  1. Conti did a wicked TT. Lance did get smoked. I cant help but have a very uncomfortable feeling after Conti's TT, a bit like I felt after a certain Floyd Landis blew the tour apart.
  2. Well said Owen, some people just need to find another outlet
  3. Sweet looking ride, must be like a rocket, enjoy it.
  4. I love the ad, Now when I ride along the ocean I stand up, look to the horizon, point into the distance, zip my shirt open, take off my helmet, flick my hair, slap my butt and spray some designer sweat onto my brow. Then I slowly and seductivly look into the eyes of my training buddies and sprint off into the sunset. Because I am worth it!
  5. Just move the sensor closer to the axle and you won't have a problem
  6. I like to have my number plate obscured so that I can jump red traffic lights. Actualy I got pulled over about 5 years ago, recieved a warning and got a plate for the rack. The only real way to go is to get a rack with lights and a place for a plate otherwise your lights are also obscured. I agree that it is damn irritating that the cops target petty offences and soft targets and let the taxi's and other unroadworthy vehicles get away with murder, but its probably so that the cops can get reach their targets and bank the fines without hassles.
  7. I must be watching the wrong tour, we have had some awesome finishes over the last few days, any cyclist who didnt find yesterdays finish exiting must have spent too much time on his stationary bike. There have been some great break aways and some excellent riding from the non GC riders. The route has been designed for a big show down in the Alps and to keep the race close enough for it to be decided on Ventoux. So this makes for a boring 2 1/2 weeks in the CG competition, but the Tour is not only the GC, the King of the Mountains comp has been interesting, Cav has been dethroned from the Green and will be firing to get it back. look at Jen's ride yesterday, Voeckler's win a few days ago, I am loving the tour.
  8. Icycling, I do feel for you, the economic downturn is hitting everyone. But bear this in mind, when I dont spend money in your shop and prefer to spend on CRC to save ME some cash, that cash is then available to ME to put into those things that you mentioned, like eating out, servicing the car etc... so the money is still going into the economy, its just that I receive the benefit and not you. There is one way for an industry to survive a recession, work harder & work leaner.
  9. How did you calculate your max HR, Polar does the simple 220 - age equasion which is often quite far out. I used to just put my age into the HRM and let it do the calculation, but I went for some proper testing and found that my max HR was 5 bpm higher than the Polar calculated. So I was reaching my "max" with some more gas in the tank.
  10. I wouldn't worry. The study was performed on triathletes, not proper cyclists, the way those guys dress I am not surprised that they guys rebel.
  11. Looks cool, probably flares deployed by the jets to avoid missiles rather than missiles
  12. MDK55 I hope you didn't use your cell phone to take that picture while driving, thats also illegal.
  13. I only wear full finger gloves in extreme cold, in Cape Town that is only about twice a year. I have never taken the skin off my fingertips, are you guys spending too much time on tar? how do you skin your fingers on a MTB? I find full gloves are either too bulky and uncomfortable or not warm or waterproof enough
  14. Spez BG, go for the best model you can afford, super comfortable and pretty stiff.
  15. It was a good game, and at least we have salvage some pride from a win, Spain up next will be a different story I feel. What happens if we draw, do we go through to the quarters?
  16. Sorry Marius, no matter what medical aid plan you are on, you will always be out of pocket. The hospital plans, will only pay for your stay not for the doctors bills
  17. Thats sweet, and incredibly well maintained, we can only hope and dream that some private land owner, perhaps of a large estate in Somerset West would allow something like that to be built.
  18. 1. The hub is not pick and pay. Lets not even go there. 2. why is it that its ok for people to feel that they can offer a lower price, but if a seller also wants to renegotiate its a problem? 3. Its only a legally binding contract when there is agreement between willing buyer and seller. 4. if you get huge demand for an item and realize that you have under priced something, you have the right as a seller to withdraw the item and readvertise, or ask for new offers.
  19. I know a great physio but he is is Tokai, I would trust my life to this guy he is that good. PM me if you want his details.
  20. Supply and demand buddy, its called capitalism. Why should the hub be any different from the real world?
  21. Sadly, I think SA is quickly catching up with the first world countries were young folk simply cannot afford to buy property. ? In the USA today, unless you are very lucky and have a marvellous trust fund, the only way you will own a property is when your parents pass on and leave it to you. Helps the slum lords among us ? Its getting to the point where its not possible for young people to save sufficient money to get a deposit and they need the cash injection from their parents property which they can sell and buy again. ? ?
  22. 1.8 m / 69 kg race weight (winter fat weight 71 kg)
  23. I suppose that you will still be able to pay for private medial insurance, like the NHS in the UK, but that is on top of the NHS contributions and you would still have to pay into the National Health System. Must say that I dont see the big players like discovery, Life, Mediclinic etc... laying down and taking this, wait for the Concourt ruling in 5 years time
