  1. shin splints, is a layman's term for pains in the legs, or microscopic bone fractures. This is an overuse injury. YOu probably increased your running very quickly. (Ignoring the 10% a week rule). Very bad boy. This rule of thumb is even more important because as a cyclist, your bone mass is less than you think, making you prone to injury. Only solution 3 weeks off from running. Return to day one of Tim Noekes marathon plan (ie no running only walking for ten weeks). Kiss your 2009 triathlon season good bye

  13. Until now there was one drug that could be safely administrated without fear of getting tested for, that was EPO. Now CERA makes that impossible. EPO is dead, long live the next drug.

  22. Puncture proof, try Vitoria Zafiro's or gator skins THey are heavy and bomb proof. and cheaper for good puncture resistant tyres for races try rubino's and GP4000. THey are more expensive though. You should however be able to get rubino's for under R300 and tyre. Queens=R250 for old Rubino's Karstens for about R280 for new Rubino's (shammyrash pls confirm) Rubino's also come in colours other than black (even white sidewalls for the east randers)
  23. You need not beat yourself up on training. Consider training smart. Read a bit about training. Buy "Serious Cycling" and "Cycling 101" for starters. Also consider "Endurance Cycling". Once you have read these books, design yourself a focused training programme. For starters include one day of hill intervals, starting at about 1% less than the climb you want to do and about half the length. Do about 5 or six of these below LT in each session (oncve a week), in order to get your climbing technique sorted out. Then after about three weeks gradually increase the length and gradient (ie find a steaper long hill). Again sort out your technique before even starting with power intervals.
