  1. The wind in the winter in Bloem can get hectic. Riding on a flat road with a 30km/h+ headwind for 40km at race pace is far worse for me than riding 40km major hills
  2. Same one I suggested. Radar Kop, Kots Koppie, Different name, same Hill
  3. Yeah thats where the statue of Nelson Mandela stands. The climb's gradient and surface makes it too easy.
  4. If it's the tar road up Naval Hill then it is not really worth mentioning.
  5. Hehe, good luck with this one. The only climb worth while is Radar Kop out on the Andries Pretorius road. It's a tar road climb but it is about 1km and total ascent of 100m
  6. What do you guys make of the new date next year April? Surely the heat together with the challenging route will be a factor and maybe they should consider making the starting times earlier?
  7. Was there cheering you on! Proud moment
  8. I saw him lying next to the road as I was finishing the 75km. There was a follow cyclist sitting next to him with Waynes head on his lap and trying to give him water. I sprinted to the finish to call medics. Very sad moment and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends RIP Wayne
  9. Good luck and hope everything turns out ok

  15. That would explain all the sub 3 Argus results he manage to accomplish during the years. Now all he's friends will know he is a cheat and that none of his previous accomplishments means a thing
  16. Thats a gamble he is willing to take. I just want to help him get the best bikes that if they don't ride the bikes, can sell again without to much loss. Like the Anthems
  17. Any suggestions?
  18. Price?
  19. Got a friend who is interested in starting mountain biking with his wife. Please take note that not one of them has ever ridden more than 5km on a bicycle. He asked me to help them search for bikes. He does not want to buy entry level bikes and want something that they do not need to upgrade in a year. The thing is he wants to buy/looking at a GT Marathon Team Carbon 2010 with SLR wheels, 3 × 9 XTR groupo. Here is the specs : http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?year=2010&brand=GT&model=Marathon+Carbon+Team The price is R25k and the bike is new. For his wife he wants/looking at a GT Marathon Expert Carbon with 3 × 9 SLX Spec.Wheelset is Mavic Crossride. Also new. Both of the bikes is 26" wheel sizes. Is it wrong for me to suggest to him to buy a Giant Anthem 29er or similar and for her something else? I know the GT's is not bad bikes but the surely for that amount he can something better/newer ?
