  1. So is the Maluti still happening?
  2. Does anyone have feedback on the mileage possible with the sunrace 12 speed cassette for xd drivers?
  3. Thanks, I have moved back to smoove and regular chain cleaning.
  4. That is not bad!
  5. What chain lube do you use? I tried wend wax for about 500km on my new gx eagle chain. Already approaching the 0.5 wear mark, so not impressed at all! GX eagle Cassette also done after 3200km. I am going to ride this chain and cassette moertoe and then put xx1 on.
  6. We are using NZ Shores. Cheaper than most and we have had good service so far (busy job hunting). Looking at about R55k agent fees to residency status for a family of 4. Way cheaper than our first consultation with immigration migration, which would have been over R100k agent fees
  7. Stark wheels for the win. I have the 50mm versions and they are super stiff and roll forever. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bike-wheels/6453/new-stark-carbon-clinchers
  8. Great news Cois! Keep on fighting! ????????????????
  9. Where can we see the results?
  10. Wow. That is a lot of chains!
  11. True story. Xx1 chain and cassette definitely my next purchase.
  12. I read there were some issues with the elites race being stopped twice. Riders taking wrong turns and missing Tom Jenkins????
  13. Ouch. Thats crazy!
  14. Thanks. I doubt that a gx eagle chain will then give more than 1500km. Definitely makes sense then to rather buy xx1 chains I will definitely be spending more time on my road bike. Mtb parts wear is ridiculous.
  15. I am seriously thinking about buying a xx1 cassette and chain. My first gx chain had .75 wear after 1700km, also tried to keep it clean at all times. The gx eagle cassette is looking pretty tired after 3000km. I would love to get 10k km on a xx1 cassette. Is this possible?
  16. Thanks, I will try this.
  17. I recently replaced my gx eagle chain. I suspect my gx eagle cassette has around 3000km on. I noticed after fitting the new chain that one or 2 of the smaller gears now tend to “slip” under hard loads. Time to replace the casette?
  18. Agreed. I also prefer the climb in the beginning of the race. Smaller groups are safer on the narrow roads. Our only traffic jam was after we turned left towards magalies park (after crossing the dam). There were cars stuck behind the ladies bunch, so we had to weave past the cars and oncoming traffic to pass the ladies.
  19. Well done! I forgot how much harder it is in a break! I must say, my legs were shattered when I had to get going after fixing my flat after 85km in the break. So that is 3 hubbers so far in the AL break????????????. Again well done Timo!
  20. Thanks. Well done, super effort!
  21. As shaper said, heading towards the r24 the roadworks started
  22. Agreed. Marshalls were great, especially at the road works sections. Communications were good before the race. I am just a bit sour due to my puncture. ???? I still enjoyed the sufferfest????
  23. Hard day out in AL break. Punctured at one of the roadworks sections and had to solo home. Road surface was terrible. Traffic on route was terrible. Less participants than previous years from my perspective. Kudos to the guy in the AL break on his momsen mtb with nobblies. 39k/h average on that thing. I was stumped. He should win the event on a road bike.
  24. Ill be there tomorrow????????
  25. Great to hear about the weather, sounds good???? How is the nz cycling scene with regards to races and clubs? Are there many local races with active clubs? Road and mtb riding?
