  1. What does he actually do? He is the "CEO" of the best run province, by a country mile. He was actually dressed like that as part of awareness, yet you still complain because you feel for some election year chit chat. Go back into your hole.
  2. Yeah, nah yeah, totally disagree. You most definitely can break laws that don't make sense* as a form of protest. Here is a nice dude breaking a law, by burning his passbook to protest Sharpeville massacre in 1960. Obviously a massive leap to riding on the N1, but the principal is the same. *more than happy to debate this section of road being legal as a side fact.
  3. Neeeeeeever going to happen. Port is controlled access, they most definitely do not want it as a thoroughfare.
  4. my sailor/kiter/cyclist wind prediction for sunday with 48hrs* to go: Depending on where you are sleeping, you might have wind on sat night worrying you, but mild SE wind for all start groups till muizenberg it will blow you sideways from there till smits Then you're cool, although the chappies weird valley downdrafts could be a thing. *this is a very unusual wind pattern this weekend as the South Atlantic high is moving passed and dissipating over sunday - SOOOOOOOOOOOO, nothing is guaranteed from this far out.
  5. expo run done late on thursday parking was a schlepp, but this was during peak traffic. might be decent options here, but bike seems to be best option if you can work that Cannondale and Giant both got kiff bikes on display. no real bike shops like old days, but ECC have a small store. You can buy (omnico)ryder spares at the clothing/official merchants if you want sunglasses, loads of deals there Took the Tim test - (melanoma scanning) I failed it - yay!

    Cape Epic 2026

got a mate and R150k lying around, here's your plan B! https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/event-entries/891778/absa-cape-epic-entry-avis-upgrade-for-sell?return_to=L2NsYXNzaWZpZWRzL2MvZW50cmllcy1hbmQtc2VydmljZXM (pretty sure the charity one at R120k but without the upgrades is long gone) Don't have that much bucks, but wanna buy this champ and his buddy some shirts in exchange for "worldwide expoure"? https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/other-services/889280/opportunity-for-sponsorship-at-2026-epic?return_to=L2NsYXNzaWZpZWRzL2MvZW50cmllcy1hbmQtc2VydmljZXM_cGFnZT0y

    Cape Epic 2026

So probably the most notorious Cape Epic doping scandal involved someone who they pretty much wrote that rule about. but it was retrospective so he's been back pretty much every year since he was in the green again (and running a half decent bike shop too). All things considering, the choice of team name this year is slightly provocative in this regard. (and know I'm not putting his actual name since I don't really have time for Emma letters, IFYKYK)
  9. exactly. I posted earlier that they ran trains for Peninsula marathon a fortnight ago. It will probably be similar, except obviously that is a point to point race that runs along the end points of the southern line. Here was the schedule that was posted by Celtics 2 weeks before race day. Methinks the schedule is already available but CTCT just haven't posted it publicly for whatever reason. I once got caught out taking the train from muiz - it was 5 mins early and i missed it - could have got a later one and started a few groups back, but chose to ride to the M3 and put a thumb out - picked up a lift in 2mins!

so the race number allocation is a bit weird, but #1 must have been reserved for defending champs Scott/Sram and #5 for Beers/Swenson. It has very little to do with last years results

    Cape Epic 2026

Is it just me or is there VERY little CapeEpic hype currently? Few weeks out, hopefully the world doesn't implode in the meantime and people can still fly here. The days of our Matt Beers lives seems to be the only story just dropping in this one here...confessions of a strava stalker. The Dane is still riding in Girona currently. Beers has gone off grid into the karoo. speed company racing are training with beers. beyond that....slow news, even AI is behind the times
  12. train worked well for Peninsula marathon 2/3 weeks ago - they will get it done, so problem might actually be with CTCT and their slow update.
  13. about the 30th for me - remains such a cool day to be out. super stoked for it as it's #2 with my son on the back of a tandem. but according to strava have done just 131km on the bike since Jan1 so we will suffer and just have fun. only got the actual tandem yesterday, but it looks fast! totally new vibes and such a kiff day to be out on the bike.
  14. thought he was out for a while after his cyclocross injury anyway....will come back "rested"
  15. and this is why we can't have nice things.....
  16. here's one in the flesh https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/876954/2026-giant-anthem-advanced-sl1-all-new?referrer=top&return_to=L2NsYXNzaWZpZWRzL2MvZHVhbC1zdXNwZW5zaW9uLWJpa2Vz
  17. pretty cool to see Alan (nogal in the *** SA kit) all over that. If anyone can compare a Giant Anthem to a Spez Epic (and a Cannondale Scalpel) it's him. Really wondering if this will see a spark in sales for this iconic brand. 20 years ago 50% of the field was on a maestro geo Anthem (and spez was a boutique brand that only this Sauser guy was riding) - could see a lot of them lining up at Meerendal in a months time.
  18. Yes it's an ebike specific thing. Eric the ebike can comfortably do 30km/h on the flat and 25 kmh up hill while holding a conversation. Alan analogue is much fitter, he can pull the group at 30km/h on the flat but is bleeding through nostrils at 25km/h uphill for a minute and then he's cooked. It requires management. And they're noisy

I would dig to see Primoz come do Epic with Beers, calendar looks nice and clean too

    Cape Epic 2026

yes. Just plugged in the riders from those teams who had ridden a MTB, and of course going to get picked apart here. but this is AI so it also included Remco as a long shot because he used to play soccer. So yes, posted as delivered. As far as I'm concerned this is newsworthy speculation of the highest order we get in bikehubland. Koretzky is seemingly not keen for an Epic debut(he hasn't done it, AFAIK). here is the team off road team of mtb marathon/gravel crowd https://www.instagram.com/p/DSx2B56jDFX/ so who's this kid from denmark then who couldn't keep up with a washed up frenchie roadie over the weekend?. https://www.instagram.com/p/DS-GmRKDBAA/
  21. https://www.instagram.com/p/DUgbta1jA6t/ this seems to have missed the news cycle here, and can;t actually find anything written on it - maybe all the journos were at Tankwa trek. impressive turn laaitie! https://www.procyclingstats.com/rider/blaine-kieck
