  1. cycling? or everyday?
  2. Taiwan are there. They make the bikes, might as well make the start list too!
  3. https://www.tudorprocycling.com/post/welcome-marc-hischi-and-fabian-lienhard Hirschi has been very subtle and klapped some solid results in the past year and is now above Jonas in the rankings.
  4. So I guess the appeals all came to naught. Only GM lining up in the elites. https://www.uci.org/race-hub/2024-uci-mountain-bike-world-championships-xco-xcc-xcr-e-mtb-dhi/2zgmBmOg9QwsdCfiiVRNWM?tab=men-elite-dhi3

  6. anyone else here doing Puffer this weekend? as i did my first Oceans and first Comrades this year i figured i might as well pop this cherry too.
  7. I couldn't find an actual Ineos(sky?) thread, but this seemed relevant enough for a rest day muse. Since then Rog has of course gone to Bora, and Remco was sort of going to move to Ineos as part of a QS supermerger, which never happend. But apart form that, *Brailsford has moved to Man united/Nice even though he may be principally involved with the cycling team, not sure how much time he actually puts in. *Bernal has recovered to ride a bike at about 95% of his former level. *none of the other hotshots has done much *lost quite a few next big things *old guys getting very old 2022 roster top12 on current rankings ppoints 2024 roster top12 Ineos currently sit 4th on the team rankings, with highest individual rider only 19th. They are not going to get much out of vuelta either and could fall even down to 6/7th by year end. If Pidcock jumps, it's hard to get excited by much going on here. The team is "funded" till 2027, but could it fold before then if Sir Jim gets bored throwing money at it? They reportedly have the second biggest budget, but with red bull/lidl raising their game and intermarche smashing it with their scraps it's hard to see things remaining as is.
  8. smart money is still on Rog to come a 4 time winner and Mas a 4 time bridesmaid.
  9. where have you moved to?
  10. I know quite a few are comparing it to Kuss winning it last year, but that was different as Decathlon do not have the top3 riders there. This could be more like JAP having yellow, and then unexpectedly holding onto it deep into the tour.
  11. They have a decent mountains squad, if he is up for it then he will not be alone not quite. he held it all the way to the line. Bora admitted they got this one horribly wrong.
  12. SWARTBERG 100 It has been a fantastic 9 years of hosting the Swartberg 100 Gran Fondo in our beautiful town of Prince Albert. In 2016 we launched South Africa’s first dedicated gravel bike race, we chose the slogan “Choose your Weapon!” which seems to have caught on in SA’s cycling world. We wanted all-comers on any bikes, knowing that eventually gravel bikes would dominate the race format and route. We let it naturally evolve, and it’s been a wonderful experience to see the racing fraternity go from “What’s a gravel bike?” to long discussions on tyre size and gearing on the myriad of gravel bikes available in the market today. We have had to re-evaluate our focus and available time on all the projects we have going in the MTBAfrica Events company. There is the return on investment in time and money but more importantly there is the opportunity cost to consider. Our GravelGrinder Tours are hugely successful, they are “Cycling, social and culinary adventures” involving 3 days of 60km per day in SA’s prettiest Karoo towns, enjoying the best cycling routes in the area, the local cuisine in top notch restaurants and a vast array of the best of South African wines to choose from at all the meals. We run 12 to 14 of these per annum. We have recently launched the KarooRak, a bicycle rack we can proudly say is South Africa’s toughest and most functional bike rack. It has been tested for more than 4 years transporting our customer’s bikes on tour, we have considered every frustration and shortfall of bike racks on the market today. We believe we have a winner. Given our current commitments, it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the end of the Swartberg 100 Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo, we thank you for all your support in the past, it’s been a great journey. Yours Sincerely John Swanepoel - Race Director and Chief Domestique https://www.karoogravelgrinder.com/ seems like a lekker business, hope they can keep growing it.
  13. I was on the same bandwagon, as I'm a total cheapskate. but I asked the right people and it seemed the hype was backed up by actual fact. If you calculate the actual carbs you get it is on a par pricewise. I did some ultra distance running, where you can't just sommer carry everything so easily so this made a lot of sense. I'm convinced this stuff is magic and if you can get past the jelly like consistency is very easy to keep down. I'd totally use it again for a big event.
  14. i've used that one (i think). it's like a bowl of oats reduced to syrup consistency. I'm pretty good at keeping stuff down and it used to have a standard cap that you could screw back on. i can see people struggling with it though, very thick to digest almost battles to come out the container.
  15. @Pornstar was here in the last year?!
  16. kry die oom warm in die puffer jacket?
  17. did not have to google it to know that there is more climbing! but on checking it is indeed shorter and steeper TdF km/m climbing 3498 53103 https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/vuelta-a-espana/2024/route vuelta km/metres climbing 3304.3 59934

  21. my donder. he broke the internet (sure it was still just 512k dialup, but he moered it plat)
  22. https://foreverfresh.co.za - go for the butter chicken locally made, portion sizes are a bit small mama alles - no one seems to like them, but cheaper. all the imported ones are pretty decent, just cost a bit more.
  23. So a sting operation? https://www.3bo.mobi/ I know this is not a new idea, but your solution is unique. Instead of hiding the tracker somewhere you make it obvious. The thief will then steal someone else's bike first!
  24. that is a hot squad. Good to see Jay Vine returning to a GT, he probably had the biggest injuries at that crash in the Basque country that took out remco/jv et al
