  1. Ball in hip bust off the femur, plated and plates removed. Very lucky to be able to still ride. Unable to walk a km but ride 100's kms. No load bearing.....
  2. Tried them both. No response.
  3. HI All I have recently had to replace a new controller for my mid-drive "500W" Bafang motor. This thing is overpowering and haywire. I would like to have it turned down for distance and not speed. Who does this locally? The problems are: Highly sensitive and motor comes on full power without peddling, even when stopped. Very dangerous indeed. Can reach speed of 60kms hour Distance on battery is halved and gear changes are rough as there is no run-off. Something is going to give? Does not switch of when stopping peddling (Eg, at a stopstreet or opening entrance gate at home) No slow speed Tried the supplier but they do not answer phone, mail or messages.. Is this something I can do myself if I get the cable and program? Thanks.
  4. Plenty rides there. More than most. Speak to Arno at the bike shop. He knows more than most. I am sure he will chime in here. Very lekker place to ride, even alone.
  5. Still no communication from the bike shop. Took three days to uplift the motor from Postnet. Awaiting report back but it would seem they have nothin g to say? Avoiding the issue I think as they charged for 500W and sent 350W
  6. @ouzo and love2fly .Thanks ChrisF The serial number shows a different number to what it should be. Manufacturers confirm this (it was them who told me) and the number was for a smaller motor than what I purchased. Local supplier says the factory overseas cocked up so they changed the casing locally. Don't want to mention the bike shop because they have my motor, loom and display including my deposit on repair. Very expensive repair so far.
  7. Gooday All Is there anyway of checking the size of my supplied ebike motor? I am under the suspicion I have perhaps been undersupplied motor wise but do not know how to check what the wattage rating is. Appreciate any help?
  8. I would certainly never ride the M4! Certainly not at this time of the year. Early morning is worse than at night. I know there are guys and clubs that ride this route but not for me....never again. In saying that, there is a route inland from Riverside to Umhlanga and then you can ride the beachfront, if you can manage to fit in between the crowds.
  9. Thanks Arno, I have indeed. R2500 price for lekkie ring in SA and R1200 oversea including postage and excluding import tax. Need the adaptor to solve all the problems.
  10. I hope the brains trust are able to help or point me in the right direction. I desperately need a Bafang 8mm offset chainring adaptor so I can fit any sized flat chainring onto my existing motor. They are available but I have no idea where or how to get one. I did have a 36T lekkie bling ring but this has gone and bust by very suspicious conditions and a suspect answer. Thanks.

Is there a list of people taking part? Are the numbers up from last year?
  12. Gooday Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the Cyclec dynamo light/charger controller? The diagram I received from the suppliers is impossible to decipher. I have tried to contact them but I don't think they are in business anymore as they do not answer mail or calls. Hope you can help.
  13. I agree 100%
  14. Very true. Beware over festive season as it is even worse at this time. No go for me anymore. I will, say there are no safe roads to ride on with the likes of cane trucks sharing the road with you and dropping cane on the road, etc, etc. Ballito has grown too fast for safe cycling anymore. Beware out there.
  15. Have you tried petrol and a brush to separate the two halves instead of a heat? It will leave a better seal when closing.
  16. Gooday, I have this Novatec CL hub and was wondering if it is worth using it to build a wheel? I sounds and feels fine (heavy) and could even use the driver on a Shimano hub if it will fit? Anybody know anything about this hub? Worth anything or paperweight material? (Tried to Google but no luck hence the questions) Thanks in advance
  17. This looks like Ageratum which is an invasive alien plant!. Terrible things!!! Beautiful but dangerous as they say.
  18. SLX chainring - more than 25 000kms KMC/Sram chain - about 15 000kms Cassette - about 8 000 (Cheapest used) 9sp MTB - I use oil on my drivetrain and clean often. Seems to be working.
  19. I have heard Republic is closing down the shop side of things. There is some good news in that Toni Pedro will remain in his workshop for the next two months and then move into his own premises close by. This is great news because Toni is highly regarded as the best bike mechanic in Durban. I have experienced this when he did some work for me which no other mechanic in Durban could do ( I have tried most of them). Since then, he is my go-to person when I have messed up in my attempts at home mechanic endeavors.
  20. Yes indeed. The older you get the cheaper Redshift becomes!
  21. Let the truth be spoken.
  22. Thanks Droo, Too old (reckon I could be one of the oldest on the Hub???) to break chains under load but point taken in all seriousness. When top bike workshop people reply I have to listen.
  23. Has anybody tried any of these chains? Looking for advice and recommendations as these are half the price? If they last half the time of a Shimano/Sram chain then they could be worth it to me? Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thank Chain.file
  24. I absolutely agree! It has always been like that it seems. Used to ride there often. Prince Albert has more to offer for one day when a couple of tired cyclist ride through.
  25. Me too. The instructions above seemed to have worked.😀
