  1. I'll ALWAYS watch the mountain stages, love the pain, the fans, the descents... apart from that I have pretty much lost interest: Sprints: Petacchi, Boonen aren't in the race, McEwen and Hunter are not performing.... only redeeming factor is Cavendish. Mountains: Ricco banned, rasmussen banned, contador, basso banned.. Valverde very disappointing White Jersey - never interested me in the past Yellow: LA retired, Jan + Basso banned retired, vino, Contador, rusmussen, etc etc etc banned. So quality wise its like watching the Vuelta where most of the stars are missing. Hopefully the Evans/ Schleck/ Sastre dual will liven things up.
  2. Maybe cos the Tyrant in the ad seems a little like Bob McGob, I think the adds are great
  3. That would devastate the CKT Brand... discovering that they were also responsible for producing the latest Bianchis and Colnagos

  5. I think of fit being more like 'fit for purpose' if you sit on your ass watching sport drinking beer all day and that is all you do you will be fit - huge boep that can handle all the alcohol. If you get Cadel Evans to sit on the couch next to this guy and drink with him he WILL die.... fit for purpose if you have a W/kg of 6.0, a resting HR of 35 and are a SAn fun-cyclist you are very fit... but if you are a Tour team leader you will get dropped on any tough mountain climb and lose many minutes... ie you are not fit. So fitness comes in many shapes and forms. (its no co-incidence that both of the above guys are so fit that sometimes they die very young from heart attacks)
  6. Mine was stolen from inside my house. excess you can set - obviously higher the excess the lower the premiums, my R1500 was the excess on the whole burglary, not just the bike. Their premiums do say that the bicycle needs to be out of site while being transported (ie in a boot or under tarpaulin)... but check with them.
  7. My bike was insured with them, it was stolen from my house during a robbery - they paid out the purchase price without any hassle (minus excess of R1500). they paid quickly and assessor was chasing me not vice-versa!
  8. I've been talking Boron here when I meant Beryllium. They are neighbours on the Periodic Table but completely different. Sorry guys. Today I rhyme with boron. Yes Mampara' date=' you're right, Univega did a Beryllium experiment. I don't know if they ever sold more than a dozen of those frames. [/quote'] So the material that is expensive/poisonous is berrylium? Do manufacturers ever use boron for a frame - I've heard of them using small amounts in bottom brackets, but what about whole frames.. or a boron/ carbon composite. I once had a boron tennis racket (50% carbon) about 20 years ago so it cant be too expensive/ exotic.
  9. aerodynamics are a lot more important than weight for guys going fast (40 - 50km/h), even on hilly courses. these guys will also have light weight wheels that are used on mountain climbs, although these days you can easily get a bike that weighs the UCI minimum AND have aerodynamic wheels
  10. " In a first for Campagnolo, ceramic bearings will be fitted as standard equipment throughout Super Record. The usual silicon nitride balls will be paired with extra-hard and corrosion resistant Cronitect martensitic steel races, a combination dubbed Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology (CULT). " wait until Johan Bornagain gets hold of this!
  11. Lonestar and Banji are the same person, they are wanted by interpol and hide in African countries under the guise of 'roadbuilders' while scamming people out of money using 419 schemes. They also share a Tandem !
  12. dont believe it helps at all, but I am not a sprinter! Endurance seems to be my problem and how hard i can push for a few seconds is meaningless. That being said I do a few leg raises on the 'circuit'
  13. Vino, Basso, Landis, Contador... who is left, maybe Evans?
  14. In these times this should be 'how many bikes are you trying to sell'
  15. Bellevue kriek, my favourite
  16. belgians other great achievements: Tintin, chips, waffles... and again BEER!!
  17. Dr S., Surely coke is a great stimulant?? like 'speed', ephedrine etc etc seems obvious that this will benefit a cyclist, especially a sprinter?? I rememember when Jan was first bust for 'recreational' drugs and I thought hey, not so bad, he's only human, non- performance enhancing, he just likes to party too much... Now I'm not so naive
  18. In the current climate he probably owes a lot of people money that have priority on his list... why do people give strangers goods without receiving cash in hand I dont know
  19. crankset is going the FSA route (looks wise) what happened to all the carbon? prefered the old DA
  20. still is, although he was probably a whopping 900g heavier then, note to self: change avatar
