  6. Did the same for a lady cyclist I passed on the side of the road last week. she had already changed her punctured tube and accidentally punctured her only replacement…. So I gave her mine and also showed her how to replace the tube without using tyre levers (she had a small metal tyre lever that was part of a multi tool thing, which I’m sure caused the second puncture. No I didn’t get her name, even tho she asked how she can replace my tube, I said it’s karma, next time you stop and help someone else….
  7. Ai reading this thread…. Some of us are really privileged not to have to think about self defense when we go out riding…. Other than what SPF (sun protection factor) to use.

  11. Interesting topic I have bee's (the tamer European kind) that seem to be moving into one of my balcony pot plants. They enter through the water filling port and seem to be setting up in the base of the pot plant. There is a lot of bee activity as they are constantly flying in and out. Does anyone have a idea on how to discourage them without harming them? I've tried burning a citronella candle at the water port but it seems to have no effect, the candle went out last night and this morning i found one of them walking all over the candle 😁
  12. 2022 Tour De Suisse now rolling WELL DONE Daryl !!! Daryl Impey (Israel-Premier Tech) won stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse to show he is back to his best after two years of injuries and comebacks. The South African rider opened his sprint with perfect timing down the left as other riders clashed on the right, to surge past Alberto Bettiol (EF Education-EasyPost) and hold off Michael Matthews (BikeExchange-Jayco) on the line. Søren Kragh Andersen (Team DSM) was third. Bettiol hung on to take fourth and Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) was fifth. It was Impey’s first WorldTour win since his victory on stage 9 at the 2019 Tour de France and his first win since taking the 2020 South African national road race championships. 15. Very good point raised by Guillaume Martin and Thibaut Pinot Thibaut Pinot and Guillaume Martin speak out against Rafael Nadal's injections | Cyclingnews French cyclists question ethics of Rafael Nadal's Roland Garros injection use (yahoo.com) Nadal cruised to the Roland Garros crown as he thrashed Norway's Casper Ruud 6-3 6-3 6-0 to win a historic 22nd grand slam title. In the aftermath, the Spaniard revealed he was able to get through the tournament by treating his injured foot with injections which shut down certain nerves and, in his words, put the foot "to sleep". Nadal has endured issues with his foot injury since 2005 when he was first diagnosed with a rare hereditary problem which affected his tarsal scaphoid bone. An insole in his trainer eradicated the issue as the player reached the pinnacle of the sport. Last year, however, the injury flared up once more as Nadal was forced to miss Wimbledon, the Olympics and the US Open. The 36-year-old returned to action after injecting his foot with painkilling drugs - something which helped him win this year's Australian Open. During the French Open though, Nadal changed his injection strategy, saying: "I still had not injected my nerve. After the Moutet match, we concluded that I could not keep injecting myself where I had been because it continued to worsen. We chose to inject the nerve at a distance, which was good. We would never have gotten to this point if we had not done that." Since then, French cyclist Thibaut Pinot took to social media and appeared to offer a satirical view on the matter. Quoting a tweet in which Nadal failed to disclose how many injections he received, the rider wrote: "The heroes of today…". On Tuesday, another French cyclists, Guillaume Martin, added to the debate in an exclusive interview with L'Equipe. As quoted by Cycling News, he said: "What Nadal did would have been impossible in cycling, and I find that normal. "If you're ill or injured, you don't race, you don't compete, that makes sense to me, for several reasons. Firstly, for the health of athletes. In the long-term I'm not sure that will do any good to Nadal's ankle. "Moreover, medication - and especially injections - don't just have a healing effect; they can certainly have effects on performance or be twisted to improve performance, so it seems to me to be very much on the limit."
  16. Agree 100%, running under 4min/km for 10km is out of the reach for many runners, based on genetics and physical ability... or the lack thereof. Whereas finishing an ultra in the allotted time is more down to mental capacity, which has almost no boundaries. Provided its an ultra geared for the masses.
  17. Luckily our criminals tend to target team busses or warehouses that are stacked full of bikes and parked somewhere overnight, they don't go all aggro and do the single bike at a time hijack thing (touch wood).
  18. After a few years of putting up with SRAM drive chain (clicking noises) and brake issues (pads rubbing on disks) I eventually decided to skip buying new wheels for my road bike and will spend the $ on a complete new Shimano XT drive chain and brakes... I really hope like hell my LBS can get the parts quickly, otherwise I think I'm going to tilt.... This is the first bike I've had with SRAM s h i t e parts, and the last Long live Shimano Rant over

  22. It’s also great for tracking the distances you run with your running shoes…..
  23. The notifications are just 1 part of the problem. I think most people respond to kudos received by awarding them to those people, vicious circle syndrome…. Maybe it’s just best to ignore the kudos button and eventually you won’t receive any either.
  24. Just ask the waiter to work out the costs separately or provide a bill for each persons portion, that’s how it works on planet Zug.
