Trek has the custom g2 geometry so your pretty much stuck with the shock they give you.

Total overkill, 160 / 160 is fine for 99% of 26" XC/trail usage, and 180/160 is fine for 99% 29'er XC/trail usage, anything more than that at the back your just going to lock up the whole time. Especially the rear and that has a negative imapct on your riding and destroys trails.
