  1. Very true, I seen during the argus a guys handlebar snap off clean just on the outside of the stem. I found that my bars slipped when i hit big bumps even when torque to the specified NM, removed the bars cleaned it up with degreaser and added some copper slip on the face plate and sides of and torqued it up, problem solved Always advisable to get a torque wrench IMHO

  7. Have to agree with dipslick, most shops will tell you they can do it but reality is that they try but don't succeed I stick to the smaller shops and specifically take my road bike to a shop that deals mostly in road bikes and the MTB will go to a more MTB specific shop.

  9. Wow, and that road is super busy, so busy i dont cycle down it anymore out of fear for being knocked down.
  10. I normally prepack my cycling kit "socks, top, shorts and uv arm protectors " oneside in my cupboard so its a matter of grab and go. I leave my chamios and sunscreen,HR belt in my helmet so I dont have to look for anything. I only ride on water so its a matter of just add ice for. I get home at 4:30pm and iam out the by 4:45pm for the latest, if its a morning ride then I need 30min that's including going to the bathroom and making breakfast.
  11. Simple, prepare the night before
  12. Its normally safe esp from a weekend warrior, if its a ex team bike I'll be careful although they maintained, they also ridden hard. I normally check for any paint chips esp on the underside of the down tube this normally says the bike is either well used or not. any scratches or road rash will also give you a indication of its past but isn't always clear cut. then the chain stays on the drive side for any chain slap marks. Anything 2nd hand is "voets toets"
  13. Anthem all the way.
  14. It looks more like a cross between a "anthem and trek" the front of a anthem and the rear of a trek, seems they sorted out the anthem cracking story with that extra ridge.

  17. About a month before the Argus i was involved in a accident on milner road when this lady driving a IX35 coming from kenilworth side heading towards the common deicded to politly perform a U-turn to dodge the traffic and turned straight into 2 of us cycling on the opposite side of the road, she was more worried about was how her fender and door was kinked, my front wheel and fork needed to be replace.
