  1. what width Scorpion are you currently using?
  2. What an achievement!!! I wonder if racing at a warmer time of year helped considering the longer daylight... he did mention the crazy winds so maybe that offset?
  3. What a sprint that would have been if JA hadnt crashed?? Hope he heals up fast. Road cycling hasnt been this exciting for a while? The prospect of the 3 of them, Sagan and a few other battling it it in the Classics next year is going to make it very entertaining!!!
  4. TODAY the best rider won... Great racing!!!
  5. yup... 6.8kgs is the minimum allowed weight at licensed events.... thats not to say they will weight your bike, but thats the general rule. They are stricter at events like SA Champs and for Elite cyclists though where you wont be allowed to start an event with a bike lighter than the minimum.
  6. The SL7 is more rounded imo... i saw both yesterday at my LBS and prefer the light aero frame vs a more classic climbing type frame of the Aethos
  7. you must have a very understanding wife or you know how to disguise the new purchases well
  8. For pretty much the same price i would rather buy the S-Works SL7. Better all round bike. That said its different strokes for different folks so if you want lightness in Specialized then they have that spot on. Just a pity you will have to add weight to race any licensed event. Thats like repainting a Picasso to fit the model style of a house.
  9. All those 4th generation Kickr's bought before lock down are about to flood the market!!
  10. You are right... i suspect he was using a tubby ... enough said?? Also in a race, these type of things do come with the territory, and the current finish of the 94.7 also comes to mind. However, you arent talking about tour pro's who deal with fast corners on a regular basis. This is a sunday mass participation races where people tend to over extend themslves. As the saying goes "Their ambition levels way exceeded their talent levels"
  11. To have a high speed downhill 90' turn into the finish "straight" isn't the wisest choice ever regardless of which group you are racing in. Everyone in the front of their group wants to be competing in some way or another so will likely be over extended at that point. That and combined with equipment elements which may be on the extreme (eg, tyres slipping, gears jumping) is asking for accidents and the organisers need to be accountable for putting competitors in that position. I last did the race in VB a few years back, and we went into that corner at a pace, only to see a guys tyre slip off his rim and him hitting the pavement. It was ugly. That was it for me... no need to race for the massive sum of what exactly???? A photo on the podium this year maybe, and some hospital bills next year?
  12. R700!!! For an essentially gravel road race? I was considering it, but not anymore...
  13. The classifieds overall... it doesn't open any of the drop downs... basically cant see any of the adds. It shows the categories, but nothing comes up when you click on the link
  14. Preferred the old site much more... this one looks very bare on opening. Links don't open either... I hope you get it 100% up and going asap
  15. If anyone is looking for a Colnago saddle, please let me know. I took it off my new C64... Its a Prologo saddle with Ti rails... asking R1500 for it.
  16. Low ball offers is one thing however, you should be able to rate rude comments on an advert, or this should be removable from the comments on the advert without having to post an entirely new advert. Maybe admin can include this as a feature??
  17. Racing Ralph front and rear... sorted for speed and grip Other combo is Specialized Fast Track GRID tyre... they have finally taken a leaf from Schwalbe and fixed the sidewall issues... this one works really well
  18. My question is this... why wait until 12 noon to do the prizes when pretty much all was decided by 11 latest? Then to add to that, they give out envelopes... which you think contain cash or something similar... but NO. It has a sticker on it telling to you email the group by the 26th in order to receive payment within 30 days!!! Also no mention on the envelope as to what the cash prize is.... So you stick around for what exactly. I checked the website just to see, and the prizes mentioned on there for last year were R750 1st, R500 2nd and R250 3rd... across all the cats. Now I know we don't race for a living but hells bells at least give more than the entry fee!! Away from that the trails were great. The comradeship was awesome, and it had a great vibe. Some of the markings needed to be reconsidered as it sent people on some seriously wayward routes, but hey its all in a days ride??
  19. https://www.strava.com/activities/18036479#329229593 These are the mtb loops you can do... the top right one is a little overgrown Also at the top of Mike's Pass you can continue on the contour line and then ride towards Cathkin Peak ... very remote so I would advise riding with someone else. https://www.strava.com/activities/1342943715#33281709234
  20. The area behind the golf course is superb... Ride upto Lake William in a big loop... you can come down to the golf course on the walking trail which is VERY technical or just keep following the quad trails...
  21. Plenty good trails around the hotel... take your climbing legs and you will have a great time!!
  22. Oops I missed the entry date... does anyone know if there will be online entries open?
  23. I am finding it more common for hubbers to ask for your private contact details, and then when you give it to them you never hear from them again... is this becoming more common?
  24. What i want 2 know is how SAIDS dishes out these sanctions? KE had a difference in his Blood Biological Passport and gets 4 years ban.... his team mate DG gets bust for EPO and gets 22 months, and then Rouke Crouser gets 4 years for EPO... where is the consistency Mind you we are talking about SAIDS where anything can happen
  25. So very very nice... and so generous of your wife What size is it?
