rietvlei.
