    Attakwas 2021

Haha I did some calcs…I will leave the mudfest riding for the pros… Wrecking a new XX1 drivetrain will end up costing around R75 per km (just drivetrain, no suspension seals, pivot bearings or BB)…Too much for my wallet!

    Attakwas 2021

    Still raining in George...
  4. Yes, ordered from them. Great service, with a nice personal touch to the delivery. Busy dialing in the grind, but it seems promising so far!
  5. Also bought some Delonghi double walled cappuccino glasses. Really makes a difference in terms of your drink staying hotter for longer.
  6. Awaiting delivery of some Mikro breweries coffee beans to my village. Read some great reviews so far. Any hubbers have some feedback on them?
  7. On the Lazer Blade MIPS... Great helmet for the price, but I am yet to find the correct holes to fit my sunglasses in the helmet. Annoying.
  8. Very happy with my barista express as well. Bought a demo model for R5k last year. Best money ever spent. Machine is consistent, but bean age/quality makes a huge difference in extraction times. Fresh beans for the win! Those 1kg woolies beans are to be avoided…
  9. Yip, definitely. Bought the bike second hand, the chain should have been replaced much earlier to save the cassette.
  10. An update from my side. My gx eagle cassette is now on 5800km. Second gx eagle chain on 2700km now. This will be the last chain for this cassette as the new chain already slipped for about 300km. So I will ride this cassette and chain to their death before replacing with XX1 Interesting that with the second GX chain, I have only used Smoove chain cleaner and lube. The 0.5 wear indicator is not yet going in, so it seems that Smoove has given me some extra km on this chain. I tried a few different lubes on the first chain, and it was past 0.75 at 2500 km. Tried squirt and wend wax (wend wax the absolute worst wrt chain wear) on the first chain. Same riding conditions.

    Attakwas 2021

Tomorrow is the last day to transfer entries to 2022. Seems however that the august event is going ahead.
  12. Hi. Please clarify your question? Are you looking for a battery? The CR2032 batteries are available at almost all supermarkets/Dischem. Open the HR sensor with a coin and simply replace the battery.
  13. Thanks! I managed to find a few reviews online. Reviews are not looking good.
  14. Thread revive…Any indication on the mileage possible on the cassette compared to sram cassettes?
  15. Interestingly my GX eagle cassette started to slip with the second chain (around 2300km and 0.5 wear). Only slipped for about 200km and then worked well. But as you said, I will have to replace chain and cassette now. Back to your question. I would ride that cassette if it is not slipping with the new chain. Another option is to install a larger front chainring to use more of the larger cogs on the cassette.
  16. From my experience the most wear occurs on the bottom cogs. Best way to gauge the wear (I might be wrong) is to fit a new chain and see if the chain slips under force. If it slips with a new chain it is quite worn already.

So is the probability higher or lower for a wet atta in august, compared to January? my budget does not allow mtb races in the mud????

    Attakwas 2021

Dual suss all the way. It is possible on a hard tail, but that attakwas kloof will make you long for the dual suss... Ensure you have put in enough training (especially climbing), it really is a tough event. Save yourself for the last 60km. Nutrition is key, ensure you eat and drink enough during the race. It is an awesome event.
  19. Thanks for the clarity Joggie????????
  20. Apologies. Wow, was not aware. Then the 2022 is a bargain????
  21. Thanks, I hear you. I understand the trickle down technology. Nope I have the aluminium anthem. Like diesel mentioned, great options in the middle class price range, especially 2nd hand. And one can still be competitive with them. No way that I can/will spend R100k+ on a mountain bike. Also agree that if money was not an option, the 2022 spark would not be top of my list. Looks too much like an e-bike to me... Anyway, there definitely is a market for these bikes. May the owners enjoy them!
