  1. Ok so my new lenses have arrived, i am extremely happy. i did chose the $55 shipping method so that did add to the cost however i prefer to have security in the fact i can track my parcel right to my door and if it doesn't get delivered i can make it someones problem to find or replace. the quality is very good, so far i am struggling to to tell they are not original Oakley lenses, the lenses are slightly thinner than the originals but they fit the frames perfectly and there is no plastic creaking on any of my glasses so i am happy. i have 2 different sets of Fives and a set of jawbones that i opted to bring new life to, as you can see from the pics i chose to go for the mirrored finish( only because i have never had a set so figured what the hell). changing out took 5 min and i am very happy. my Fives received the normal mirrored polarized lenses while my Jawbones(which are my riding glasses) received the elite HC3 vented lenses. i will definitely use Revant again.
  2. I have just ordered 3 sets of polarized lenses and a set or ear socks from Revant optics, the whole order came to $209, based on my calculations the vat etc will come to R450 odd, that's less any FedEx fees as i dont have these as yet, should have them by Friday so will give feedback then. it works out to roughly 1k for a set of lenses. depending on how much you love your Oakley's it may be worth it, i have 9 pairs of Oakley's that i have collected over the years, i love Oakley so for me its worth the money to get them good as new again. for me i went this route as a replacement set of Oakley lenses for my Jawbones which i use for cycling was quoted at more than 3k. i have only heard good reviews regarding the quality form Revant so i figured i would take the chance, also they stock for glasses that Oakley no longer make which is a bonus.
  3. got tired of almost dying on the bike so went and invested in some new protective equipment!!
  4. WTB 2.4 trail boss on the back and a WTB 2.35 Vigalante up front, they are rather pressure sensitive though. stick like crap on velcro when right but feel dodgy when not, am running mine at 1.9bar at the back and 1.6 up front. works for me.
  5. yeah i know the 4mm makes a huge difference but a 30mm internal is still plenty wide, last i checked the Pyga's are 5k a rim( depending on where you buy from of coarse) but even if they are 6k it means for less than 1 enve rim you can get a set of Pyga's laced to a set of hope evo 2 hubs with tires.
  6. at half the price of the enve its still double the price of the pyga trail wide and its local , the pyga has a 30mm internal width though which is still frikken wide. unfortunately i dont have any feedback on your actual question though.;
  7. Big thanks go out to Tyrone for helping me get hold of these decal to pimp my pike, went from std to santa cruz colors. for anyone wanting custom decals i highly highly recommend Tyrone!!!!
  8. Looks awesome, I have been searching for a rack that allows propper space between the bikes due to all mountain frames being wider than xc. My biggest concern though is there doesnt seem to be any way to lock the bikes to the rack. That means a garage stop etc on a long trip requires someone to stay with the car to make sure the bikes are not stolen.
  9. Eish, I am now going to have to start saving for this technology pyrography. Looks very vedy nice.
  10. a Few shots of my nomad and me abusing her
  11. just had delivery of my Nomad with a set or WTB vigalante's on, will give feedback once i have a few miles on them. they look very similar to my HD's so am very interested to see how they handle by comparison.
  12. my custom build Nomad is finally here, am like a kid in a candy store waiting take her out for her first shredding session.
  13. difficult to diagnose without knowing where the grinding noise is coming from, if is while peddling is most likely the chain catching the front derailleur, if while freewheeling i suspect some dirt may have made its way into the bearings on the freebody of your hub. unfortunately these problems could be many things and where probably masked by the dirty grease prior to the clean green approach. they may be new symptoms too. i know that doesnt really help you much but if you can identify where the grinding is coming from it will be easier to diagnose.
  14. not likely related to the de-greasing, the cleaning however may have cleaned some dirt around the cable housing which in turn has given you a small amount of additional or less cable movement hence the slipping, this can normally be sorted by adjusting the barrel adjusters on the bars. if not then a cable tension adjustment needs to happen on the derailleur itself. check the vid for a how to or go to a lbs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH43OCmArUw
  15. best cleaning solution i have used is a mix of 1/3 clean green and pink stuff, both sold at builders, cleans absolutely anything and doesnt cost a fortune. wife tends to steal my spray bottle to clean stove/ batchroom etc.
  16. Mad skills but for me road bike party 1 and 2 were much much better. This was just a little brash and unrefined, from the soundtrack to the locations used and the fact that in the first 2 you never actually see the riders put their feet down at all I was really disappointed.
  17. honesty i think they grip like **** on Velcro, better than any other tire i have used, if the trailstar grips more i would possible be scared i managed to pick them up from cycle lab at R450 a tire, think it was just my lucky day and at that price i couldnt say no.
  18. honestly to me they look almost brand new, i can see a little wear but nothing like the Bronsens i had before, have had them on the bike for close on 7 moths with 80-120 km a week between trails, tar, grass etc etc. will take a snapshot of them when i am home so you can see what the wear looks like.
  19. a word of warning about the Mk2 protection, they have particularly soft sidewalls, not soft as in will puncture but soft as in they move laterally on the rim( not sure how else to describe them) i ran them tubeless and couldnt corner hard at all as i had sever creeping. they are not tubeless or tubeless ready so need the added stability gained form a tube to handle correctly, i managed burp one right off the rim and had to fit a tube, thereafter it was a different ride and i felt confident again. sold shortly after fitting and bought a set of bronsens which gave me confidence on the bike again. i love mine(HD pacestar compound front and back), have done several months of hard fast riding including Mankele avalanche and this weekends Hakahana enduro, i can drop the pressure to about 1.5 bar and have no issues at all. best money i have ever spent on a tire( i may just be lucky in that i have experienced none of the issues people talk about though.
  20. God i want that bike!!!!
  21. from what i can see the healthy gear refund only applies to Adidas gear, so a polar or anything else is excluded
  22. Yeti SB6c, pure bike porn!!!!
  23. cool stuff, the pics are not always necessary but some insurers want proof you had the bike, with no proof of purchase it gets a bit difficult thats why i recommend the pics. also the quote will let you know the actual replacement value.
  24. what you paid is irrelevant
  25. insure at replacement value, go to a cycle shop and get a quote and use with pics etc of you and your bike in the event of a loss. make sure you have a clear photo of you and the bike not a 100 foot race pic that kind of shows you and the bike.
