  1. Home of the Zama Zama now isnt it? Same issues here in Magalies... Certain areas here I now longer ride...Thats awesome after 30 years....Just took a year or so for it all to be ruined....

These are the only badges my mom had to sew onto my jackets...
  3. Disagree with this...Most bikes use the same frame and just use different parts as the price increases....
  4. I bought a bike 4 years back with 9 speed parts...Over the years by keeping an eye on the classifieds it was all upgraded except for the wheels ( 9mm QR so not many options). I would do it again. I just dont have the money to pay R30k for something with semi decent parts... If you like your frame and you think you will continue with the sport 3 or 4 years down the road then upgrade... (Or if you have plenty of dosh flog the bike and buy something better!_ (I went 1 x 10...would I do it again...probably not...Its certainly not cost effective in my opinion....It seems you have to replace every chain, chain ring and cassette everytime...9 speed cheaper in my opinion)
  5. Craacking day....What to do when the load shedding starts at 6am... Bike still not broken....????
  6. I stand to be corrected but I think in order to get a money refund (not a warranty claim or a repair) then you need the original packaging? (Lesson learnt here is a similar one I had this week...Had to send my Corsair mouse back for a RMA... Not a problem...got a cheapy R150 mouse about a year ago as a spare that I keep in my laptop bag. Unfortunatley right out of the box it didnt work... I should have checked that it works as soon as I received the spare mouse....)
  7. Lol... Just watch out for ticks ambushing you....????
  8. lol...bitchin' about a tick.... Those things are everywhere....especially this time of year... Maybe Dan should should take up lawn bowls or something...Less danger of ticks....????
  9. Lol...Looks like I was lucky last Friday with there being no-one around... We did thank our lucky sausages that we dont have to ride here on weekends though! It must be bat sht crazy! Not sure which club it is that follows their club riders up Sterkfeontein hospital hill but thats also going to cause an accident one of these days..
  10. Terrible to be killed for something as simple as a bike... A bike that would be sold for just a few Rands... Life is too cheap and the consequences too lenient even if they are caught... What a country...
  11. Its South Africa....???? Where are you safe these days?
  12. What a nice little ride (a welcome change from the rutted and rocky roads I generally travel), if you leave from Greensleeves and do the loop shown on the map you get approx 50km and about 540m elevation according to Stravatjie...Took us 2.5 hrs though....was proper hot at 2pm! Maybe saw another 3 or 4 cyclists...No one on the MTB route though....nice! Anyway, there is good pizza (and other menu options such as burgers etc) and cold beers at Greensleeves so if you want a longer ride and dont fancy drowning in the crowds at Bidon then rather hit Greensleeves (good security too AND a pool too!).
  13. Lol..I was at Cycle Lab a while back to pick up my frame...as we were waiting and drifting around in the shop, we heard a couple on the other side of the row of bikes saying....look. we can take out finance on this bike... My mate who doesnt cycle and has no idea of how much things are just mouthed WTF?????
  14. I assume this is pretty much it?
  15. So I might go and park at Greensleeves on Friday and do some cycling in the COH area. Does someone have a map they can post so I have an idea of whats what route wise or is it pretty simple to follow? Not worried about getting lost on a Friday afternoon (lol) but dont really want to end up on private property or anything! Thanks.
  16. Been a long couple of months without my bike...First ride since getting the frame and putting it all back together...and no parts left!
  17. A big thank you to the staff at Cycle Lab, Fourways and Andrew Mclean, they managed to source a Silverback frame for me and after a few problems with the headset and hanger we finally got sorted out...(and spare hangers!)...Out of what seemed like a million shops I phoned and emailed over the last 3 weeks, they were one of a handful that actually bothered coming back to me with updates...(Thanks to Droo and Dave and others for helping with the headset drama!) It seems (and I experience this every 4 or 5 years!) if you dont have tons of moola to drop on a bike there is very little interest... Even less if you are just looking for a frame...or wince and pay R10k for a bike withg rubbish parts just for the frame... (Almost did this and considered Specialised with a Rockhopper...luckily there was no stock!????)
  18. I was about to buy a frame from Cycle Lab (Stride), now they want to sell me the frame without the RD hanger...(told me last night they dont have the hanger..supposed to go this morning to collect the frame, this has been arranged for a week now and the frame saga is over two weeks ongoing...lol!) They havent been able to get a hanger for two weeks now...Frame not much use to me without the hanger... Can't even get the headset specs right..... I'd give 'Silverback a miss if this is the support level....
  19. Absolutely terrible.... When someone leaves the scene/hit and run, there should be a mandatory 5 years sentence even before anything else... Unfortunately its a land of minimal consequences....
  20. Thanks everyone...
  21. Its getting pretty dark again Magalies way....More rain for this evening...
  22. Thanks, I did ask the guys to try and sort the headset out before I collect the frame, hopefully they can piece it together but experience has also taught me to assume the worst case scenario....????
  23. Would this option fit? Limited tech details on this though: https://www.summitbikes.co.za/index.php?id_product=880&controller=product
  24. Ja, its quite varied on the headset front.... And there seems to be limited options out there as well...
  25. I went to see a friend up from CT the other night...her son proudly came into the house with his new bike...A Momsen.... Luckily the kid weighs about 15kg so the frame should hold....for a while.... Told the lad we cant go riding anymore because MY Momsen broke....????
