  1. If it is not an eggbeater, I will not fit it to my ride, nuff said!
  2. Makes me think of my great experience with Steve Bowman of CL North Gate on the Friday night before the Durbanville High School League race. Had a new bike (SL4) built the morning at my local Spez dealer, and just before packing my bike in the car for the race the next morning, I discovered a twisted cable under the BB. After sorting the twist out, both derailleurs were not shifting properly, so I called CL way after 5pm, and arrived at about 5:30pm. In no time Steve sorted my bike out and send me off with smooth shifting gears. What a guy, and what a bike shop!
  3. Phew, and I almost bought one of these as a trainer! Seems that they only good to put on an indoor trainer!
  4. Thanx for the warning Seeker, I wanted to get a set, but will rather stick to my Ultremos.
  5. Who is so stupid to put Sram Red on a Raleigh?
  6. I can't recall that I mentioned the value of a child's in my comment. Maybe I must rephrase - If you ride a Raleigh, buy a R250 helmet.
  7. Buy yourself the latest Ride magazine where a few helmets are reviewed. My choice of a helmet is the Specialized Prevail S-Works. Just remember the old saying, if you have a R250 head, buy a R250 helmet!
  8. I got myself a Lezyne floor pump, with a high pressure barrel. Inflates tubeless tyres without any problems.
  9. How was your ride G? In what bunch did you start, and when will I see you in Vets?
  10. I really enjoyed this bike today on its maiden mission, feels stiffer than the SL3, and although the geometry is the same, except for the top tube set-up, the bike was much more comfortable. A pro would obviously be able to tell detail differences, but generally, the bike just felt more stable, giving a more refined ride. It did not score me a podium position, but if I had the legs and the lungs like the other more seasoned vets, I would'nt have had any excuse not to stand on the wooden boxes marked 1, 2 or 3!
  11. Frame retails for R25K, but negotiating will land you a better price! Whats actually funny about the price is that everywhere else in the world, the price is between R28K and R31K, but the cheapest in SA!
  12. Thanx Dale! The SL3 frame is up for grabs at a good price (R12.5K). I considered the Venge, but the Tarmac is more my style. I liked the all-round-abilities more.
  13. Will only be able to compare the two tomorrow during the league race.

    SL4

    My new SL4....whoz your daddy?
  15. It is not the latex that causes the delamination, but the amonia in the sealant. Sludge Products makes an amonia -free sealant, called All Terrain. This product was specifically made for tubeless rims that are prone to nipple failure due to amonia, such as Mavic. It will be the best suited sealant for Maxxis tyres, which does not need much encouragement to delaminate.
  16. Don't be too surprised! Recently read that this is the new trend with pro's.
  17. Would love to support your cause, but I can't until I know which bike shop has employed such rude @ssholes.
  18. Mixing pasta with sushi will be fine, so if you have to fit a Jap group, it has to be Dura Ace, cause Tiagra and Sora would'nt cut it!
  19. Sorry, I will refrain from doing so in future, and maybe, just maybe I should try taking on the wild cause the fire roads are becoming a bit boaring. At least, my bike was designed to ride rough territory like the Epic.
  20. Dude, what part of 'my opinion' do you not understand? Did you fail grammar at school? When I used my 3 chain ring set-up, I could not use all the gears, and never ever had reason to use the granny, and I do ride off road fyi. But with my 2 x 10 drive train, I can (not that I do), use all 20 gears without any problems. Does that make sense? Back to the granny gear, no I am not Burry, although I ride the same bike as him, and unfortunately I don't do national XC races, but if I was stuck with an alu bike, I in all probability would have had enough reason to apply a tiny chain ring.
  21. It is my opinion that 2 x 10 gives you more gears than a 3 x 10 cause you can ride cross chain and utilise all 20 gears, unlike the 30 speed set-up. Going 2 x 10 for me just made sense, cause I have never used a granny gear.
  22. If you want your bike sorted out first time, take it to CWC cause they have now employed Colin (ex Cycle Lab Northgate).
  23. Please post a pic of Scott Scalpel 29er Pro, would love to see such a bike! No wonder there is a mix-up with the price, cause there is a mix-up with the bike
  24. ...and for a 29er.
