  1. Can I ask where you got your repair stands from?
  2. I have a set of those clamps but will only be around on the 2/3 of January. You can have them. Never been to that shop, just tried having an email conversation with the dude about some wheels - doesn't know wtf is going on.
  3. Yeah, I asked him a question a while back about cabling, thought he was being rude by not answering...must be having broadband issues.
  4. Aluminium panels like that are cheaper to replace than CF. I think they're meant to come off if they need to. Only problem is where do you get them? Don't think I want to phone Concept Cycles, those little things probably cost more than my frame from them.
  5. Definitely too far back, if you manage to find these plates, let us know please, I want one for my Scott Scale
  6. That GT looks amazing
  7. Not sure about the original bearings but if you know the sizes I reckon try out Enduro bearings - I had some cheapo chinese bearings in my MTB Mavic wheels, they disintegrated after a few 100kms. I replaced them with the Enduro ABEC ones and they still running fine - this is after at least a 1000kms. http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=93807 Seems like they the same sizing as the Mavic wheels. Of course check out Solomons in Woodmead, they keep these Enduro bearings or order from Rush Sports.

and the drains. Just strange riding on those thin tires, used to riding MTB.

Going to be my 1st road race, using my only road bike, an old school Hansom. Never ridden it in the rain, hopefully people riding bicycles in the rain aren't as accident prone as ppl riding cars in the rain here in Jozi.
  10. GT definitely. And it has better wheels. But also you have to decide whether you want Shimano or SRAM components.
  11. Sorry guy, but I had to share
  12. My buddy Dan's bike at Northern Farms - he was screaming like a girl when he figured out what was stuck in his wheel. It was dead already in case anyones wondering.
  13. Thanks MCipollini. Me being a graphic designer has its advantages/disadvantages. One of em being that s**t needs to look good and proper. After all that elbow grease, wasn't prepared to throw out that frame.
  14. Here you go. Got it for R70 from Solomons, but I keep that KMC link in my pack for emergencies, that was R20.
  15. My Scott Scale...after dropout repair.
  16. Nice bike!
  17. I also just bought the Craft active ones, also similar pricing from Solomons, very nice for their budget offering. Havent ever seen any stock of the Fox ones.
  18. I said you could remove the bottom ring, but if you want to install a bash guard then check the link below: http://forums.mtbr.c...ded-679087.html I could be wrong as Covie is saying, but this conversion seems pretty logical IMO.
  19. You should be able to get it to work. But I think the limits won't reach the middle ring - you have to tighten the cable while the mech is in line with the middle ring - not the most ideal way to do it but should work for now. Not sure of the implications of having the shifter cable constantly pulling but yes it will definitely work. New mech will be around R300 so probably best to just get that.
  20. As far as I know you can use the front derailleur you have now and also on the XT crankset, the smallest ring is bolted independently so it can be removed for 2x10 use. I have x9 3x10 shifters with XT crankset + XT front mech. Front shifting is the same for SRAM and Shimano, back is different ratios.
  21. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8472 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=85526 I know KCNC make one as well which is probably the easiest to get here, unless you want to buy a Ritchey or something like that. Thomson dont and never did a 34.9, unless you going to use a shim you can't use that.
  22. maybe the dude was from JHB. But yes it probably just fell off.
  23. Very nice looking bike, really love the blue
  24. Don't really see how its over rated, haven't seen much reviews or advertising besides the couple of mails this week from Makro etc. Anyways, keen to check out this Metro GUI, heard its nicer than OSX - I use both Windows + OSX daily, Linux I have no experience with. IMO they both good, but depends what you need to do. Mac can't run any games for s**t, but super efficient if you using Exposé and the rest of the features. Windows will do whatever a Mac can, but in the marketing world the creatives need their macs - they look cooler. Windows 7 is awesome, can't fault it. XP is way too simple for this day and age - and doesn't really work across networks with Macintosh. And of course 64bit is the only way to go, unless you just using a pc for word and internet explorer. Will install Win8 in the next few days - expecting driver issues and all the rest that comes with a new OS. Apparently its faster than Windows 7.
