I ride Specialized and love it. Everybody is devoted to where they have dropped the most dosh in order to justify their own spend. Having said that, if you are going to go big, go REALLY big. What about looking at the Parlee - rated as the best bikes on the planet (if you can get your hands one) - even the website looks like carbon. It is the shiznit! www.parleecycles.com

How does everybody carbo load? I was always led to believe that you eat pasta, potatoes etc. for a few days before and drink those stupidly expensive carbohydrate drinks for 3 days. Now I am being told that it is all rubbish. The best thing to do is on the day before a race, spin for 40 minutes, then go balls to the wall for 3 minutes, jump off the bike and down a very sugary drink (grape juice etc.). What is best/right/done???

TIP from experience: When using a CO2 bomb, make sure that the VALVE IS OPEN BEFORE RELEASING THE BOMB!!!! DAMMIT!!!!! could not understand why there was all this hissing going on and the tyre was staying deflated. Only after the the whole thing had gone nuts did I realise that I had forgotten to open the valve.
