  1. Jules / Epoh, you guys need to get hold of the Serfas carbon cages. I had the same problem on my old alu Scott, and then found these cages which have two lips for holding the weight of the bottle. I have also never lost a single bottle either from these cages, (unlike my old Elite carbon cages) as they hold the bottles very securely. I even use them on my mountain bike, and after many races inc. Sani2C i have yet to loose a bottle. And the best bit is that they weigh next to nothing, around 15grams each if I remember correclty. Picked them up for R199 a piece at Solomans. (I also use small washers between the frame and the cage, which you can see in the pic, to stop the cages from scuffing the carbon downtube when carrying full bottles)
  2. Or just PM Matchstix here on the hub. He works for Globacycles and I got my frame through him
  3. There is no more local agent, as far as i know. But contact the guys at Globa Cycles, they were previoulsy the agents, and got me my new Vertex frame 2 months ago. www.globacycles.com 027-44-874 7614, Zaskar2010-01-25 03:09:20
  4. I bought a Suunto heart rate monitor from the Eastgate Due South branch last weekend, and the price once it was rung up was R349 less than they had advertised on thier website. Even on the box the old price had been crossed out and the new cheaper price had been stuck over it. When i asked why this was, they said it was new stock that came in at a better price! So you win some you loose some i suppose.
  5. Ahh, but that bike is second hand. It has hardly been ridden, but it's still not new!
  6. In last years race I used a Kenda Kharma 2.0 on the front and a Conti Mountain King 2.2 on tha back. Worked perfectly for me
  7. My large 2008 Team carbon frame weighs in at around 1560g, but thats with the bottle cage bolts and the seat clamp etc all fitted.
  8. Speak to the guy from "The Tool Shop" in Strijdom Park. I got my Norbar wrench from him, and he said i should bring it in every year to have it tested and re-calibrated free of charge. The wrench uses a spring to set the resistance, and as far as i know if used a lot it needs to be checked and possibly re-set. Also I was told to never undo anything with the wrench, only to use it for tightening bolts etc. Loosening whatever can cause it to need calibration more frequently.
  9. This is still my favourite road saddle, and is currently fitted to my race bike. Ive done 8hr+ rides on it, and as long as I have decent shorts, I dont feel any worse off than when I do a long ride on one of my Arione's or Flights. Zaskar2010-01-14 06:26:40
  10. Get well soon Ian
  11. I did a race a few weeks ago organised by ROAG, and at the registration we got our own timing chips and number boards for life. Best part was that it didnt cost us a cent

  17. Zero Gravity brakes will save you quite a few grams, mine complete with pads weighs in at 177g. Zaskar2009-12-29 01:41:56
  18. Definitely. The difference in vibration that I can feel between my Thompson Elite and my Easton EC90 seatposts is significant.
  19. If it was me, i would be putting a full carbon post into an alu / Scandium frame, and an alu / Scandium post into a full carbon frame. Ive got both, and believe me you can feel a significant difference in the vibrations with you swap between a full carbon post and an alu post in an alu / Scandium frame.

  25. Thug, i got some new Cane Creek bearings from Alex a few weeks ago. Think they were R50 a bearing, and they came in "Giant" branded packaging. They fit my Carbon Zaskar, and are the exact same size bearings (1-1/8" 36x45) as in the KCNC Omega S1 headset I bought a while ago while building a bike for a friend. Give Alex a call...
