Does anyone have a gpx file of the route?
  3. This is a much discussed topic here, as you will see if you do a search. The consensus of the hub experts seems to be that Avids are just crap, and need to be changed to Shimano. I have the exact same problem, but I just live with the noise, embarrassing and annoying as it is.
  4. He won a grueling race in terrible conditions, fair and square. In what way is not deserving of the title? Please clarify.
  5. No prob, you can do a late entry at registration
  6. Shocking. RIP cyclist. Condolences to the family
  7. Well done! I have a feeling we passed each other a few times. Were you on a black bike? I was in CHOC kit on a blue Trek.
  8. Hey Bobbie, I am so proud of you for this. What a special person you are! I've just donated 2K, and challenge all hubbers to meet or better that - - - or just donate whatever you can afford, even its 50 bucks. Its a fantastic Fantastic cause, and every little bit helps. Bobbie, see you at the race! All the best Harry
  9. Wow. The watchmaker up the road has been ripping me at 40 bucks a pop. Thanks for the tip. Edit: the listing has been removed - did you buy them all?
  10. Its a Ponzi scheme http://behindmlm.com/companies/lyoness-us-review-cashback-and-investment-returns/#comment-76424
  11. Terrible news. Please keep us posted on his condition; I don't know him, but hope he makes a speedy and complete recovery.
  12. Fantastic story, long may you ride. And fly
  13. Chris Froome showed grace, poise, humanity & humility in victory. What a champion. What a gentleman. All of those (both here on the hub and elsewhere) who have cast aspersions against him, should be hanging their heads in shame!
  14. Also cant wait, i got a dream team - i cant lose. Problem is that everyone probably has the same okes I think
  15. I dunno, if you wanna pump four bullets into your gf through the bathroom door, you can still be safe and secure in the knowledge that the cops will contaminate the crime scene.
  16. I want justice for Burry, damn it. By that I mean I want the driver to face a trial. Prosecuted by a competent lawyer. Armed with a proper investigation by the cops. Adjudicated upon by an impartial, skilled and experienced judge. With effective representation for the accused. And yes, after all that I do indeed hope that he is convicted. What I don't want is prosecutorial screw-up. The very fact that Cherise has to tweet a journalist to try and find out what is going on, speaks volumes to me. In October last year, I T-boned a Hyndai Getz after the nice lady driver turned right in front of me, not seeing me or the entire bunch I was riding at the front of. 9 of us could have been killed that day. I sustained multiple fractures to my pelvis. I was lucky. Anyway, I gave the investigating oficer the names and nos of all 9 Of us. He took statements from me and one other. Too lazy to even interview the rest, all of whom were eye witnesses. Suffice it to say, no charges have even been laid against the driver, despite the prosecutor having assured me that she would be charged. I am therefore a tad cynical when it comes to our criminal justice system. If the family of Burry Stander, champion, hero, true South African icon, cannot get justice, then what chance do the rest of us have??
  17. I hope that this guy has not and won't be granted bail. Someone who leaves a man to die on the side of the road rather than face the consequences of his actions, must surely be treated as a flight risk!
  18. Rip Burry. A tragic loss of a truly great South African. My thoughts are with his family.
  19. I dunno - I think you might be overstating the 2.
  20. Last week I bought my bike (pic above) from Northcliff Cycles. These are my impressions. Alex is a true gentleman, with an obvious passion for cycling. He dealt with me with honesty and was 100% reliable. I just know that if I ever have any issues, he will sort them out without hassle. Liam was efficient and competent, and displayed an attention to detail in setting up my bike which really impressed me. The price of the bike was extremely competitive. A pro cyclist (Christoff) test rode and checked my bike before they let me take it out the shop. And, they all treated me like a king. So, I just don’t understand any of the negativity posted on this thread – it is totally incompatible with my first time experience of NC. Oh ja, I also got to meet Chris Froome in the shop! Lastly, I want to say how privileged and grateful I feel to own a bike like this.
  21. Hi. I ride a Trek Fuel EX9 26er (picttured below). The rear shock is a Fox Float RP-23. The front shock is a Fox 32 F-series 120 mm travel. I weigh in at 102kg (I'm a big bastard; not proud of it, but its a reality). Anyway, I am battling with my shock setup, and i don't seem to be able to get it right. When I climb out the saddle, the bike feels like a flippin boat. I have made the rookie mistake of changing the pressures now 2 days before the Walkerville race, and i am anxious to get things right and comfy before the race. Advice on what front and rear pressures are right for my bike and my weight would be hugely appreciated. I have just pumped the rear shock to 240 psi, and the front to 180. It feels real stiff tho. I am particularly interested to hear from guys of similar weight and bike brand and setup. But any help from anyone in the know will be valued.
  22. I enjoyed the race very much. Nice route, well marked. Great marshalling. Easy to get in and out of venue. All ticks checked for me. But ya, it was f*&^% cold.Still, I will be back next year.
  23. Yes, we rode it on Sunday - really terrific!
  24. Thanks, China
