Momsen 20 inch is R3,999 so not that much more, agree with you weight wise, thats a helluva difference for a kid

So as I eagerly await the delivery of my OneTen29er frame (hopefully only another 2 weeks) I am deciding on what bar, stem and seat post to get, so my question: would it be sacrilege to get the above components in carbon ? I'm currently looking at getting a Ritchey saddle post and handle bar and trying to decide between a Hope XC stem or the Ritchey WCS260 stem. Thoughts ?

Hi guys, I want to get a 20 inch mtb for my son for his birthday in September, I want to get him something decent, so far the Momsen and the Specialized Hot Rock come out tops, difference is the Momsen is rigid and the Specialized has a Suntour fork. Momsen goes for R4k and Spez about R3,200, leaning toward the Momsen just from a weight point of view, the forks on most 20 inch bikes seem to be a waste of time. Any thoughts or suggestions ?

Howsit All, I have just finished building p my 1st single speed, converted my 95 Gt Talera. I'm doing the 70km Diamond Rush next weekend,it will be my 3rd ride on the bike and I'm wondering what gear I should go with, I currently have 32 16 on, any reccomendations ? I'm a decent rider, I've done 2 joberg2c's, finished middle of the pack, I'm by no means a racing snake, do I stick with 32 16 or change ?

Haven't done Berg & Bush, I've done Joberg2c, the Berg & Bush section is awesome, for me day 4 of Joberg2c (descent off escarpment) is better than day 8 (descent into umkomaas valley).

Hi Nigel, Are there any other events planned for later in the year, I only expect to get my Pyga around mid July so I won't make the next event at Giba.

So I'm guessing I won't be able to ride Enduro on my 29er, even something like a Pyga OneTen 29er ?

Tread had a very good article on stage races and what costs are involved for organisers, there is a lot more than meets the eye. Bottom line is these guys are running a business and are entitled to make a profit, they are not there to put on a charity event for the riders, they run a business just like any other. My view: If you feel it is to expensive then don't enter.

Excellent tyre for its intended purpose, I've had 26 inch UST Race Kings with absolutely no issue. I would say though that a weekend warrior would do better with an X king on the back due to the extra grip

Sani was R8,900 so R7,500 is not really that bad, it is an awesome race. If you want a stage race on a budget that is still n excellent ride go for 3 Towers.
