  2. Just looks like some customised Treks to me. Must be like the AMG conversion for a Trek Zaskar2008-03-13 08:33:05
  3. I have a pair of these on my bike, and i must say thay are very very comfortable. Being made from plastic, they are very robust, and also nice and light. An interesting thing with them is that you can flip them over, and have to long side facing down, which gives you a few more options regarding hand position. Also the main reason i got them was because being plastic, they dont damage my Easton EC70 carbon bars when tightening them.
  4. This is my favorite entry... Where I come from, no drama, but I e-mailed the link to a mate of mine in the south- States and this is what he sent me: " This ain?t right- it just ain?t. First off, these cyclers, bicyclers- what ever these fellers call themselves, they ain?t quite right anyway. They?re known leg-shavers and tight-pants wearers. He?s a gay-man for sure, queer as a three dollar bill. Prolly a commy too. Take this Tom feller in this picture you sent me on the inter-net. Now he?s takin? up with a young-un. That right there ain?t right. No way. Now you gotta think like this Tom feller. He?s a white- man, so he oughta be able to handle himself. But he gets all hopped up on goat weed and steer-oids these cyclers take in the Tour of France, and even old Tom can?t help himself- you know what I mean? It?s the little head thinkin for the big head. He can?t hardly help himself. These Bell-juns, not sure what part of Africa that is, but they git all hopped up on these drugs and they get carried away. Start chasin? around the young-uns? Now this little filly of a thing he?s chasin? after, she ain?t bein? looked after right either. This young?un is runnin? around in her fancy pants, half neeked all hangin? out. She so darn young she ain?t hardly baby-havin age yet, you know what I mean? She ain;t yet in a womanly way. You see the way the old bittys, the old gals on that there Inter-net forum circle around this young-un and come to her dee-fence. They?re ?bout the only God-fearin? types on that there forum. Once them lady-folk git past child-bearin? age and lose their pretty they gots to look after them young-uns, lest one of these queers like this Tom feller com along and scoop up fer Lord knows what type of pro-creatin. Devil?s work. If that young-un were mine, why I be darn sure to take her over my knee fer such behavin?, and you be damn sure I had her in skirts to her ankles on Sunday mornin? kneeling before Lord God Jesus Christ askin? forgivness for her sin-ly thinking. This is the kind thing you see on the inter-net, old man takin? up with young-uns, Coloreds takin up with white women. Everything. Poor-nowgraffy. Only people right here are the lady-folk trying to protect this little filly till she?s proper child-bearin? age. Them lady folk, ?specially the young-uns, they?re weak and feeble minded and need to be looked after and protected. You know, they can?t be thinkin? fer themselves. Sooner or later, she?ll find herself in a disgraceful, motherly way outta wedlock. You know ya?all can?t be trustin? in a young-in, specially a little filly to be thinkin? all on their own."
  5. Well done Cherise!!
  6. WHAT!!! are they made from platinum' date=' oil or electricity? It just hold the pads in place. Not even BMW *spit* break pads costs that much. [/quote'] You have never tried to shorten a Campy chain then have you? R220 for the little joining link....
  7. just saw this on Cyclingnews when i was searching for the Bonty pads... Swiss Stop pads http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2007/tech/newarrivals/04-19/P1130130tn.jpg Swiss Stop claims its Yellow King compound is the ultimate solution for carbon rims, offering superior dry and wet weather performance coupled with excellent modulation and good longevity. Moreover, those of you who train on aluminium rims and race on carbon will be happy to hear that Swiss Stop says the Yellow Kings work great on aluminum rims, too. In total, Swiss Stop actually offers five different road pad compounds for a variety of configurations: all-weather for aluminum rims (Green High Performance); all-weather specifically for softer aluminum rims (Power Black); ceramic-rimmed wheelsets (Blue Sky), and even general replacement pads (Grey Economy). Road pads are also offered in multiple fitments, including Campy 9-speed (Race), Campy 10-speed/Zero Gravity (Race 2000), SRAM/Shimano road (Flash), linear pull brake (Rx), and both smooth post and threaded post cantilever (Rat and Viking, respectively). Price: US$25.20 (Flash GHP, set of four); US$41.60 (Flash Yellow King, set of four); US$35.30 (Race2000 GHP, set of four); US$62.40 (Race2000 Yellow King, set of four).
  8. Maybe adjust the toe-in on your pads. Mine were making that screech, but I fiddled with this and it fixed it. Just make sure that the front end of the pads touched first, and then as you apply more pressure the rest of the pad makes contact.
  9. Yip i must say this thing is looking very good! Im now so glad that i spent the extra cash and got the SI crankset, as all the Campy and Shimano sets will not be compatible! So at $1200 for the meter, and about R5000 for the GPS, you can have a complete power system for less than the price of a powertap 2.4 wireless wheelset. And the best bit is ityou can use ANY wheelset!
  10. So you are saying that the carbon specific pads are damaging your Alu rims? I would have thought it would be the other way round, with the harder alu rims destroying the softer cork and carbon specific pads? I bought a pair of Campy Bora specific pads on sat (havnt used them yet) but i muat say they look just as hard as the normal alu pads. i thought the only difference is just that they dont have the abrasive properties that the alu pads had, to keep the Bora carbon rims safe. but you are saying that they are killing your alu rims? thats weird. yeah i would also like to know if there is any answer to this, because it kills me swapping pads every few days, esp with those zero gravity brake shoes!
  11. Looking at the reviews on mtbr, the Thomson looks like the way to go! Elite post - 374 reviews with an average rating of 96% Master Post - 9 reviews with everyone giving it 100% My Easton scored pretty poorly in comparison - 74 reviews = 46%
  12. about 75kg
  13. Check out the Easton EA70. Ive had one for about 3 years and swap it between hardtail MTB and my road bikes. Its plenty strong!

  15. Thanks, it appears that this is why the second pedal failed this morning! Hazard: The pedal's bearing cap can fail causing the pedal to come off the bicycle. This poses a fall hazard for riders.Zaskar2008-02-20 08:14:35
  16. Thanks, but i did take that into account. The RXS carbons of mine were manufactured after the recall, and have the little gold dot (visible in the second pic, in the indent above where the word "France" is written on the axle) meaning they are safe from the failure that generated the recall. On a positive note regarding those pedals, the rep from J&J contacted me earlier, and ill have them back tomorrow when he does his rounds in JHB.
  17. What is up with Time pedals?? Ive been riding them for over a year now, and then all of a sudden two pairs of mine break in less than 2 weeks! First this pair of 9 month old RXS Carbons... And then today on my morning ride this pair of older RXS pedals! Riding up William Nicol at 5:10 this morning, the pedal decided to seperate itself from the axle! Thank goodness it was a slight uphill and i was seated, because if it was a sprint i would have gone over the handlebars!! J&J Cycling are pretty good in dealing with problems, the top pair are currently in for warrantee replacment or repair, and they are great with customer service. But im a bit worried now about these pedals! Both cases the results of the failure could have caused me some serious harm it it my foot had come out in a sprint. And bewteen amateur and I, i think we have 5 pairs!! Maybe its time (excuse the pun) to look at something else? (and maybe i should post this on that Speedplay thread and he will feel sorry for me and give me the set??) Anyone else had a similar experience with these?
  18. got this off another web forum... http://roguemechanic.typepad.com/roguemechanic/2005/11/shimano_r700_cr.html Posted by: uber | November 23, 2005 at 08:39 AM can you use the r700 with ultegra 9 or does it have to be 10? Posted by: ts | January 18, 2006 at 11:12 PM Hello ts, Officially, Shimano says that it's only compatible with a 10 speed chain. That's not completely true. It will work just fine with 9 speed....I'd recommend a Shimano 9 speed chain in this case because it's more narrow than a SRAM and would be less likely to rub the outter ring when in the 34x12. I hope that this info helps. Thanks for writing! -John
  19. ha ha, the Chorus cranks are Amateurs, off her bike. I just posted them the other day cause i took the pics and was logged on at the time. But regarding the compact question, i would go for the Shimano R-700 compact set. They are not assigned to a specific groupset, as they will work with Dura-ace Ultegra and 105, but as far as i know they are Ultegra quality. Im not 100% sure if they would work with your 9sp set-up, check with the guys from CoolHeat first. But if they do you will need to replace your BB with the newer external bearing BB cups and possibly your front derailleur as well? It might pay you to look at a second hand 10speed groupset, i remember seeing a 105 set here a few days ago. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  20. Im really sorry to hear that Simon, my condolences to you and to all her family and friends.
  21. RIP Buccaneer My condolences to your family and all at Think Bike
  22. Got these babies yesterday... Interestingly this bike has been built up mosly from parts sourced here on the hub. MWNN's old frame, 101% groupset and Zero Gravities, EdoardoBianchi's saddle... All the parts I got were in immaculate condition, and this bike has probably cost me less that half the recommonded retail price! 6.9kg as is!!
  23. Wow, Congrats Craig!! Wish you and your family all the best, and may she bring you all the joy in the world!
  24. Wernt three of those wins on a Bianchi?
  25. I bought Mud dees old Campag wheels 2 weeks back, and i have no problem riding them on my 2 bikes. The wheels have a Campag Veloce cassette and my one bike is all Chorus and the other is all 105. No problems what so ever.
