  1. Reality check: It's just a bike race. Congratulations on your family addition. You will sleep, shag and race again, just give it time.
  2. Tygerberg MTB / Hoogekraal (CPT) - almost rode into caracal and got the fright of my life. These things are big!!
  3. Tried to cycle along the bike lane in Adderly street / Cpt, avoiding pedestrians (don't mind them), flower stalls (I do mind) and delivery vans (I do mind). At a stop, a flower trader told me, after I chatted to him about the purpose of the bike lane, "this is not America!" and "Mandela is now dead, you go back to America to your American friends and ideas". Anyhow.. (and I am German, and look very German).
  4. we have a GPS based drone for filming of lodges and hotels. Sank one into the Zambezi, but the replacement is working well. haven't done any exciting filming like bike riding yet though...
  5. surely someone driving a Karmann Ghia should be very easy to track down?
  6. that is terrible. Glad he is OK.
  7. and we wonder when students burn cars to claim jobs and houses.
  8. Chappies - probably the only picture of me on a bike that I actually like!
  9. I put my powder into a small ziplock bag and pour it into a water bottle when needed. Not sure what difference a balloon makes :-)
  10. my set: get pool cover off. slowly walk into cold water. Dive to make the pain go away quickly. feel zero gravity for a moment while under water. come up - grab beer. Sit on the step and relax. Repeat as many times as needed.
  11. yeah, they suck - both in the car and by bike. Have perfected the diagonal approach though, which works on 90% of the times (by bike). Car suspension surely don`t have an issue - that's what they are made for. At the end of the day I rather see cars slow down in front of a dangerous area or school, so bring them on is what I say. Am in a street in Gardens Cape Town, two schools within 100 metres, no speed bumps, kids everywhere and cars speeding by at 90 kms. I wish we'd have more effective speed bumps.
  12. SPD pedals - set them to the lowest unclipping resistance (little allen key needed) for easy exit. practice a few times and you'll be fine. three years down the line, I have still set mine to the lowest resistance :-)
  13. I have a great trick too. Pack my bike into the car, take it to LBS and pick up the same evening.. lazy me :-)
  14. not to worry...bikes are fairly capable..: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhabgvIIXik
  15. Paul Kaye Amazing, not even two hours later, and Swift phone and offer Kelly a new helmet and sunglasses. Thank you

  17. Which Bike for R60K. a car.
  18. Except they are not a bicycle shop.
  19. I keep it with Ron Swanson: Turkey can never beat cow.
  20. there is a place called Lindsay's swimm school, my son swam there when he was a year. It is in Bothasig though, the woman is a bit roff, but good at teaching. And it is an indoor pool.
  21. I agree, and didn't say I don't advocate breaking their legs and feeding them the contents of my Pepperspray container into their rectum. But I wouldn't want to live with having killed someone. All I'm saying.
  22. Especially a 5 :00AM as CCC does it - I have ridden with them and seriously, that stretch past the Flea Market (nice wide yellow lane) felt much safer than riding through Montague Gardens on the way back to Edgemead.
  23. how much more for a Thule rack that includes lights and numberplate holder?
  24. incredible, imagine jumping out of a plane, into the war zone, fold up your bike and ride on... I don't think will be able to even imagine what was going on in these times.
  25. kill someone who wanted to take your bicycle?
