  1. I can't say I spend nearly as much as 50% of time in the drops, but if I'm on a sketchy downhill I'm definitely in the drops! Sitting on the hoods there's a risk of a hand getting bounced off if the gravel gets rough. So likewise I'd say there are a number of obvious reasons to NOT ride gravel exclusively on the hoods/tops. ...my knees might not hit my stomach, but my dodgy neck & back certainly don't appreciate extended time in the drops, even with regular core & mobility workouts.
  2. Enjoy! Looking forward to the ride report, I've been looking at doing a similar loop. It's going to be hot in the KK!
  3. Shame on you! That bike deserves a couch pic 😉

I made the assumption that the comment was linked to the price & perceived ROI. As an Android (read base Android device, not Samsung...) fan I definitely subscribe to the theory that iPhones are overpriced etc.. (the quality of their cameras notwithstanding) But let's not derail the thread! Munga = madness in my book, paying a (for me) large sum to suffer has zero appeal!

Perhaps it didn't display properly on your iPhone? (Personally I don't agree with Dicky's suggestion, especially not after chatting with friends who completed it a few years ago)
  6. @DJR might have some input.
  7. I thought they were just behind you?
  8. @guidodg what size did you order? Have you tried the Hiserwa bibs? The medium Souke I bought from you fit ok (they could be a little tighter in a few spots ideally), but the sizing guides suggest I should be a L in these: https://www.temu.com/za/-mens-bib-cycling-shorts-with-3-absorbing-padding-quick-dry-breathable-high-stretch-fabric-ergonomic-fit-padded--bridge-lightweight-pants-with-pockets-for-road--summer-fall-use-machine-washable-solid-color-multi-color-options--ideal-for-long-distance-riding-racing-cycling-clothes-light-pad-cycling-short-for-women-cycling-shorts-men-padded-gel-padded-cycling-bibs-for-men-cycliste-plus-size-g-601099613269262.html
  9. Sorry nothing like this in the box.
  10. Can you share a pic? Of the cable... I've got a box of random cables after clearing out a mate's stuff, might be a Garmin one.
  11. Is the reach of the bike not going to be of concern when switching to road bars? I looked at converting a flat bar bike to road bars and the resultant reach measurement was going to be significantly longer than my usual road bike setup.
  12. Methinks you're overstating things by about 1ft 😉
  13. Unfortunately this seems to be a common Oakley issue. After experiencing the same with a couple of pairs I switched to Rudy Project and haven't had any issues at all.
  14. If anyone is going through to the race from CT Southern suburbs please let me know. I've got a large box of donated parts etc that I need to get to @Prince Albert Cycles. Thanks
  15. Do a search, there's a thread dedicated to them.
  16. Agreed. Also add in the nature of the course, short laps means riders need to be removed before the risk of them getting lapped.
  17. With that range of setups you'd be better off looking at the trainer bikes, something like a Wahoo Kickr bike. But they're pricy! https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/indoor-cycling/smart-bikes
  18. Sounds like you've done your homework 👍🏼 If in doubt ask @Titan Racing Bikes for confirmation.
  19. Not sure what disc brakes come on those two models, but I'd rather ride an alu frame with hydraulic disc brakes than a carbon frame with mechanical disc brakes.
  20. Not available on Android unfortunately.
  21. I'm riding 45mm Ramblers but they're on my dedicated gravel wheelset. Awesome for the intended purpose but I wouldn't run them on tar, they feel like quite a soft rubber compound. Pretty sure they're based on the Crossmark.
  22. Question, how do you stop those oval seat rails from creaking? I tried a saddle with carbon rails and the creaking drove me crazy! I'm assuming that my seat post is designed for round rails and the ovalised carbon rails just didn't fit properly..
  23. Pity the middle distance has been shortened. I enjoyed last year's 120km. Great to be able to go a bit further than the standard 100km fun ride without having to stretch all the way to 170km+
  24. Anyone lost a Giant TCR lately? Looks like SRAM Red equipped. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1487671639242114/?ref=browse_tab
