  1. jussis, okes have been uniquely touched on their Absa Cape Epic studio. Reputations like this are not given out willy nilly, they are earned. It must be near the 3rd week of March already. I guess I'll wait for my deep Pietersfontein Valley Montagu contacts to tell us how the Absa Cape Epic behaves compared to say, L'Eroica.
  2. What are you on about? This is a thread about littering in pristine mountain areas on racedays because you feel like you have earned the right by paying the entry fee. Cape epic has a terrible reputation in this regard, because they allow their clients to do it and "someone will go clean up". If been to trails 2/3 weeks after epic has come through and seen loads there just off the trail, indicating that a clean team swept the area and did a half arsed job. if you're going to be kumba ya about your tjommies who have dedicated their past year to this race, cool - please tell them to stash their trash.
  3. Disgusting. People really think someone else is going to come pick up after them. Even if that is the case (and it's a serious deferral of duty) then stuff blows away. Hardcore zero tolerance name and shame is the only viable option here, and the riders need to be empowered to do it. Sort of related, this is what i picked up in 2km between waterpoints at the peninsula marathon 8 days ago. There are bins, "but someone else will get it". Windy day and guess where the stormwater drains go.... edit:stupid HEIC image format

    Cape Epic 2026

whoaaah. part of the teamsport challenge is getting to the startline with a fit team. In the days of yore, there would be backup teams and then a shift in personnel with someone elevated. Phone must be buzzing at SpezHQ - still enough time to work something out here.
  5. sorry, not much help here. couldn't resist...
  6. here's the original thread following the news in june 2024. 13 pager
  7. I was unaware of this, but as the dad of a girl scout this is refreshing to hear. They took this action against the individual but more importantly to set a precedent that there is zero tolerance and no idle threats either. Actively prevents potential incidents down the line, as we can see what sweeping it under the carpet has done for much publicized Waterpolo coaches.
  8. Great post, and this paragraph sums up my view on a lot of these topics. I have had the seed to articulate it long form as the "tragedy of the common cyclist", but some other wordsmith is welcome to run with that if they see fit. We have a perception of how the cycling community is perceived, and as the vulnerable community we need to be the ones doing the olive branching. But try get that point across, the recent active thread on this issue has been something like "motorists vs cyclists", people want a fight. There is one large scale petrol=>battery transport device well under way - delivery e-scooters. Unfortunately these guys are volume driven and mainly use the roads like complete #@$#@$@# which doesn't help the cause in anyway.
  9. you can do a triathlon in this wetsuit. either if you are raising money for charity or have lost a bet
  10. hey, so see further up you entered a 5150 @ R1k per entry, which is super cheap for Tri - they don't like to make things affordable as there is a money making ecosystem driven on hype! Awesome to see some people doing it on a budget - train properly and you will fly past people on fancypants stuff. But definitely get some slicks, you will be training too so whatever distance you ride on your mtb will just wear down the knobblies anyway! plus if you ever do a road race then you have that back. undoing the tubeless is a schlepp, but worth it. Most of the fancy stuff you do not NEED to have,
  11. In that case pink ones are HOT!
  12. pretty sure you're not going to find those dedicated blue training tyres in 24", so just look for the skinniest tyre with the least amount of tread. higher up this page I had a very similar quest for 24" tyres for a hybrid type bike. went with those spesh tyres suggested - they are very wide, just fit. good luck
  13. Did the cycle your management get outsourced? To an international company too nogal? Bottom of my seeding email These guys came out of seemingly nowhere to hold the world trail champs on Tmnp next year https://www.golazo.com/news/golazo-south-africa-launches-and-will-organize-the-2027-world-trail-running-championships-in-cape-town/
  14. bliksem, maybe that was the reason it got donated!! The Thule kool-aid is strong!! nils at woodstock cycles might know some random sources for this sort of thing, otherwise loads of options here starting at 7 euros. https://www.bike24.com/cycling/parts/bike-tires?attributes[wheelSize][]=18"+(390mm)&attributes[wheelSize][]=18"+(355mm)
  15. Someone here used to have a signature along the lines of: "It's always a P()35 in a white bakkie"
  16. maybe SNB will write a cease and desist letter to this guy to remove his posts from the interwebs.
  17. In 2024 when 5 people finished (including you know who), he was one of only two to start the final lap and not complete. He's a tough frenchie, with incredible hair.
  18. If you want to get it out further, the community neighbourhood watch groups have access to LPR camera systems and can track offenders. - it's a good way to get stuff done, with SAPS, but not through SAPS (if that makes sense). https://fishhoekcpf.co.za/ There are just more cars on the road and many people are now just too entitled to not share the bit that they are fighting over. This recent thing of choking up an intersection when it's become red because you couldn't wait for a gap to open up just sums it up perfectly. - there's even a toothless campaign on it.
  19. all sound reasoning. I do however see number plates being more important going forward - see enough with the LRP systems being used in our neighbourhood watch that is then shared to adjoining and wider networks. so snapping a picture could be part of a much larger body of evidence that fits a smoking gun together. Whilst we are on a viable thread hijack here, are there any updates on the actual incident of this post? It doesn't seem like anyone connected to the riders/club are active here. If they are but don't want to comment, support is here.
  20. Maybe there is more vigilance over payday weekends, I just don't see it. (have actually observed what seems a lot more taxis getting check this past fortnight in CT) What gets me is how Christmas time at DEZEMBA they roll out their blitzes, because we all know that's when it happens most. This is a quick long term average illustration. Because the guys who are parting payday weekends during the "low season" are definitely klapping it in Dezemba.
  21. Wonder how business is going? Surely you put your leg between your tail and disappear to start a new life when this happens?? Got all contact numbers and a home address.... https://besterperformance.com/about/
  22. To be honest, I really thought this is what you meant by el cheepo.....
  23. that does look cool. what radar is it twinned with?
  24. wonder what the OP @Cheese got in the end? hasn;t been back here in a while!
  25. Why not do a flash deal advertised on the hub? cut the middle man out the business so more margin for you? You might get some proper loyal and decent word of mouth supporters. or is their convenience and shipping just worth the 15% (i think that's their cut). Happy for you to ignore this unsolicited business advice!
