  1. This is unfortunately normal wear on a lightweight aluminum freehub. I have hope evo 2 hubs and have the same problem, am running an xt cassette on one bike and slx on another. Hope make a steel freehub but I have yet to buy one, dont know what the answer is to your problem I am afraid but you are not alone and as far as I am aware its normal to see this kind of wear over time.
  2. lol sorry was thinking about those okes that do a half job, peel the paper portion off and leave the glue behind.
  3. use doom, best sticker removal on earth, spray till its caked in white doom wait for 5 min and wash with soap and water.
  4. i think the first question is are you running tubeless or non with a tube that has slime in it? if tubeless and they are not 4mm or more in diameter sort of thorns just pull. spin the wheel and let the sealant do its thing, only 1 at a time though, you could do several but thats probably just going to make a mess. if its a non tubless setup., -go tubeless= problem solved
  5. i have a chesty, helmet, bar and saddle mount and find they all have their pro's and cons, ill share my experiences below( note they are mine and not a generalisation for everybody, also i have a hero 2 hd not 3 so things may be slightly different on the later version) chesty- very cool if your body position doesnt change much., i turned the clip round so the mount is on top of the camera because every angle from the bottom was too shallow and all i got was the top tube of my bike. i find the chesty is difficult to aim to get the correct view, too high and all you get is sky and too low and you get the ground and top tube only. also if you stand or change body position your vid is stuffed. the video is most stable from this mount though, i put it down to my body absorbing most of the vibrations and not transferring it to the camera. helmet mount. my personal favourite and it gets the whole picture but its a very high view of the action, my head and neck seem to get most of the vibration and allows for a more stable picture i like this one because its like an apache helicopter gun, you shoot what you look at. the bar/ seatpost mount is very cool, allows first hand view of the action but i find it transfers a-lot of the vibrations experienced to the video, nice video from this in my experience but quiet shaky and you only get whats directly infront of the bars/ seatpost. great most of the time but not the option i like. as i say those are my experiences. i love my gopro but in the 2 and a bit years i have owned it i have yet to make a really cool biking video from the footage, i find the editing part really tough and can never seem to get the footage to be edited right for a post ride production. i really love showing people what i have done and most of them (being my wife and son) accept it as a cool way to see what the hell i do with my bike but its a long way from professional and to be honest i think that's why i use it less than i should.
  6. \yeah as i said, dont know how to solve your issue just venturing suggestions from my pool of knowledge in-case something helps. after some internet searching i realised my post was pretty much useless( sorry)
  7. not sure of the carbon cranks but alu should be around 18-20nm, dont know SRAM but shimano has 2 opposing bolts that need to be tightened asynchronously until the desired torque is reached. without a torque wrench its going to be difficult to gauge, i used to use feel to say its tight( basically tightened till i couldn't any more then came back about a quarter to half a turn)
  8. see if you can get hold of another crank to try, if the creaking is still there is the frame if not its the crank. dont know how to solve your issue but at least you can narrow it down a bit.
  9. Fark the one i want is still R2745.99
  10. No and at 8k, you are kidding right. Highly unlikely its tubelss and the weight is right for an entry level bike.
  11. rather buy these. http://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-slx-disk-brakes-bl-m675-br-m675-set.html
  12. Hehehehe I do tend to do things propper, I actually hit a tree with the bars and lever which caused the break.
  13. SLX or XT are the best affordable option from an initial purchase price perspective but shimano do not have any spares for them apart from pads, if you are lucky enough to find( resin is all i have seen recently.) if you break a lever its a whole new set likewise with the calliper ect. not a big issue if you never break anything, huge issue if you do. ( i know i just had to drop 2k on new levers as they do not come in single sides so you have to buy both) hope are a thing of beauty and everything can be replaced as parts but are much more expensive initially. alot more customisable to how you want them to feel. if you are coming from avids you wont know what you are missing and in my opinion what you dont know you wont miss so they may be over kill. again if you have the cash and want to spend it, spend it. you cannot go wrong with the SLX or XT brakes. i love mine, doubt i will ever change to another brand but as i say be prepared if you hit a tree and need a new lever etc.
  14. cuhkky mate you need to come riding with me, if you think VG is fun ill show you some track that will blow your mind!!!
  15. shot for the update patch, going to give it a go this weekend and see if i live, if you happen to get there and smell something frot please check if my body is in the ditch etc
  16. yup thats the one.
  17. Patch you are right on all points but you need to remember, you and i have some common sense and a sense of self preservation. some of the guys on the spruit lack that all together. its the lemmings we need to be careful of as they will inevitably make life difficult
  18. Bwhahahaha i like that
  19. here are some we took as we rode past the boys doing the build. loks a lot worse in real life.
  20. I ride the spruit 3 -4 time a week and have bought many a piece of land in many areas, i ride a 160mm travel monster that allows me to take the jumps and like to think i have a decent skill set that allows me to not kill myself. i do however think that the jumps are getting a little too serious and hectic for the type of trail the spruit is. i applaud the fairies and do support them in every way but the average( and not so average race rat) does not have enough skill to: read the jump properly. stop if they aren't sure about a situation. ride with a little bit of caution when its been a while since they were last on the trail. ride too fast thinking that its a Jeep track trail that is safe for all. the new gap that was being built at the virgin active is a prime example, its a crazy looking jump that is going to cause someone a lot of hurt. i think warnings are a great idea, i dont profess to know how to fund them etc but at least it may slow some people down a ittle so they dont get thrown by a new lip fdor example. i have seen 2 accidents requiring ambulances in the last 4 days at the Bomb jump. the left hand side is intimidating and only people that enjoy to jump like that will logically attempt it but the right hand side looks and always was rather flat and could be taken with speed, problem now is there is a lip there that has thrown several people over the bars due to them not expecting it and there is no way of judging it until you are right on top of it. personally i think we need to be very careful as if people are getting seriously hurt( due to stupidity or the trail) we are going to be faced with a situation, i suspect, where we will not be allowed to ride there any more.
  21. no cause they are not worth copying
  22. its not a pic but saw this and just want to get on my frikken bike!!!!!
  23. how do you come to this conclusion? the OP has not said what bike it is, whether he has a closed cable system or if the system is running smoothly when not riding over rough terrain, you may be right but to make this assumption off the bat is a little like shooting in the dark through a closed toilet door.
  24. uh check the rest of the forum before making comments about how much passion we have for other issues, we bitch about everything equally as much.
  25. i dont know the facts so cant completely disagree with that statement but i suspect you have been lied to. perhaps 6 or 7 actual respected, " we have quality control" companies but a chinese copy is still a chinese copy. 9 times out of 10 they are crap and put together in the fastest cheapest way possible
