LOL, yours is not smaller, 2400W vs 360W and the battery in the UPS is probably far smaller than your 2x105Ah. It should still be more than sufficient though. Edit: I checked, only one 7Ah battery in the UPS. Maybe you should get one with at least 2 x 7Ah or connect another 7Ah in parallel with the one in the UPS. Those "gate motor" batteries go flat pretty quickly.

Agree. I have 4 x 200Ahr GEL batteries and they are pretty poor. Not withstanding the load shedding onslaught very well. I'm looking for Li batteries but the best price I found so far for a 4.8kW is ~R22k. What did you have for only R7.5k?
