  1. Just placed my order for a proper helmet! I opted for the cheapest helmet when I got my MTB... Need to give myself a fighting chance if I had to fall...
  2. How many kms have you done on the existing jockey wheels?
  3. Endomondo is awesome! using an iPhone - any suggestions on where and what kind of heart rate monitor i need?
  4. momentum and gear selection...i would assume... It is super tricky...I managed the 1st section, but had to walk the 2nd section... Only attempted it once...
  5. lol! you guys are *** mean!
  6. Sounds good! We were out this morning on this route: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/uP79kCYx9Lw definitely keen to do your 20km route... and keen to ride with you...
  7. Cool - I would recommend doing it yourself... Its easy and a great sense of accomplishment!
  8. Teak is awesome as they have different trails for different skill levels. Groenkloof is a suprise each time - some really easy single track and then some super hectic technical stuff...Not too much signage either... http://www.teaksports.co.za/
  9. Either way - hope you sort this issue out mate... Pretty unfair if Litespeed have been selling "damaged" frames...
  10. Road riding or is it a mix? Weekends we usually head off to MTB venue - Teak or Groenkloof... There are a few other venues that we still need to check out - one of which is Kings Kloof (quite close to Teak I believe)
  11. A mate and myself do a 15km Sunninghill ride...start @ 5:00 / 5:15. We try do this around three times a week. We alternate between Sunninghill and Douglasdale (since he lives on that side). Douglasdale has tons of tough hills... Majority of the riding is on the pavements... The Sunninghill route: We start off from Naivasha, cross the highway towards bowling and turn left up past the golf course (road parallel to the highway). Into the Woodmead suburb (dont know its exact name) which has 2 hectic hills...we then turn left as we past the entrance to the golf course (McDonalds in front of us), and then left onto Woodmead drive... Pass Eskom on the left (still on Woodmead drive) and left back into Sunninghill (another tough hill). We then head down to Maxwell drive (decent downhill on the right hand side embankment) and then right into Nayuki - all the way to the prison and then back around to Naivasha... Do you have another route that you were thinking? Also - we arent the strongest of riders, so the 15km takes us about 55mins... The Douglasdale route looks like this: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/sEbJj5x62mQ Some of my shorter Sunninghill rides look like this (+-10km when time is an issue - usually when I cant make it in the mornings): http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/ikm7MJlU0g8
  12. Stans is awesome! (ok ok - my experience with other brands is non existent...) Bought a kit from Cyclelab @ R450 odd. Used my cheapie WTB non-UST tyres on WTB Speed Disc wheels and it worked like a charm! A few of my LBSs told me that it WOULD not work...and I should opt for a proper set of UST tyres which have stronger sidewalls. I even bought a Race King 2.2 UST (still in its box). Bit the bullet and did it myself... Got it right on my 1st attempt, after spending sometime on YouTube and getting the technique right. I did however have to inflate the wheels at my local BP filling station. 350km later on mixed terrain (Teak, Groenies, the MTN Bike Park and the Spruit) without ANY issues! Tons of thorns, but after pulling them out, Stans seals them up! The air loss is minimal and I can easily say its less than the loss I incurred using tubes (around 250km worth of tube use). As for the ride - I notice no major difference except being able to run a slightly lower pressure - around 1.5 to 1.8 bar. Others have experienced all sorts of improvements - other topics on tubeless conversions will confirm this. I have gone as low as 1.3 without realising it! Tubeless converstion on non-UST - I would do it over and over again!
  13. I believe Babbas is an awesome starter event - being new to MTB, my intention is to start racing. How true is this? Also - does anyone have a schedule for these events? I believe it happens every month? Will do some research on Google as well - any advice or comment would be appreciated...
  14. Would have been great - if i didnt go out this morning! How is the Spruit? Havent been since the heavy rains we had in Jan/Feb...
  15. Slightly off topic - looking for a permanent workbench for my garage. Any recommendations or anyone built up a solid 1? Would love to see your pics...

    LOL!!!!!
  17. Unfortunately this happens on all forums that have a for sale section... And it will continue to happen... Each person has an idea or opinion on what stuff should cost... Also - everyone is looking for that bargain... And sometimes - it does highlight goods that are well overpriced... Gotta harden up and take it...
  18. Silverback for sure - based on the price and components... I have a 2010 Nabraska (Ventura) equivalent - and still battle to find another bike with the same specs for a similar price... As per Edwin Watson - see if you can find a 2nd hand Sierra - better components at a similar or cheaper price...
  19. Bought my bike from them - wasnt given an initial bike setup or proper advice... I think they were more interested in reaching their sales target! Also in retrospec - I could have gotten my bike cheaper if I shopped around a little bit more... Lesson learnt - 1. Know what you should be getting when you buying your bike, i.e. 1st service free, a proper setup, etc. 2. Shop around and do proper research on the bikes you are interested in. On a plus side - they have a massive range of everything!
  20. How about some pics guys!
  21. Good on you mate! the world needs more honest people!
  22. Wow!
