  1. Lol..I was at Cycle Lab a while back to pick up my frame...as we were waiting and drifting around in the shop, we heard a couple on the other side of the row of bikes saying....look. we can take out finance on this bike... My mate who doesnt cycle and has no idea of how much things are just mouthed WTF?????
  2. So I might go and park at Greensleeves on Friday and do some cycling in the COH area. Does someone have a map they can post so I have an idea of whats what route wise or is it pretty simple to follow? Not worried about getting lost on a Friday afternoon (lol) but dont really want to end up on private property or anything! Thanks.
  3. Been a long couple of months without my bike...First ride since getting the frame and putting it all back together...and no parts left!
  4. A big thank you to the staff at Cycle Lab, Fourways and Andrew Mclean, they managed to source a Silverback frame for me and after a few problems with the headset and hanger we finally got sorted out...(and spare hangers!)...Out of what seemed like a million shops I phoned and emailed over the last 3 weeks, they were one of a handful that actually bothered coming back to me with updates...(Thanks to Droo and Dave and others for helping with the headset drama!) It seems (and I experience this every 4 or 5 years!) if you dont have tons of moola to drop on a bike there is very little interest... Even less if you are just looking for a frame...or wince and pay R10k for a bike withg rubbish parts just for the frame... (Almost did this and considered Specialised with a Rockhopper...luckily there was no stock!????)
  5. I was about to buy a frame from Cycle Lab (Stride), now they want to sell me the frame without the RD hanger...(told me last night they dont have the hanger..supposed to go this morning to collect the frame, this has been arranged for a week now and the frame saga is over two weeks ongoing...lol!) They havent been able to get a hanger for two weeks now...Frame not much use to me without the hanger... Can't even get the headset specs right..... I'd give 'Silverback a miss if this is the support level....
  6. Absolutely terrible.... When someone leaves the scene/hit and run, there should be a mandatory 5 years sentence even before anything else... Unfortunately its a land of minimal consequences....
  7. Its getting pretty dark again Magalies way....More rain for this evening...
  8. Thanks, I did ask the guys to try and sort the headset out before I collect the frame, hopefully they can piece it together but experience has also taught me to assume the worst case scenario....????
  9. Would this option fit? Limited tech details on this though: https://www.summitbikes.co.za/index.php?id_product=880&controller=product
  10. Ja, its quite varied on the headset front.... And there seems to be limited options out there as well...
  11. I went to see a friend up from CT the other night...her son proudly came into the house with his new bike...A Momsen.... Luckily the kid weighs about 15kg so the frame should hold....for a while.... Told the lad we cant go riding anymore because MY Momsen broke....????
  12. Looks like I have finally found a frame, this is what was sent to me for the hedset specs... Will this headset from Evo fit (I am fitting a straigh steerer fork, I already have the adapter from Evo bikes) https://evobikes.co.za/product/kcnc-headset-pt1860-integrated-1-1-8-upper-1-5-lower-black-is42-28-6-l-is52-40/ Im not sure about the stack height? 13. Ja, the Momsen was not my first warranty claim with a manufacturer for a bike frame or parts but it sure was my worst in relation to the low level of service and general apathy from Momsen/TWT. They have now finally paid me out though. And the quest for a medium 29er frame continues...Seems these days you have to buy a whole bike with crappy parts to strip it down for the frame...???? (and you need some form of telepathy/astral travelling) as bike shops NEVER get back to you with prices, stock etc....
  14. Lol...I was considering buying a Specialised as they have lifetime warranty and transferable warranty....Maybe I will just roll with a Raleigh and hope for the best.......????
  15. Lol...still no payment/refund from Momsen/TWT... Quality 'South African' service levels...????
  16. Lucky its not a Momsen or you would be fkd! Bad luck on the broken leg..years ago I bought I fancy ass CB900 motorbike....few days later a truck turned in front of me and voila, I had a broken leg...and a wrecked bike...My occupation at that stage was cheffing...And what fun that was when I got back to work...We take so much for granted until it doesn work properly anymore! All the best for the healing...Slow and steady...
  17. Juding by the amount of dirt roadies I see through my village and outside the local Wimpy (lol) on a weekend, business must be good!
  18. I did message Momsen on FB half way through this mess...: "Best place to start is the Dealer who you purchased it from. All info is on the Momsen Bikes website too" ???? As it always seems to be...once you have paid... You are on your own.... (if you go through this site there are a good few complaints on Momsen/TWT....history just repeating itself here!)
  19. Lol...the attitude of Momsen/TWT ) is just shocking....I must wait until they get that POS back to PE! Maybe they think I want to keep a broken frame...???? R10 says this AL129 Grey in colour will be floating around the classifieds soon....(if you see one check the seat stay/seat post area!) Wouldnt suprise me in the least if I dont get get paid out... Thanks for the email. The refund request has already been sent through to our accounts department. As soon as the frame arrives in our PE Warehouse the refund will be processed. Update from Kargo National Couriers with regards to collection below. As below, by the time this collection was allocated to the driver yesterday he had already gone past this area so he will collect today. I will let you know when it has been collected
  20. What winds me up the most is messing me around for payment and simple answers from TWT. 2 Weeks now....Thats a South African attitude all right! Momsen lol...
  21. I think the hope was for it to last another 12 months then its totally my problem! The guy who did the repair told me he had worked on aircraft doing welds? ????????
  22. The section between the two white lines is absolutely terrible...! I rode this with a mate a few weeks ago and conversation soon turned to swearing and asking whose idea it was to take this road....???? If you have any loose fillings....good luck!
  23. I did but the inception date was too late. ???? So if you do own a AL129 then make sure you have cover...according to TWT there are no frames so there will be no replacement for you.
