  1. I was shocked the other day when I ordered a part for my Thule rack from CWC. When I picked it up, they gave it to me for free. Said Thule didn't charge them for it so they weren't charging me They could have still charged me and I wouldn't have know any different. Its not even my local LBS. I was very impressed and will support them in the future. Now here you have a shop selling products that are supposed to be free???! Why would a shop buy stuff that legally they are not allowed to sell? Bit stupid if that is the case.
  2. Specialized Ladies MTB Shoes: 4 years old (now too small, but still good even after loads of mud baths) Specialized Labies Pro MTB Shoes: 1 week old, they are SO pretty. Still don't have cleats for them though :-( Specialized Road Shoes: 4 years old (now only used on indoor trainer and Argus/Burger races) I have no problem spending money on shoes that last me a long time and are really comfortable.
  3. I love my Park Tool lube, works well in mud and dry. Got it with a crc order, now need to find some in SA. Much better than Squirt IMO.
  4. I'm still trying to figure out how shoes that fitted me 2 1/2 years ago, no longer fit me. They still have plenty live in them, but are causing lots of bruising under my big toe nail. I've just a size up of ladies mtb shoes. They are too big, but better than too small. Don't you wish for something so important and expensive as cycling shoes that they would make 1/2 sizes??? I know how a size 38 road shoe and 39 mtb shoe.
  5. Since when does a woman listen to their husband?
  6. On their website it now says that all automatic spots for 2011 Adventure and Race have been filled which means that no one on the waiting list even got a chance so it is now confirmed, Sani is a closed shop :-( the nasty part of me hopes that 2011 is a disaster so that no one wants to ride again in 2012 and then hopefully some of us on the waiting list get a chance.
  7. Cool pics! I've got a collection at home of X-rays - face, hand, collarbone, foot but nothing with plates / screws luckily. Hope you heal fast! Indoor trainer is your friend.
  8. non-stop not happening according to their website. I also read somewhere on their site that only 550 entries were available online yesterday. Not sure what they are doing with the other 100 though.
  9. When I put my name on the waiting list a few months back, my reference was Wait - A1657 Hope it doesn't mean I'm 1657 on the list.
  10. Come on guys, do the Joberg 2 C instead. You have already done Sani, surely you want a bigger and better challenge?????? *Silently prays that the entries don't all get taken before the waiting list guys get a chance*. hmm...maybe I should go hack the website and make sure it takes people at least another 2 hours, I'm sure a few more would have given up by then.
  11. I have no issues motivating myself to ride my mtb as long as its somewhere with some fun singletrack or with good friends. Sometimes I find it hard to motivate myself to go ride jeep track and even harder to ride on the road, but I think thats just because I know it would be so much more fun to hit the singletrack. A month off = I go insane.

    Energade

I've tried quite a few, but cause I suffer with sinus / allergies, I find that most of them give me a post nasel drip which then makes me feel sick. I won a natural flavoured energy drink (i.e not colourants) and it worked well for me, but is very hard to find. I now use Cytomax and am LOVING it. Get a boost and it doesn't affect the sinuses. I don't train with it though only use it for races so I just buy the sachets. Costs me R15 for a 750ml bottle, but at least I get to choose the flavour I feel like on the day. I get really bored drinking the same flavour each time. Also use the cytomax gels and find them much easier to swallow than things like Gu's.
  13. Aren't the entries that open in August only available to riders who have done it before? Everyone else wanting to try it for the first time goes on the waiting list? I'm already on the waiting list, did the entry about 2 months ago.
  14. I know where it is, just don't know what its called. Beautiful pics though!
  15. That is Noordhoek beach in the background of the first shot. Top of Silvermine?
  16. I had a problem before where I got threatening letters saying I must pay for the photos for an event as I hadn't returned them. Got quite nasty. I would have happily either taken the photos and paid for them, or sent them back if in fact I had actually received them in the first place. Can't really trust the post office. I much prefer the online ordering. I've ordered digital images and a cd and both times had no problems and got my pics.
  17. Ronelle I sent you a PM. Hoping you managed to get some pics of me.
  18. If you haven't ridden it before, you can already put your name on the waiting list to get an entry. Entries for all the guys and girls with first option open in August. Now I just need to find a way to break the website in Aug so no one can enter *evil laugh*.
  19. I'm doing the long route at Knysna in a months time. Based on that, I will judge my goal for Karoo to Coast. I do know however that it takes guys like Kev Evans +- 21 minutes longer to do Karoo to Coast than Knysna even though it is 20km's + extra. This means although there are tough climbs, overall it is an easier route than Knysna. I'm also just aiming to finish so will take both these races at a nice easy pace. The longest I've been on a mtb before is 60km's so its going to be a nice test of my endurance (note, not fitness as I know my fitness is lacking). I'm really excited for both Knysna and Karoo 2 Coast !!!
  20. What got me hooked into mtbing, was a race I did where the long route guys were flying past us. I was a newbie and very nervous on a technical section and even got off to walk the one corner and then I watched how the other guys went down it and the fun they were having. I'm now the one that flies down. It was a challenge and a goal for me to be able to go that. I think if the races had all mostly been jeep track, I wouldn't still be cycling. As others have said, choose your races. Normally the descriptions are fairly accurate. There is so much variety out there.
  21. In the western cape, we now have so many routes close to home to go practice our skills on so no excuses about not getting to ride off road. I will only do a race if it is technical, unless its something like Karoo to Coast which u do for the awesome scenary etc.
  22. STORMERS !!! They deserve it, best defensive team in the Super 14 this season, plus they have been fantastic on the attack. Just look at their points difference.
  23. 2 loops at Koeberg isn't hard.
  24. BMC, try the Tygerberg mtb website www.tygerbergmtb.co.za, or alternatively there is also a facebook group. Really worth joining the club. I've almost save all my membership fees by not having to pay to ride Hillcrest and we aren't even half way through the year and I only ride max twice per week. Ratty2010-05-21 02:49:56
  25. I'm still waiting for them to tell me why more than half my races don't show on their website when I query my seeding index. Races that were previously used in my seeding. Sent them an email on the 15th April with a spreadsheet attached highlighting all the races that are on the racetec website vs all the races on the PPA website. Below is the original response. I replied saying that the problem is NOT racetec as all my results show there, but in fact PPA. Haven't heard from them since, and I was so polite (seriously). According to Racetec there is nothing wrong with the results which was produced for today?s seeding.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Please contact the RaceTec offices so that they can perhaps give you clarity. Two of the races where not used for seeding: The Malmesbury Rotary Funride & the Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB.
