  1. So true!
  2. Thanks Wolfie. Just a thought, why don't we start collecting toll fees from cyclists that use these Cycle Safe Routes and use the funds to purchase more signs?
  3. Hi Guys, Just returned froma short visit to Sun City. Have the sign placement been finalised?
  4. Thanks Wolfie and to those who continue to support this initiative. Just remember, 'We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give" words by Wolverine.
  5. I am meeting with the Road Traffic Engineer from Gauteng on the 11 October to survey the route/roads. We only have 8 signs as a start and as mentioned, this is an ongoing project and need to finalise the complete route. Once the placement of signs have been agreed upon, we can erect the 8 signs and campaign for more funds to purchase & erect the remainder of the signs. The suggestion of sign placement is as follows. After each intersection where traffic enters the route and every 2 km. The Lido route is 48km long and we have erected over 65 signs thus far and still require about 20 more. BigH, as Wolfie mentioned, we can not cover all areas at the same time. We need to start 'somewhere' and will cover 'all' areas and provinces, it just depends on funds received. HR, I have registered Sign-Up, but with the new Banking Laws & Credit Act, my application for a bank account is still pending. For now I suggest we look at placing these 8 signs on the most dangerous section of the above mentioned roads.
  6. So they can tell the 'skelms' to wait for you with AK47 and take it from you Seriously, this makes the race stats look good with total value of bicycles, no. of entries etc..

  14. And just imagine R5 per entry gets donated towards the purchasing of W309 Cycle Safety signs!! The country will be a much safer place for all the Cyclists!!!

  16. So what time do we meet at the Circus or are we meerting at the Kareekloof gate?
  17. I will never do that to you or anybody for that matter.
  18. Sad to hear!! Great that your friend is OK!! Traffic Cycles are a problem in South Africa as motorists do not adhere to the rules of such circles. This is the rule at a circle (not those speed calming circles commonly found out North).Vehicles must yield to the right at all times. Simple yet not being done. If you are the only car on your side (road) at the circle and a 100 cars entering/approaching from your right, they have right of way and you just have to wait, unless someone lets you in.
  19. This really gets my blood boiling as this section of the road has been sign-posted and has a huge yellow lane. What are these guys doing? I really hope this cyclist is OK and wish him a speedy recovery!!!
