  1. If anyone has a GPX file of the route from last year , I would really appreciate it if you could send it to me - I will pm my email addy
  2. I never indicate when changing lanes on a bicycle. I keep left, so lane changing is not an issue for a cyclist. I only indicate if I turn left or right. I do what makes me feel safe. My, what silly topic.
  3. The OP stated in her opening post that henceforth she intends to stop at red robots, thereby evincing a clear intention on her part to abide by the very law which she questions. Is she not entitled to question or debate a law with which she disagrees? Are we so myopic that we will tolerate no debate whatsoever, merely because "its the law"? Your post, Falco, serves only to stifle and belittle a legitimate, topical and interesting debate. Newsflash: laws get debated and amended on a daily basis by the very people who represent us, the people, in Parliament. Why can we not debate a law without personally attacking the OP, and calling into question her integrity, her gender, her post count, not to mention your repugnant reference to the Darwin awards. Here is another thought. We still have laws on our books which are morally bankrupt. the Exchange Control Regulations, and the E-Toll laws are examples. Must we shy away from debating these because they are the law? Are they cast in stone and untouchable?
  4. Yes, and then once we've done that, lets move onto replacing the words "common cold" with "pancreatic cancer". When we are done with that we can find some more absurd and equally stupid analogies to get preachy with.
  5. Why the need to get personal? Deal with and argue the merits of the subject matter of a post as vociferously as you wish. But play the ball, not the man or woman. I find the more emotive a poster gets, the less value his contribution adds to the topic. Your effort here is a classic case of an intellectually deficient, piss poor attempt at taking a side swipe at the person of the OP, instead of engaging the content of her posts, which is what she has invited you to do.
  6. Lol, I also don't inhale! But still, a simple apology would have been more honest.
  7. 1. Your adherence to the Road Traffic rules is most laudable; 2. Your compliance with the rule of the Hub against personal attacks, less so; 3. Committing an act of defamation on a public forum? Not clever, and erm...not lawful. Kinda like running a red light.
  8. Probably because there is a lot of dishonest sanctimonious judgmental bs being "dispensed" on this thread. I rode for 3 hours this morning. Neither I nor any other cyclist I saw stayed stopped at any intersection, save for those where there was intersecting traffic. But put it out here, and everyone's a red robot-stopping saint, and butter wouldn't melt in their mouths.
  9. Annica, I think you your arguments are valid and well reasoned. When cycling in Joburg (especially alone) its dangerous and stupid to wait around interminably for a light to turn green - one is at greatly increased risk of hijack when stationary. I follow the following protocol. Stop at the robot. Carefully check for oncoming traffic, as you would do at a stop street. When safe proceed.
  10. +1. Just done the exact same thing. Was this a hit and run?
  11. Ping V12 man, hub go-to guy for all things medical. And coffee.
  12. If you face three armed men, and you pull out your own gun, that's just suicide. Your life is worthless to these people. Best case scenario is that you will have your gun taken off you as well as your bike, phone and cash (and whatever else the robbers find on you). I don't think carrying while riding is the answer. I think we either need to be in a group, or on the IDT, and that's the sad reality.
  13. I really enjoyed the race. The organizers really did a fabulous job, with everything really. Great attention to detail with the road markings, excellent marshaling. A rider came down hard just after the start in GL a couple of bike lengths ahead of me and my mates, and we were lucky to not to have been caught up in it . Anyone have any news on how he /she is? Couple of twitchy moments with the short distance riders in the last few kays. 3.28. Will be back next year. Really shocking news to hear about the lady that passed away RIP. Condolences to her family.
  14. Started in HL. Punctured going through a pothole at about the 60km mark. From then on it was just about enjoying the day and I chilled and had a lekker ride. I was towed home in the last 10 kays by these nice okes who didn't mind me sucking their wheels, thanks guys. Also had a pretty close shave with a cone after Carnival. looking forward to next week's race.

    Argus 2014

Many thanks. Interesting to see that they have used non seeding events - and that they have used Champion chip timed races. Did not know racetec would allow that.

    Argus 2014

I'm in X starting at 7.16, which given my limited abilities, I am v happy with. But what i don't understand is that they used Carnival City, Serengeti and Race for Victory only to determine my seeding. But none of these are listed as seeding events, so I am confused. I did all the biggies last year - Argus, R4S, Amashova, 94.7 but none of these races have been used. Im confused. Any ideas?
  17. Nice info, thanks Gerald. Always a lekker race - looking forward to it.
  18. I'm in BL. Definitely don't deserve to be there, and no way I will not be spat outta there in 5 mins flat. I am beginning to think there are only 2 start groups.
  19. Get rid of the charities? Seriously?
  20. I have Microtech deep sections. A small but irritating problem I am experiencing is the ingress of water into the rim when I wash my bike. Interestingly, only the front wheel is the culprit - it also has happened on riding through a puddle. Is this fixable , has anyone had similar experience with this? Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
  21. My thoughts are with you and your family. May he rest in peace.
  22. I have installed the 4.8 updates, it does not seem to have fixed the issue. I ami running windows 7. I wii Ll try the diagnostic tool over the weekend.
  23. I have recently bought some tacx training films, and i am enjoying them. An irritating issue which i I am-having is that i find the picture almost always is about .1.4 km ahead of the elevation. For instance, I will ride to the top of Sukerbossie only to **** on the way down, as the top of the climb is not synchronized. The Argus film seems to be the worst worst culprit, but i am also experiencing this to a lesser degree on 2 other training films. I am running TTS 4 basic, and have just updated to the latest software update. I hoped the update would cure the problem, but it has not. Has anyone experienced anything similar, and can anyone suggest a fix? Many thanks Harry
