  1. AlanD, drop me a PM, I'll help sort it for you.
  2. So I clicked the heading, expecting to contribute to a whip-round for dog food for Barry or skate parts or something of that nature  Not this. Hope you're up and about soon, Barry, all the best.
  3. Tyre pressure is critical on plus tyres, I swear I can feel the difference between 0.6 bar and 0.8bar. Grip is more about tyre choice, the Surly Knards are impossible in mud, but the newer plus tyres, Nobby Nic plus, Rekon+, Ikon+, Ranger, Purgatory, etc all have acceptable performance in the mud and wet. Oh, and 5 years in the market is hardly a fad IMO
  4. Look, I'm not convinced about the dual sus plus thing. I ride a Krampus (29+ for those who don't know) and chased my brother, riding a Spez Fuse 6Fattie, through all of the blue sections at Thaba Trails, and I feel I could do with 120mm travel fork instead of the rigid I'm running now. In two years riding this bike, I've never felt like I needed boing at the rear too.
  5. I don't understand why, on a "plus" bike, Spez have specced those measly, narrow, 29mm width rims to pair with the 3.0" tyre? If the Spez Fuse 6Fattie can get WTB Scrapers, why shouldn't this?

Not sure if this is a repost.....
  7. Two ABID drippers bought and paid for. Thanks again @iteachcoffee
  8. You, sir, are an officer and a gentleman......
  9. You're welcome......
  10. So I have an old Aeropress, got it 5 years ago. The print is blue, so hopefully Takealot is just using an old image......
  11. So, I'm an on-again, off-again runner that's been off for the better part of 18 months. Decided to get back on the horse again with the running now, but my old faithful shoes are going to need replacement. I've never been a big runner, happy to get to a comfortable 10km twice a week, prefer trail to road, which is reflected in my last choice of shoe, New Balance MT101. Any ideas on a similar style shoe as a replacement, seeing as NB has discontinued them and doesn't have anything similar in the range currently? Was thinking Inov8 Trailroc 255?
  12. I would concur wholeheartedly with this. I started with the Krups burr grinder, grinding for Aeropress. Picked up a La Cimbali Domus and the grinder was immediately out of its depth. Picked up a little Isomac Macinino grinder and coffee became great again. Then, upgraded my espresso machine to an Isomac E61. The little Isomac grinder is not quite up to the task, but its acceptable. Now I'm looking for a grinder to match, Mazzer, Sette, etc. It never ends......
  13. Well, that's appropriate.....
  14. Met Stretched@birth at Thaba Trails to get some dirt on the boys tyres. Did 10km with the half wheeler, mixture of green, orange and yellow trails Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  15. I've found that its quite handy for the nerd to keep a lookout for me, got my last three machines that way........
  16. Ran my Krampus SS for a while. Had to run one tooth bigger on the rear cog compared to my "normal" SS. Don't underestimate the rolling resistance on those 3.0" tyres!
  17. Your axle to crown requirements should be met by a Surly Krampus fork. Give Grant a shout at Sprocket and Jack, he'll be able to help with the Surly steel forks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  18. STR doesn't have horizontal dropouts, they're sliding dropouts, beeg difference.
  19. Surly Knard Surly Dirt Wizard Panaracer Fat B Nimble Vittoria Bomboloni WTB Ranger Bontrager Chupacabra Vee Trax Fatty Maxxis Chronicle All available in 29" x 3.0"
  20. I only have rigid forks on my bikes and have had for quite a while. My take: Carbon tube style rigid fork - lots of fore/aft movement under braking, not too confidence inspiring Kona P2 steel fork - surprisingly comfortable, some flex, but not disconcerting. Shoulda kept it and the bike it was attached to Niner Carbon RDO fork - No discernible fore/aft movement. The best rigid fork I have ridden, tracks the best, doesn't get knocked off line. Can be tiring in really rough stuff Surly steel fork - Not sure if the compliance is because of the 3" tyre, but seems a stable fork. Tracks well enough, but once again, could be the result of the giant balloon between its legs.....
  21. Gas stove? Slow heat, as low as possible. Pre-boiling water is quite important when using gas.
  22. We've been staying in Albany whilst on holiday and getting into the city takes some work. My cousin and his wife work near Smales Farm and Parnell Road respectively Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
