  1. How many people would pay to ride a guided trail in Magaliesburg? That means arriving at a venue, going out for a 2-4 hr ride (depending on rider skill and fitness) and exploring areas that would ordinarily be off limits or unknown to casual day visitor riders. We are also exploring the idea of having weekend cycling packages at venues, that would be accommodation as well as being able to go on a guided ride.
  2. Where are you staying in Magalies?
  3. Mamagalie is a good choice.
  4. I bought a second hand one (but new) and a few months later discovered the saddle had cracked. I did not bother with local agents, filled in the online form for FIZIK , told them I had bought it second hand, they requested the stamped details under the saddle and 2 weeks later I had a brand new one!
  5. Try to wipe down the fork and shock before every ride, it makes it easier to pick up any problems like oil leaks. I cant comment on the Lefty but I think the basic air canister service on the RP23 is every 40 hrs or something(easy to do if you are handy. Just need a pillow pack of Fox float fluid or similar oil) , services are based on hours over KM's on forks and shocks. The full service is around 200hrs or less depending on your general riding conditions and the state of the unit (and has to go to a repair centre). I tend to do mine a bit earlier (air can service) as I like to find problems before they turn into bigger problems! http://www.ridefox.com/fox_tech_center/owners_manuals/07/eng/rear_shocks/float_rp23.htm http://www.ridefox.com/fox_tech_center/owners_manuals/07/eng/service_intervals.htm#Rear_Shox_Service_Interval
  6. I have noticed you get a little bit of oil on the RP23 after a couple of rides, wipe it down and see how it goes. Has it been serviced lately? If so prehaps too much oil was used on assembly? This is mine after a quick 15km ride to make sure all is ok after its service yesterday.
  7. Was the R190 odd rand for all the bearings? Thats a good price! I was quoted R680 for a set excluding fitting (from a bike shop). That was for a Trance. Was it difficult getting the old bearings out from the frame?
  8. If you have a sales slip I would try my luck. My Shimano shoes have lasted 3 years, I have had to stick the soles back on again but the sole has never craked. They still look in reasonable condition externally.
  9. I went to Dundee High in the 80's , it was a dual medium school back then....the fun was endless....!
  10. Thats because most dont even have licences! I read the other day that they muppets in charge a few years back decided having a drivers licence wasnt a requirement to become a cop!
  11. Posted twice...
  12. This guy was in the tree when I got home yesterday! Luckily he was in the veggy garden side so the dogs couldnt get to him but what a friendly soul! For a while he was happy to sit on my shoulders and enjoy some attention. Hopefully he belongs to someone in the area and is not a stray but we put some food, water and a bed out for him last night and this morning he is gone....
  13. Just too many people but thankfully I live in an area that has a lot of riding to offer without the masses! If I lived in town and my riding was limited I might have a different view.
  14. Unfortunately now we have had frost, this landscape will soon become a burnt black winter scene.....! Best time for path hunting though!
  15. Its not just at races though, over the long weekend we saw a lot of cyclists around town and on our rides we picked up a good number of USN energy bar wrappers, ener-jelly-babies packets (or whatever those things are!) and other 'cyclist' related trash (inner tube and an abandoned puncture repair kit!).
  16. I was under the impression the Cape was laid back and chilled?!
  17. Aligator skin seat and a stingray skin water bottle? No fanks... This has tappet written all over it...
  18. I think Its pretty disgusting of your bike shop to try and casually charge you R500 as a handling fee. But now you know in future not to trust them.
  19. I would not be a happy camper if I had prepared for a R750 service and suddenly its now R1500 odd. A detailed breakdown of the work and parts used should have been included when you picked up the fork and you should have been consulted before they went ahead with the work.
  20. Good for you, too many people getting away with far too much these days. I hope Charles gets some justice.
  21. I think its Coolheat although you may have to get the LBS where you got the wheels from to do the claim?
  22. Are the wheels new? I would push for a warrantly claim, it looks like various XT units seem to have a problems. http://forums.mtbr.com/wheels-tires/shimano-xt-m775-wheelset-freehub-fails-465660-4.html
  23. What hubs are they? I have been reading that the M775's have an issue with this, I am waiting my turn for this issue... On my M475 hubs I have gone through about 4 or 5 freewheel hubs over the years!
  24. Just remember with a DS you have more bearings to look after and occasionally replace as well as an additional shock that will up your maintenance costs...
