  1. You get nailed with duties on pads from crc. Rather go to your local motorbike shop. Its cheaper than you think. I know the Thor stuff is very well priced.
  2. Of course they do have horisontal drop outs as any single speed. How else will you adjust the chain tension 100%. A Vbrake bolts to the frame. Then the brake block can adjust to line up with the brake surface of the rim. I need a vbrake that can adjust the brake block more than normal.
  3. Hi jadon 10-15mm is nothing. In fact i think that is pretty much normal. Most people have uneven legs and they dont even know it. My legs are 25mm different. I dont do anything and just carry on as normal. I've done a couple of Comrades and other ultras. My running style has addopted to the dissability. Cycling too is no problem. I set my saddle to between my short and long leg. I raise my heel of the short leg and sag the heel of the long leg. Stop worrying aboput it as theres nothing you can do about it.
  4. Will this race be ok for a cyclocross bike?
  5. A boy racing at my bmx track got a new frame. Geometry has evolved on bmx's (as all bicycles) too longer front ends but shorter chainstays. Problem is now with the rebuild his v brake's brake blocks cant reach the brake surface of the rim. Yes this can be solved by moving the rear wheel back but the whole idea is to have the rear wheel as close to the bb as possible as this is the modern thinking about bmx geometry. Are there v brakes out there with longer adjustment on the brake blocks? Does anyone maybe have an old vbrake at home with more than normal adjustment. All help appreciated.
  6. That must be awefull when you realise your brakes are gone and something bad is about to happen but you dont know yet how bad. It reminds me of the joke: I want to die like my grandfather one day. Nice and quiete in his sleep and not all shouting and screaming like the guys on the back of his bakkie!
  7. I race BMX 30-39 and I am the only one in our category that rides with a brace. I use the leatt. Cant recall having seen anyone with an Omega. Have seen little ones with those collars. this weekend is SA's. Will give feedback about braces worn next week.
  8. It just took you less than an hour to tell us that you dont do Ironman.
  9. A friend recently bought a bike of the hub and he went on his first ride the gears didnt work 100%. He brought the bike for me and then we realised that the 10sp bike and chain had a 9speed cluster on. Long story short is that the 10s chain works perfect on the 9 speed cluster. The problem was with the shifting but when its set on a specific sprocket then it runs smooth. it was an honest mistake and the cluster was swopped to a 10sp one. All sorted.
  10. I use RedHot Products chain and casset cleaner. Works very well and its a local company. 400ml Aerosol retails at about R90 and will give you about 5 efford less cleans. Just spray it on and and then hose it of. No brushing or getting dirty envolved. No I dont work for them.
  11. I also bought a Parktool chain measure tool and it doesnt work. Was about to replace a chain as the tool measure .75 wear but then when i measure 10 links it was still for from .75 I now still use it as a quick check but think the 1.0 mark is nearer to actual .75 The reality is that by measuring 10 links are much more acurate than a tool checking 3 or 4 links!
  12. If you tell people that you do ironman they think that you are mad. Turns out Ive got a lot of mad friends too. Going to be awesome to do an amazing event with almost 10 friends around me.
  13. Me too. We are 7 guys and girls doing 180km tomorrow from Kempton if someone wants to join. PM me if keen. The pace in our group will vary between 30 ave - 24 ave.
  14. I dont think this law firm is relevant as the victim is obviously living in the USA!
  15. BMX SA legs 1&2 first weekend in April Ironman 2nd weekend in April Climbing Mount Mckinley in June BMX SA legs 3&4 first weekend in July
  16. [personally they obviously know its going to happen and have loosely discouraged it. if people act like total w@nkd035es racing through the backmarkers then they might get stricter. spoils the fun for everyone. - i wonder how many of these okes acting like tjops are doing big miles for a 180km ride in pe soon, they would explain a lot. I am doing the 180km funride in pe but opted to ride 1 lap only with my wife on the tandem and then did a run straight of the bike.
  17. I also used them this weekend. Hasnt seen any movement on my ct card yet except for the R2000 swipe when I collected. Monday afternoon on my return the person who helped me told me they are receiving 1300 cars on monday alone!!!
  18. Someone else said that I should break up the bike and bring it in as components as the duty will come down from around 35% to 15%. Obviously then i have to pay someone to put it back together a refit the bike (I'm not experienced enough). Any suggestions? No duties on components and 15% on complete bike.
  19. The way i understand the seeding is that they use certain races that qualify for seeding. Your best one of those races counts. I ride Argus with my wife and they seed us according to my seeding only.
  20. The Ironman cut off is 17 hours. There are also cut off times for the swim (2h20), Bike (10h30 total time). Thus it is a challenge achievable to the masses. Ironman is only a race for a select few athletes. The other 1500 people are competing against them self. And a finish is most of the times even better than a win for the pro's. My wife is doing her first Ironman in April after having two kids. She is aiming for the late 15h mark but 16h59 will also do. Then ive got a climbing mate who fell of a rock and broke both ancles bad. had numerous operations and he is also doing it. He is planning to walk the marathon. Point is Ironman is for anyone with guts and determination and most people have very different back grounds and expectations. Maybe better not to judge on face value.
  21. Why the Freeride seat post?
  22. Obike has the Schwinn fastback cx cyclocross with 9sp tiagra for R5k. It will need some work to get the panniers working.
  23. I didnt do the race but my friends who did are all complaining about the same thing. With a R690 entry fee you expect a well orginised event with enough of everything. And it was the SA long distance champs!!!
  24. Just had a look at the weather and maybe go as light as possible. 55km/h wind.
