  1. Sorry to bring up the simonstown incident again, (it's on the Worcester case as a hit and run), but it should really have been a slam dunk. Then this happened along the way. Navy employee, Garth Pasha appeared in court and pleaded guilty to two charges. He was originally charged with attempted murder but on Friday the charges were reduced to reckless driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. The was no explanation from the state why the charge was changed. Pasha pleaded guilty to reduced charges of reckless driving and failing to stop and the scene of a crash. It appears that blood was not taken, as it was nmot reported in the case - surely this won't be the case here.
  2. Think most of the available levers are to be pulled by the mayor of CoCT, but it is good to have the premier sympathetic to cycling causes. He has a lot to lose then, and this will be really inconvenient travel wise. But he will be able to afford the best legal defence.
  3. AFAIK there was no blood taken in the simonstown incident - so there is no way to dispute the defence's story. accident victim as reported in the media after the incident: https://falsebayecho.co.za/news/2024-01-11-long-road-to-recovery-for-hit-and-run-cyclist/ as reported by https://www.facebook.com/cyclistsstayalive Navy employee, Garth Pasha appeared in court and pleaded guilty to two charges. 4. Yet the cycling tjops who ride like chops are the ones that everyone wants to apprehend.
  5. Wonder if there is a way to check "half life" of blood alcohol, as they would in drug testing. Then one could trace back to time of accident. The way the system (doesn't) works, you are almost encouraged to hit and run rather than stay at the accident scene- and the consequences you deal with later are reduced, if not entirely escape scot free.
  6. Guys please take the time and effort to add your voices as eyewitnesses.
  7. Gp number plate from what I can see. On social media the witness reports are clearly intoxicated driver. https://www.arrivealive.co.za/news.aspx?s=1&i=75712&name=cyclist-killed-in-a-collision-on-victoria-road-camps-bay https://www.arrivealive.co.za/news.aspx?s=1&i=75712&name=cyclist-killed-in-a-collision-on-victoria-road-camps-bay Remember this navy guy had video evidence and got away with a R20k fine. https://capeargus.co.za/weekend-argus/news/2025-03-27-outrage-over-lenient-sentence-for-sa-naval-officer-in-hit-and-run-case/
  8. @MANIC CYCLES seeing a lot of love, will be surely missed.
  9. Morewoods often made people do stupid things...no judging here!
  10. Well maybe mr Minn retiring is the direct sign of that. See Cannondale was replaced with Giant in sync with Alan Hatherley moving between the brands.
  11. unique scenario - bikes have emotional aspects as you mentioned. Did you just sommer take it, or buy it from the seller at bargain price? Did you want it back, would you have bought it at the auction? all comes down to how much more the bike could be worth to you than anyone else.
  12. with Israel rebranding to NSN, wondered what is happening with Derek Gee? Don't think there's a snowballs chance of him going back, so he clearly has contract termination issues before signing to a new team. https://www.instagram.com/p/DPmKcB8DLyh/ in the mean time, looks like he got married (he got a new surname). Hope to see the canadian champs jersey in the peleton next year again.
  13. where do you see this? He's not on here (but there's only 287 listed here, with 369 tickets available) https://www.wser.org/2026-entrants-list/ see 11300 odd people qualified, entered and paid for the 369 places. such a mad process!! 43 ZA registered runners.
  14. Sounds rough, hopefully someone here can chirp in with some real world experience. Two thumbs up for posting this thread topic under your actual name, I guess what you've been for there is no need for discretion anymore!
  15. Pretty sure Spez were quite late to the party here relatively. When they launched the Levo most of the other big brands already had an ebike offering, it came with an app that was a distinct departure from the rest of the pack that had screens only. My first ebike ride locally was probably 2011/12ish, family friend established the local Easymotion (BH) distribution and he got everyone to ride those initial demo bikes. They looked like pigs, and the range had a long way to go but you could easily see the gamechangers they would become. but that's just my recollection, Spez have definitely caught up fast!
  16. hope they didn't have issues with route, huge fires in the area in the past 10 days.
  17. wow. this is actually happening. and according to this it sold out in 48 hours.https://www.facebook.com/ultraxco/posts/pfbid0FHVJzdeNJ6ztJxsNWydyjxgKbk28jxQzTHsS8LMv3Wosu2DQaC3G1NFZkwT4HNkol Seems weird that a european crew can fly in and do a better race prospect than locals.
  18. What about an avalanche Envi with a suspension seatpost like a thudbuster?
  19. wow awesome - unique bike but didn't travel far in the time it was gone!
  20. Yawn, no need since you already pointed them out yourself. but yes, it didn't actually change the point as Jimmy Mcmillan once said, the entry fees are too damn high!

    Munga 2025

I know there is a hardcore munga cult following, (many come back every year) but I do think this will throw a cat among the pigeons at 40% of the entry fee. https://www.freedomchallenge.org.za/rasa-entry

currently sitting in Ceres between meetings - going to be long gone before they get here. It's moer hot today. was actually quite hard to find the tracking page from the website. Not sure if it is even there, but that's probably not the analogy.
  23. here's your actual KOTA winner
  24. taken from marshalls at top of platteklip. WhatsApp Video 2025-11-23 at 09.53.16.mp4 One man's "soft" is another person's "insane". I got the call from my wife to say that she was halfway up platteklip and was sent home. I'm ok with the decision on this one, but it still sucks when they actually had other routes on the mountain still open. Could they have planned for this, maybe not that easy. While I agree with the sentiment that these events are silly expensive, I think your numbers for some are bigly inflated for some reason. The only reason why they cost this much is because they sell out and can hike it the next year. The worm has turned on this one for The Otter which did not fill the field for the first time ever this year.
  25. check this thread out.
