  1. I must be bored... Sitting at work with my HR strap and Edge705 on measured RHR of 44.
  2. Last year Karoo to Coast down Simola hill 80Km/h - Garmin 705 GPS. (After 6 hrs, too tired to be scared)
  3. Some of us "Arm Blankes", like me can't afford disc brake upgrades such as Sram Avid XX , and have to make do with what we have. My entry level hayes stroker ryde rotors after doing 8000km now need to be replaced. With a tight budget the Alligator 160mm Rotors look like an option, but which one? - both are cheap (R150 each @ CWC) What are you views?
  4. I've been cycling for just over 2 years and relatively fit (+-200Km week)normally finishing in the front half of the field during races. A couple of months ago I decided to have a quick run around the block, you know the army days 2.4km that we used to do between 10-12 minutes? well I could hardly walk the next couple of days I was so stiff! I could not believe that you could do a 100Km MTB on a Saturday morning and then have people over in the afternoon for a braai and think nothing of it, but yet go for a 2.4Km run and be broken for 2 days, Huh! I now try and run about 3 times a week, and I certainly agree that it has increased my overall fitness. It also gives me serious appreciation for my bike!
  5. Have a look at the following links and please give these people your support! They are riding 2500Km from Swaziland to Cape Town. Three Crazy Dudes from Swaziland, Wayne, James and Carlos along with two fantastic Kims and a Quality Driver called, well, Quality are on an epic Adventure to Cape Town. The three Crazy Dudes are cycling EBI (Every Bloody Inch) from Manzini to Cape Town to raise funds to bring Bicycles into rural areas of Swaziland. See their website here http://www.swazilandcycling.com and "like" them on FB here http://www.facebook.com/21daystocapetown?sk=wall
  6. The thought has also been in my mind for some time. Are you thinking of the R62? Late Spring/ Early Summer good time of year with North Easterly's blowing.
  7. We also sometimes see these puffadders in the Baviaans. - this pic was taken in Sept last year.
  8. Some things to add: GPS 1st aid kit Fishing hooks, line & sinkers Tent & sleeping bag Mosquito repellent Small axe for firewood Handheld flares

  10. Just came back, what an amazing place to ride, Hogsback puts the "mountain" back into "mountain biking"! To those of you doing The Lord Of The Chain Rings later this year, it is going to be an incredible event!
  11. I am fortunate enough to find ourselves going to Hogsback this weekend! Been there a few times, but this is my first time since I started MTBing 2 years ago. How are the locals towards MTBers using hiking routes, and does anyone have any suggestions on "must do" rides in the area?
  12. I have ordinary tubed tyes (Maxxis Ardents) that I run with liners & the proper http://www.slime.com . My wheels might be a little heavier than the rest, but it is bullet proof! Won't find me without slime in the dirt.

  16. I believe they have changed the name of that new republic to THE ISLE OF ST FRANCIS.
  17. JB - Here is the recently launched official Kouga MTB racing gear
  18. Unreal, considering the Raleigh brand originated back in 1887 in England. I wonder if the the "cheap & nasty" Makro/Game bikes did the brand harm in SA?
  19. AB, just asked to join!
  20. Chris, Pieter & Eccentric - Well Done! Keep it up! Ps How is the rest of our fellow recent Quitters doing?
  21. I just have to give my wife an I both a pat on the back as today it has been exactly 2 Years to the day since we gave up smoking  . LIFE IS GREAT
  22. That is almost incomprehensible! Big word for dutchman like me, but those are seriously big climbs. Even makes the Transbaviaans M.A.C. look like a speed bump!
  23. See http://stomachofanger.com/
  24. Three letters Bongs: CPA Surely you can't be charged for a service you have not recieved! There is no "losses" on the cancelled entry as they have a waiting list, so I don't see on what grounds they can charge you R1600!
