  1. Clearly the Mike Bolhuis crew isn't too concerned with lawyers letters, as this is the source of that article. YOU MAY SHARE THIS PUBLIC DOCUMENT https://www.mikebolhuis.co.za/post/success-project-taun-bewsher-persistent-scammer-and-fraudster-arrested-part-3
  2. Tyres changed 3 times. so 4 sets in total! (brake pads every day.) Surprised to see he didn't go with a dropper post on the more single track heavy stages. *************** this is a great feature, thanks for doing it
  3. Clearly you weren't that interested then...this says as much about you as a potential tire kicker wasting a retailer's time as it does their customer feedback performance. but you did take the time to come post it here.... @EasyBike potential sale here, or not. maybe just checking out on pricing across the board. (let's see what that does)
  4. Sounds like it's time for the legal experts to give their views. @Harryn still around? I would like to think that multiple cases opened up would add some weight, if so anyone involved before should really join this effort listed above.
  5. a nuanced look at this. https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/analysis-which-of-tadej-pogacar-mathieu-van-der-poel-or-remco-evenepoel-can-win-all-5-monuments
  6. I thought that too. and then figured he probably does both and we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg. Might even have multipe id books for all you know.

  9. She has a steep road ahead of her, or she can cut her losses and bail - tough position to be in and he hope she has the backup network you mention (and a solid prenup). On reflection I looked up the first (i think) thread/post he did here. hard lockdown, so out of every crisis there is an opportunity. He got called out immediately, but showed remorse. I am glad I gave him the benefit of the doubt and a second chance back then, but he used that up and more. but on reflection, it is clear to see that he was believing his own bullsh1t. Quite amazing it is almost five years already. If ONLY he put so much energy into a legitimate business.
  10. https://www.go2berg.co.za/ride-2025-overview/experience-go2berg-in-2025-entries-are-open/ this is quite lekker. and 6 days of riding, is R25k per pair in a tent.
  11. Indeed, the one with a R10k discount from RRP is going to be a better option than the one with R1500 discount. There is of course a real question if the bikes listed here are actually available/in stock, but this is probably my size. https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/gravel-bikes/products/bianchi-arcadex-carbon-grx-600-11-speed-2023
  12. great race report from the field. So what next? *Epic take this on board and look to find the sweetspot on making the bulk of the amateur field happy to be there with a few more luxuries, while still bankrolling the whole affair? *races that fell away - 7 day joberg2C/7day pioneer come back to fill the void had a quick squizz at Cape pioneer. currently in year two of a 5 stage relaunch with 2 race villages. about 140 teams (some single riders) so probably 200 riders in 2024. entry is R21k pp early bird for a team. accom ranges from R2k for a tent up to R43k if you run a hedge fund. or arrange your own. If I was their marketing guy I would be punting this race HARD right now.
  13. Here it is for under R30k. https://bike-addict.co.za/products/avalanche-roam-carbon-gravel

  15. Sentencing last week. slap on the wrist. I have 2 questions: *why was there no blood/alcohol test taken - did the navy step in? *why does the media not follow these sort of things? https://www.facebook.com/cyclistsstayalive/posts/pfbid02FoNuuBaBBbagTAaVdJC5W1PvACzqLvLeHag2uwo2kkT9bRqM1c7Tdf2atKRABfs8l Last week Garth Pasha was handed down his sentence after he rammed into Dewald van der Westhuizen in Dec 2023. Pasha pleaded guilty to reckless driving and failing to stop at the scene of the crash. Dewald testified in court and told the magistrate about his long and painful recovery period. On the first charge Pasha received a R20 000 fine or 12 months imprisonment. R10 000 of that has been suspended unless he commits the same crime in the next five years. On the second charge,he has to pay a fine of R3000 or three months imprisonment,so effectively he is paying a R13 000 fine. His driver's and firearm licenses have been reinstated as well. Pasha furthermore made an arrangement to pay R5000 on the day and will pay the rest in R1000 instalments for eight months. The PPA is extremely concerned and exasperated at the contemptible sentence handed down to Pasha in the case against Dewald van der Westhuizen in the Simon's Town Magistrates court. In many cases in South Africa, the punishment does not fit the crime. This is a perfect example. No matter the mitigation or aggravation in this case, we feel the sentence is sorely lacking in severity. We believe it sends out the wrong message to would be criminals and lets them know that they can break the law in egregious fashion and little to nothing will happen to them. We have a 1 metre pass law in the Western Cape. On this alone (and we believe there was strong evidence overall to suggest culpability), we believe the sentence was derisory. Law abiding cyclists who are following the laws of the roads, should not be as vulnerable as they currently are on our roads. They are literally taking their life in their hands when they leave for work or school, or are out on training / fun ride. This should not be how we have to live our lives. We strongly urge the SAPS, the traffic authorities and all prosecuting bodies to take a more serious look at what is happening on our roads as far as vulnerable road users are concerned. The current state of affairs is intolerable. All reactions: 145145
  16. cool. So this thread branch started from me commenting that Langvad winning 6 ladies epic titles does not eclipse Platt/Sauser winning 5 each. (Those two are still at it in the masters trying to outdo each other - apparently sauser got fined for bunking the prize ceremeonies during the week, acid that he's not on top). I'll go a bit further, while there a few exceptions but in general (2023 I see you and your duct tape) the UCI Women's category at Epic has been rather boring. Langvad/Sofia winning every stage (i think they did, or at least they could have) is not a compelling story. They've had equal prizemoney/tv time for over ten years now.
  17. Yeah I watched last year, and cheered for your wife. and will be next weekend again too. That doesn't change the fact that the strength of the field in the mens cat is way deeper than the womens. By orders of magnitude. I do like facts, so since you highlighted last year as a good example let's look at the two fields. 2nd placed M/W - +11/8mins 3rd place +11/36 5th 27mins/1:47hours 10th 1:33/5:48hours (yes, you still get prize money for being almost 6 hours back) Sort of agree with you on the marathon vs XC issue. ever since they changed it to a marathon event a lot of the XCO guys didn't do Epic. The best riders are just XCO focussed, so when you are having marathon champs at UCI worlds means the best (XCO) riders won't do it. more importantly - good luck in Brazil.
  18. I know they have those computers with the green monochrome screens, but surely your ID number flags everything together?
  19. wonder if Tristan Nortje got a standing ovation at school assembly yesterday. Headmaster must be super proud of him!
  20. simple: Kevin prioritized the rider experience to build the long term legacy of the event at the expense of short term profit. Ironman are using the long term legacy to prioritize the short term profit at the expense of rider experience. well that's the way this keyboard warrior sees it, backed up by riders from the field
  21. so let me get this straight, guy rides 500 miles on an velodrome track. passes out momentarily. Doc says: "that's probably enough" He goes back out to see what it's like and rides another 5 laps (so 1,25km) and then calls it quits. but you're going to give him anonymous advice on how to move on from this tragedy on the day his race partner passes away? And defend it with your desktop research? Welcome back to the hub, I guess. Don't lose those login details. Ben Elst, if you're reading this - not all of us share this opinion. Sorry for the loss and the tragedy this adventure has become for you and your friends.
  22. Incredible work @Belinda Roxburgh He has pulled the "rental bike got stolen stunt before too". https://www.facebook.com/MikeBolhuisOfficial/posts/pfbid04XRpGMqfro1DZyeneH9cLhQSA8ZEgHPXiDp6GwaZW8E9SdufFYVfonczR7YqY4prl?__cft__[0]=AZWq6wVvVDyMWe6jX3TdKlY1gHiXO2a16W3l_LQlvCPyp6ojn9YugOlUFSfYOFXryKYHZUzoht0euxEK7cB_vaVchzU94_88J-baUgdEFx6NDinQH5SXUV0jshbFP8h1lhGrD6I_mbOCh-HONoi_kRf2ndChtEWH9diRkIxi4W-4sQ&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R
  23. Hendrik, that's a bit unnecessary comment (after doing so well). To make such a statement you must know plenty to back it up. Someone died, and it looks like it could have been avoidable. (edit: Ben = Ronny's riding partner for 2025.) He was not some noob, this was his third epic. (I think, Epic have in their wisdom killed the rider history function from 2025, so this is legacy info still up on their site - nice one again) RIP Ronny.
  24. Going to call it as I see it. This is epic upper management, (probably not even in SA) going into crisis mode. "Let's post the video of the afterparty with dance scenes" https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHlGXOYIgJA/ 10 minutes later "someone in IT says only 10 people have clicked on the early bird entry link each hour, normally it is 500+". "ok we need a reason to reassess. Can we still roll out the story of someone who died, after we denied his existence for a few days hoping everyone would forget? Do we need to R15m instant cashflow to pay off suppliers this week? With half the expenditure after all the cost cutting, that shouldn't be too hard" Kevin Vermaak will be able to buy this back at 20c in the Rand in 5 years' time. I'll back him to turn it around too.
